Late entry goal for the month- My own experiment

Saturday, June 09, 2012

I am reading "Eat to Live" and am curious about how the peanut butter and gaucamole I eat are affecting my weight and stomach size.

My wife makes the best gauc. I can eat the entire bowl in one serving. I stop myself before this happens but I eat much more than a serving in one sitting. PB is also another food that I could continue eating without realizing how much I have actually already consumed.

I am going to cut out PB and gauc for 2 weeks beginning Sunday to see if the scale changes and/or if my clothes fit better. I am also going to limit my total nut intake to 1/4 cup (one serving) a day. Right now I usually eat the 1/4 cup serving a day in addition to other prepared foods that have nuts (like the yummy lentil loaf and homemade Larabars I made recently). After the 2 weeks I will see if I wish to continue but I will probably reintroduce both gauc and PB, just at much lower volumes and maintain the daily nut serving.

lol , I stopped buying PB , sometimes I just can't stop , I was eating it with slices of apples, that wssn't bad , but with oatmeal it was a disaster emoticon . I'm too lazy to make guacamole , I just slice the avocado in salads or pasta or spread it on something .

Hil, this blog made me hungry...

I like PB on a banana, but I had to stop eating PB for the same reason that you mentioned in this blog. It's easy to go over 1 serving allowance.

those are definitely triggers for eating- though i think worse than the guac are the chips i want to eat them on. i do better if i scoop some on top of a salad with black beans and homemade salsa. PB i use for a protein boost if the tracker is looking low, but those calories do add up!

PB I could do without, but when avocados are in season, I go crazy on the guacamole. Lately I've been having guac and chips for dinner about once every two weeks...

I'm the same way with both guac and pb really any kind of nut butter. I do limit the serving sizes but I don't cut them out completely. I find that the fat helps keep me full so I'm not grazing all day.

Gluten-Free Vegan Mac N' Cheese

This is the first time I have made cashew cheese...it was good. Just a little too sweet for me. I will play around with it next time. I left out the turmeric (don't like the taste) and added 2 handfuls of spinach to the mix so it ended up looking like pesto, hehe. It was still good though.

Granola bars

I have found that toasting oats and nuts don't make much of a difference in taste (for me) so I did not do that step. I omitted the sugar so I did not use the sauce pan step either. Instead of the syrup and honey I used agave. I will be making this again...

Oatmeal-Raisin Cookie Larabars

I am pretty sure she forgot to list dates. After following the directions the mix was still dry. So I soaked a handful of dates (about 1/2 cup) and added them to the mix. This is wonderfully delicious.

I too need to focus on the positive as am in a funk.. and everything is negative ... or irritates me it seems... I can just imagine how others are complaining that I irritate them as well.. emoticon

Meatloaf used to be one of my favorite meals. I'm not sure if it was more the memories than the meal though. This is one of the first things I learned to make as a vegan....LOVE IT! This is a particularly good recipe too.
