Good Start

Monday, November 01, 2010

Well I weighed myself today and I have lost 10 pounds- which is wonderful. The Home Cuisine plan seems to be working well although I really need to increase my exercise. I have already gotten into a pair of jeans that were too tight and I do feel better with just losing that first 10 pounds.

I had a little setback yesterday and today with some Halloween candy, but I didn't go overboard so that is good.

So getting back to strictly eating only what's on my Home Cuisine plan and getting some exercise in is the goal for tomorrow.

Been gone for a long while- but I have some new goals so I am back

Friday, October 22, 2010

After a long year I have completed my pre-requisites for nursing school, obtained some funding, and was accepted into a RN program for the Spring. The program will start on January 10, 2011 and will last for 16 months.

I find myself slightly heavier than when I first started here several years ago, so that is disappointing. However, now that I have some concrete goals ahead of me I am finding that I have motivation to get healthy. I don't want to be the heavy nurse that is trying to help people become healthier, and who is a walking contradiction.

I have started with the Home Cuisine program which is pre-made fresh, healthy food that comes to 1200 calories a day. I am hoping it helps to switch the focus from being emotional and entertainment to just fuel. I am also committed to getting at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.

My ultimate goal is to be down to a healthy weight by the time I graduate from RN program.

Unburden

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

I honestly have hardly been on this site this year, which corresponds with me not really paying much attention to my health.

I've gained about 10 pounds but just really feel like crap at the moment- low energy, back, hips, knees, and ankles hurt most of the time, and I often don't sleep well.

I have a hundred of excuses why I have let things go in so many ways- many of them are legitimate excuses- but that doesn't really help me out at all. Whether I have had a lot going on or am just lazy- I still feel like crap.

I have isolated myself from many of my virtual and non-virtual friends, and i don't really know why. There has definitely been something eating at me while I eat away at everything else.

I was watching an episode of "Ruby" the other night and she was at a Girl's Fat Night meeting with a number of overweight women. There was a guest speaker who specialized in emotional overeating and started talking about food addiction. Most of the women didn't think this apply to them, although some where or had been hundreds of pounds overweight. I couldn't believe that they coulnd't see the obvious- it was so clear to me that they were food addicts. Then it dawned on me that I didn't think I was addicted to food myself- I was those women. I am close to 200 pounds heavier than what I should be- you don't get that way if you have a healthy relationship with food.

So I am starting yet again- but it is better than the alternative which is giving up. My goal is to unburden myself- from the extra weight, debt, and stuff I have accumulated. I am finding that I crave freedom- being free from health issues, not owing anybody anything, and living a less materialistic life with less stuff I have to check track of and deal with.

Heather, I hear you and I felt like I could have said a lot of the same things you wrote here. I have not been active on Spark this past year, and I can tell you there is a significant difference in my heath, my activity level, my weight, and my overall attitude in life. It saddens me that we seem to have this in common. Perhaps with the onset of warmer weather, we will find that motivation we once had and get back into gear! I know we can do this....
