Dear Gamers and Shoppers,
I am writing this for the gamers and shoppers who spend their spare time indoors.
I had my heart set on a terrific hike this beautiful morning in the forest. Meet time was 7:00 a.m., had my duds ready to go. Woke up this morning with the forest on my mind and in my heart.
My knee and back were in bad form. I have had a bum knee for almost 2 decades and a bad back even longer. My better judgment kept me home. There will be other hikes, this is my only set of all me knees. It was a heart breaking choice, but the right one. And yes I did cry and feel sorry for myself a bit.
You can take my hike with all of its fun and adventure. Get off you rear and toss your sedentary electronic toys aside. You have your healthy youth and it is not eternal. Don’t waste it on the couch or at the mall.
One day you will you will want to trek in the forest but you will be too old with poor health.
I read a young mother’s blog who’s husband would rather spend his limited spare time gaming instead of with his kid. “Dude, take your kid out on a hike! Be a dad!”
I don’t get your choice to spend your weekends staying up till all hours of the night pretending you are having an adventure in the forest with fantasy creatures. You have real world adventures with real world people.
Past generations made the very wise decision to make sure we always had beautiful places to go to. Find one of those places and go while you still can.
