Update

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Today I updated my spark page to account for my break. I took a long needed break from spark mostly due to being overwhelmed with everything. Danielle only has 1 more week left with her crutches and has been healing so well it's almost easy to forget that she just had surgery last month. My family life is almost back to normal so now I'm preparing to get back to tracking my foods and exercise again. I have been going to the gym but only about 2x a week. I got the wii fit for Christmas so I also have been using that but I need to actually get into a set routine or I know I'll struggle. There are things that I just know about myself and if I don't stick to a routine, I easily stray.

So I hope all is well with all of you. I'm hoping to fully be back on spark by the weekend. I'm going to try to set a time each day so feel like I'm on here constantly but instead have a set time allowance.

Heidi, Glad you are back and again going strong. You are missed when you are gone but knowing that a needed break taken, can make all the difference in the total picture. Glad Danielle is healing. I know what it means to have a surgical operation to heal from. Only time can heal as in healing of our physical body in regards to fat that has accumulated over time.

To thine own self be true....you have lived up to that .... I am referring to knowing yourself and what makes it work. Even at my age I am still learning about myself. emoticon

Also I wanted to thank you for all the arrangements with the Buddy Teams.
Your the best,
Elaine

Nice to see you back! How do you like your Wii Fit? I got Wii Fitness Coach for Christmas and love it. I haven't used Wii Fit since getting Fitness Coach. Although, I am about to go watch Biggest Loser and get Wii Fit out to use during it. I bet Danielle will be happy to get rid of the crutches. Have a great remainder of your week.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Saturday, December 27, 2008

Hello all! I just wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoyed your holiday and are doing well. I've been so busy with my family and holiday preparation that I haven't been on here as much as I would like.

Danielle is doing much better. She doesn't have to wear her brace and foam boots any longer but still needs to use the crutches for another 2-3 weeks. She thinks she can go without them but I don't want her damaging her cartilage or other soft tissue that was repaired. Kids just don't realize that since it's not a bone break that they have to be more careful. She thinks because it doesn't hurt that she's better but it's not the case. She's ready to get rid of her "blood clot" socks too but she has to wear them another week. Thanks for all of your prayers for her recovery and healing. I really treasure all of your friendship.

I hope you have a Happy New Year and look forward to us all getting back at it in January!!
I love you all!!

Great news about Danielle. I hope she continues to heal nicely. We had a nice quiet Christmas here, oh and it was a white one. Have a safe, happy and healthy new year.

So happy to hear that Danielle is doing better. When our kids aren't well, we are worried and stressed. So it is good for everyone that she is doing better. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
MOMOFALEX 12/27/2008 4:13PM

So glad that Danielle is on the mend - I'd much rather hear that you're struggling to keep her on her regimen than hear that she's having a tough recovery.

Happy New Year to you Heidi - Jean
ANGELBELIEVER 12/27/2008 12:38PM

Merry Christmas to you and a wonderful 2009. Glad to hear Danielle is doing so well. I can see that she's anxious to get back to normal now. Can't blame here!

I'm back!

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

Thanks everyone for your prayers and concerns. Danielle made it through like the trooper she is. The doc talked to us after surgery and said that there was a muscle out of place that was interrupting the bone movement between her pelvis and leg bone. This was causing her tissue to get inflamed and red and is also what caused her labral cartilage to get torn. So it sounds like from this that surgery would have been the only way to fix it which makes me glad that we finally were able to have it. Danielle was in a lot of pain yesterday but this morning not so bad. She has light PT that she has to do 3x a day and it has worn her out so while she's napping I was able to hop on here. Anesthesia is almost worn off and she's starting to get her appetite back. I'm home from work today because we have to apply a cold treatment for 3 hrs on, 1 hr off for a total of 12 hrs a day. Plus she is still struggling & figuring out how to stand up and get around with crutches. Tomorrow hubby will be taking his turn so I can go to work.

Thank you so much everyone for all your prayers! I appreciate all of your support!!

The big day is here...

