Question - Eating the Same Lunch & Dinner

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

I went to a meeting today where they ordered in a catered lunch. It was a sandwich, coleslaw, an apple and cranberry cocktail. The sandwich was huge, so I ate half... and it seemed like a good idea to also save half of the coleslaw. At 5:30 tonight I ate the apple as a snack. Now, rather than let the half-salad and half-sandwich go to waste, I'm thinking I will eat them for dinner tonight after I get back from volunteering. I am totally not into eating the same thing for lunch and dinner, but I do prefer that to wasting the food (as I don't think the texture will hold up until tomorrow). Do you ever eat the same thing for lunch AND dinner?

Only when I eat out. I usually take half of what I order home and eat it for dinner or lunch the next day, depending on what meal I ate out. I'm not a huge fan of it either, but like you, I don't like to waste food - especially food I paid so much for!

I have eaten the same thing for lunch and dinner before. I actually do it quite a bit. We cook extra food when we make our dinners and then use the leftovers for lunches at work (I'm not a huge sandwich person). It works out great! I know that what I am eating is nutritious because I didn't have to worry about what the Deli has today or if I am going to have time to drive somewhere to get something.

One Less Workout

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

I've got a committment on Wednesday night so I'll be missing my usual fitness class. I am hoping to make up a bit of the difference by going for an evening walk on Tuesday AND Thursday instead. It's really warming up here and the evenings are just beautiful!

Spotted At the Gym - SERIOUSLY?

Sunday, April 18, 2010

A lady walks into the shower area in the change room. She turns on one shower to the hottest possible temperature. Then, she walks back to the locker area and gets something (while the water is still running). Then, she walks back to the shower area and goes into one of the shower stalls (while the first "communal" shower continues to run). Under the door, you can see her feet spread wide apart as huge chunks of curly black hair start falling on the floor. Meanwhile, the first shower continues to run. Finally I went over and turned it off... but seriously! Trimming your pubic hair in a public bathroom while simultaneously running TWO showers? It's bad for the environment and it's bad for the emotional wellbeing of the people around you! Eeeeeew!

We're like, four days away from Earth Day to top it off!

Ugh. I can't even fathom why someone would trim their pubes in a public place. How disgusting!!

I think that my day would have been a lot better without reading this story. But then, I'll bet that your entire WEEK would be better off had you not witnessed it.

that is very strange. I don't understand why someone would turn on one shower then use another shower and leave the first one running.

Went for a Walk - A Free Verse Poem

Saturday, April 17, 2010

parking lot
smoke from the campfires
riverside trail

through the trees
dirt trail
wooden stairs to the sky

now i'm in your neighbourhood
walking behind your house
down
down
down
to the riverbank

under the highway
cement reaches towards heaven

the trail is flat
past an open air theatre
to the train tracks
bridge to an island bridge to the shore

along a quiet city street
parking lot

(JUST JOKING! I don't take walking that seriously!)

Turkish Delight

Thursday, April 15, 2010

I booked my summer holiday!

I'm flying into Istanbul (via Amsterdam... I'll have enough time to pop into the city centre for about four or five hours), exploring Turkey, traveling by train to Bucharest, exploring Romania and Moldova (and TRANSNISTRIA!), then flying back home out of Bucharest!

I AM SO EXCITED!

I've been dreaming of visiting Romania since 2005! Moldova has been on my list for the past year, and Turkey is a pretty new area of interest.

I'm going to totally wing the whole trip- no overplanning, no overbooking, no thinking too far ahead, no stressing about catching this train or that boat... just going with the flow!

Next Step: Get bikini-ready for the Turkish coast!

Yes, that is a Turkey!

It's a type of sweet. For a really pedestrian version, you could try a Big Turk chocolate bar (it's the stuff in the middle).

Sounds great! I've always wanted to see Romania, I've also always wanted to adopt a Romanian baby, but that will never happen, either.
I hope you have a great time!
But, every since reading Narnia, I've wondered, what exactly is Turkish Delight?
