Dusting this thing off!!!!

Friday, January 11, 2013

So it's been over 2 years since I actually blogged on here. SO much has happened in that time, so here's the short version...

*I've experienced 2 miscarriages (back to back)
*Unexplained fertility
*20 pound weight gain from pregnancies & surgeries (D&C both times)
*Got a dog (oddly enough right after we lost the second pregnancy)
*I started running again
* Completed half marathon #4 on 10/21/2012
*Convinced my husband to run with me again (half #1 for him & #5 for me in March)
*Decided to go big & run 2 full marathons this year!!!

Short version.....loss, a shift in focus & realizing through it all, I survived! I am forever changed but ready to focus forward, shed this extra fluff & reclaim ME!

Here's our Molly as a puppy! She's a goldendoodle & about quadruple that size now! emoticon

Been a long time

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I can't believe that it's been so long since I blogged here. Over a year so it seems. Much has changed....I got married in February, am almost back to my goal weight (just 6 pounds to go) & I'm in baby mode (though not the "OMG, I'm ovulating now" mode.)

Thanks so much for the super sweet comments that continue to pop up on my page. I check in now & then to read them. It reminds me why I put my story out there & why I work so hard. I love being able to motivate, inspire & encourage others. Believe me, if I did it, anyone can!!!

I do keep a blog that you are welcome to visit. It's at heathersfitnessjourney (dot) blogspot (dot) com. It's a lot of ramblings about all different aspects of my life. Some silly, some deep but mostly just fun!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

ps...here's a picture from out wedding reception!!! We got married in Vegas but had a big reception to celebrate with our family & friends!

I noticed an influx of emails today from the site & thought I better go see what's going on! I find that I'm the Motivator of the Day!!! Wow, can I just tell you how humbling that is for me!

I've been encouraged to share my story & did so with an online journal for a very long time. I started the blog too & have been slacking there a bit though.

I really just share my story so that people know it can be done! You don't have to live unhealthy lives or go to extremes to get healthy either! Good ol' exercise & workouts will do the trick. It will take time, it's not easy & sometimes you will want to quit but stick with it no matter what. You will get there! Setbacks will happen as well but as long as you persist with the lifestyle good things will come!

As for an update with me? I'm doing great. Eating well, keeping up the training program that my coach sets up for me, planning the wedding & am in fact just a couple weeks away from my bridal shower. I'm super excited!

Thank you all so much for the very sweet comments, encouragement, etc. It really does me alot to me!

Keep at your goals, never let anyone tell you that you "can't" & don't be afraid to go for it!!!!!!

Big hugs!

Congrats! I have found myself at your site on many occasions. If nothing else, just to see your transformation. You are indeed a motivator and you deserve your recognition.

All the best.

Summer time!

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Is it hot where you are? I'm in the Midwest & it was a steamy 98 degrees yesterday (plus humidity!!!) It's unseasonable & just too warm for me!

I've been more lurking around these parts lately but thought I'd post up. I do keep a blog that you can follow me at: www.heathersfitnessjourney.blogspot.com (shameless plug!)

I really really appreciate the encouragement & support of my journey (both past & present.)

My current goal is my wedding date: February 27, 2010!!!! I just want to be a healthy, happy bride. Being a good wife & future mother is dependant on me being healthy. I cannot take care of a family without being in good health myself!

As of yesterday, I was given the "all healthy" for another year. I had my annual exam (good times) on Monday & she understands the concerns I have as a result of family history so she kindly checks cholesterol annual along with blood sugar & thyroid. I got the "great" news yesterday afternoon.

My total cholesterol is 195, HDL is 70 (really awesome!) & LDL is 114. My HDL actually went up over the last year. Cheers to good health!

Do you know what your numbers are? You should...it's important for good health!

Catch you on the blog & I'll try not to be such a stranger :)

It's tomorrow......

Friday, January 09, 2009

So this is the time of the year where we all recommit to ourselves, being healthy & making this new year a better one!

I'm there myself & still carrying extra weight as a result of the metabolic damage that happened after my contest dieting. I did manage to maintain through the holidays though & I'm happy about that. I'm just a pound from where I started at on Thanksgiving. I call that a win!

Since I no longer set resolutions, here are my goals for 2009:

My goals have completely shifted from "I want to look like this or be this # on the scale" to "I want to be healthy for my lifetime."

*I want to get back to goal so I can work for WW & inspire others once again.
*I also realized this weekend that I need to take better care of my skin.
*I need to be true to myself.....always.*I will focus on the future & let go of the past. Yesterday's sermon was amazing....dont let the successes or failures of the past keep you from moving to the future! Live for today, focus on tomorrow!

Not a giant update but it counts!

Enjoy the blessings of the New Year, make sure people know how much you appreciate them & dont be afraid to make a change!

Until next time!