Monday, December 08, 2008

Well after a long anticipated wait, the day is finally here for my DD's hip surgery. I won't be on the computer much if at all tomorrow so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I certainly hope after all of this, that after she heals, her pain will be gone once and for all.

Hugs and kisses for you both.

I will say a prayer for your daughter to have a safe and successful surgery and a quick painless as possible recovery. I'll keep you in my thoughts also. Having somebody operate on one of your 'babies' would definately be emotional and stressful. Hang in there!

Lots of Hugs and Blessings,
Jen

UGH!

I hate the new scale already. I programmed it wih my age, height and sex to track all those things I won't ever use...lol...and weighed myself on it this a.m. It was 5 lbs higher than my old scale. I know this because I weighed myself on that one too. So I've decided to keep using my old scale until the end of the month and then on Dec 1st I'll adjust my starting weight for the new challenge and start using the new EVIL scale.

lol, when I switched to my WW scale(maybe the same one you have cause I had to program in the same things) it was 10 lbs. heavier than my old one. It was very depressing. When I weighed in at the WW meetings on their official scale it was 3 or 4 pounds less than my scale at home. I ran home right away and weighed myself wearing the same stuff. Don't let the evil scale get you down. Waiting till after the first of the year is a great idea. You'll have the most motivation at that time and there is a long stretch of time before anymore eating holidays come up. If it is the WW scale I have you may try weighing yourself on different surfaces in the house also. Mine varies a LOT between rooms. On carpet it is like 30 pounds less than on wood and on tile it is around 10 pounds difference than the wood. The wood floors have the highest weight so that is what I use. It's screwy. Scales, blahhhh.

I'm with you all the way Heidi. Isn't it funny the things we buy are alway evil.

HDPNLYNN 11/22/2008 12:58AM

It is so hard to switch scales. It is the consistency that is improtant. Great idea about waiting to change! Hugs, Lynn
BELG64 11/21/2008 9:05PM

LOL...I have one of those EVIL scales too...and I have kept my old scale right in my kids bathroom and I way myself on both scales....my official weigh in scale is my neighbors which is even more EVIL than my newer scale...oh well! As long as my weight keeps going down on all of them .....
On a different note ...I also wanted to say thank you for the great job you are doing leading this team.
ROLOHA 11/21/2008 7:58PM

It is hard to change scales...no two seem to be the same. Good for you for picking a date and making it work.

I love the comments about the Tanita and the Wii Fit. My Wii Fit was originally set up on carpet and it just wasn't being fair! My DH cut out some MDF to sit it on for stability, but it still varies because I can't keep it in the exact spot, and it also depends how I step on it! I hate the dang thing! LOL
CJBAGGINS 11/21/2008 5:45PM

I can soooooo relate. Check out my old blog on the same topic. Remember - your starting weight is higher if this scale is more accurate, so you haven't failed or gained 5 pounds, you were just working with faulty information! It doesn't belittle the work or progress you've done. cj

ETA - my old blog s called 'Took the Plunge' and is my very first one.

This happened to me too. Is your new scale a "Tanita"? I think Tanita is French for "Weighs More". This is why I weigh myself on my old scale (which weighs to the nearest 0.5 lb) and my "new" scale (which measures to the nearest 0.2 lb, but always higher).
MINORCANLDY 11/21/2008 3:25PM

LOL New EVIL Scales... My Wii Fit does that system so it even measures your BMI and I about fainted off of the Wii pad... LOL N o M O R E Wii For Meeeeee.....

Best wishes

OK Heidi, before you throw that nice new scale out the window, let me be the voice of reason. Remember that the numbers don't matter, it's how your clothes fit and how you feel.

Right? Are you buying it?

I know, screw that. The number on the scale DOES matter. But also know that whether you're weighing 133 or 138, you STILL lost a bunch of weight, fit into your new, smaller clothes beautifully, and are healthier than you've been in a long time.

Don't let that little pile of metal and electronics win. ;-)

You're funny Heidi. I didn't want to accept the fact the new didital scale is more on target than the old analog ones. Ugh! Oh well, Jan. will be your new start.
