Going through my poems

Friday, April 08, 2011

I took out my poetry tonight and went through it all. I have sorted through the poems about the abuse and to my surprise there are not a lot about the abuse or abuser. Most of them are directed towards my mom. I have mixed feelings about if I should talk with her about any of this.

In time, I will know the right answer. I will work through this.

I hope this has a very healing and cathartic effect for you. I can't imagine how hard this process must be.

Your heart will lead you down the right path. You're a strong and wise woman. You'll get through this even stronger.

interesting that you have written more about your mom than the abuse/r. If you feel the need to take both of you back to what happened then go for it, although if you think it could do more harm than good, bring more hurt than relief for either or both of you then you might not want to go there...

You are wise and strong and your heart will know exactly what to do :)

From a personal point of view I've always found talking things out to be effective. Helps me to see them and adjust to them if I have someone else there to sound off at. Also helps me to know that while these events have helped shape who I am they do not define me in the least. It's the difference between coming up against a new problem and saying "Oh god, I give up" and saying "You can't phase me, I've already been through hell."

Whatever you chose it will be the right choice :)

Looking back at darker times is very hard. Just be careful to not let the feelings suck you in to allow it to affect today.

If you decide NOT to talk to her, then try to make peace with it.

My motivation for cardio today...

Wednesday, April 06, 2011

"hoping it does NOT rain so I can get a hike in!"

This was my status for the day. I wrote the status after I got home from the gym and was waiting for my wife to wake up for work. Since I have changed my work schedule to days, we have not seen much of each other. After she went to work I was feeling tired and debating whether or not to go for a hike.

So...I came to Spark, saw my status, looked outside and the sun was shining. No rain. At that point, the decision was easy! I grabbed my keys and went for a hike. What a great hike it was!

I hope I get to spend some real time with the wife soon too! Thank you all for your concern emoticon

And I felt great during and after the hike. Sometimes it's something so small that helps us see what we need to do. emoticon

Something clicked for me today

Monday, April 04, 2011

Both physically and emotionally.

While driving to the gym today I realized over half way there that I was wearing pants that I can not exercise in. A year ago I would have seen this as a sign that I was not meant to workout today. With my current mind set, I drove to Kohl's (on the way to the gym) and bought a new pair of work out pants. I love them too! They are yoga pants and so comfortable! I also tried on a super cute dress that was size 11. It was a great feeling. Lastly, I realized that I need to work on my posture. I thought that by pulling my shoulders back I was standing up straighter. What also happens with this is the my lower back curves unnaturally. What I need to do is engage my core (tighten my abs). This is going to be a big challenge for me but it is necessary.

Thank you, SanDiegoJohn. Your blog today helped me realize that I deserve the freedom that only forgiveness can bring.
