I am thinking about a Vlog.... we shall see ... there might just be one in my future! emoticon

I am back to making progress.... back to seeing progress in this journey of mine and I LOVE IT!

It empowers me... makes me feel invincible!

Took a Tabata class last Wednesday and it was really great. HARD as hell, but REALLY great! Made my body ache all over and Im still struggling with sitting. LOL

Took an on the Ball class last Sunday and Can't wait to take it again this week.

EMPOWER YOURSELF.... it feels better than chocolate!

I was hoping my excitement and obsessing about healthy living would start to rub off and empower my family, especially my husband. But that is not happening.

It seems that the more I loose weight and the farther I run the more he eats and the more he does nothing.

I convinced him to buy a good pair of running shoes a few weeks ago with the thought that we could get out there together and i KEEP asking but he keeps declining.

Can lead a horse to water.....

I want to start trail running... I need to find some trails that I feel comfortable running by myself on.

    What a great blog.It's exuding your excitement, and yes, you should totally try a video blog. It's fun, allows people to see you, hear you, connect with you more, and even if the first one feels awkward, like a lot of them do, it gets easier fast.
Go for it. Already looks like you are going for everything else!

    Way to go Heather! I can feel your enthusiasm for your progress in every word you post - and you deserve it!

lol @ your hubby - boys can be so stubborn. Mine resisted at first, but once he saw my consitency, he came around. Yours might, too, but if not remember this: you're doing this for YOU and you alone. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Have fun with it!

Congrats on all your progress! And thank you for being the encouraging, enthusiastic woman you are.

This is for my own benefit.... Im getting lost in the challenges.... need to keep VERY good track of myself

Wednesday, May 11th through Tuesday, May 17th

Points for each are all or nothing with the exception of “R”!!! However, even if you do not reach the points required for an individual letter, you still should track your daily challenges as usual because your daily points will still be counted towards participation.

S – STEP IT UP on Thursday by completing at least 10 STEP IT UP options (each option can be done more than one time) = 10pts.
P – Post at least 5 times this week = 10pts.
I – Integrate strength into your routine by completing at least two 24/7 GYM options or five JAMs on Wednesday = 10pts.
R – Reconcile your calories in with your calories out by posting each Friday through Monday on our team thread = 10pts. per day
I – Intensify your cardio by completing 1/4 of your remaining LCW 6-week cumulative pledge minutes on LCW Tuesday (5/17) = 10pts.
T – Treat yourself to 20 bonus points by earning a perfect score on the above components!

NINJA BONUS (NB) = Add another 25pts. to your score if you burned more calories than you took in on Friday through Monday AND stayed in your calorie range all 4 days!

    Heather--this does seem overwhelming. But the thing I like about it is that it takes it very one day at a time. Other than posting, tracking your calories and doing the "calories in/calories out" (which we should do every day anyway...) you can just do one thing Wed, one Thurs, and one Tues.

I know you're going to do fantastic! I find if I write it up on a little chart where I can check off as I do it and carry it around with me, that helps keep me centered on what I'm supposed to do.

I struggled with my Hardcore challenge today... and I have been stressing and feeling bad about it all day .... UNTIL NOW..... I have decided I WILL NOT do that to myself....

I realize that these things should be a part of every day and for the most part they are for me but there are days when I just can't fit everything in.

Today and most days, I work a 10 hour day, I get up at 530am everyday to get ready for work... today I ended up getting off an hour early and went straight to pick up youngest daughter from a friends house. Sat there and chatted with the parents for a half an hour and then took my daughter out for a quick bite to eat and then shopping for all the "things" she needs to take on her outdoor ed trip next week.

By the time we got home it was after 9pm, I tidied and organized my desk a bit, plugged my phone in, changed into my jammies and FINALLY sat down.

MOST of my days are like this... and although I try really hard to eat healthy ( I ate salad for dinner out tonight... a good choice!) and to get my exercise in... there are days I just can't do one more thing.... like today!

I do try to hit the gym at least 4 -5 days out of the week. AND on all these days I NEVER get home before 730pm at the very earliest and then have to do all the house hold stuff before I eventually sit down, usually close to 9pm.

So I choose to keep doing the things Im doing that help me to work on me, the things that put that "SPARK" in my step. I choose to not let the challenges from my teams make me feel too pressured. I choose to be an active participant and to encourage and try to inspire others along their journey.

I choose ME!

    That is the exact reason I designed HARDCORE to be spread out however you like over the weekend. We never want to overwhelm our Ninjas! If you look closely at the challenge, I am willing to bet you did more than you think you did because like you said, these are things we do on a regular basis (or at least they should be)! I tried working at a daycare once and simply could not do it. The days were just too long. I didn't understand why they couldn't simply hire more people and shorten the schedules. Perhaps you can shed some light on that for me. :)

    Good for you. Spark & the challenges are here to help & inspire you, not make you feel more overwhelmed. I think we all have days we cannot fit in one more thing - just do what you can do, when you can do it & it WILL work for you.

    I like that you're aware that "choosing me" doesn't just mean choosing to do what makes you comfortable or fits into your life. I see a lot of Sparkers make that mistake. They use making themselves a priority as a reason to NOT do the challenges! What? The challenges are there for a reason. To stretch you and make you get outside your comfort zone. They're SUPPOSED to be hard--that's why they're called challenges :)

That said, you have to find a balance. If your weeks are regularly so busy that you do not have time for fundamentals such as healthy eating or exercise, then something has to change. But it sounds like yesterday was not the typical. If you're able to fit in going to the gym 4-5 days a week and normally aren't eating out on a daily basis, then you're doing terrific! We all have days like yesterday. Then we get right back on track.

I hope the rest of the weekend slows up for you and allows you to focus on yourself and your priorities!

This challenge is designed so that it can be evenly divided between 4 days; however, you can spread it out however you want during those 4 days (5/6-5/9). Limits are included in the tracking info provided below the challenge details.

H = Hydrate with 8 cups of non-caloric liquid = 3PTS. per 8 cups
A = Accumulate 30 cardio exercise minutes = 5PTS. per 30 min
R = Reinforce your upper body, lower body, and core in some SERIOUS strength training (at least 2 sets of 12 of 5 exercises per zone) = 5PTS. per zone
D = Discuss your thoughts with your teammates on our team thread = 5PTS. per day
C = Count and log every single calorie that enters your mouth AND stay in range = 10PTS. per day
O = Organize 4 small areas in your home – organization projects should take LESS THAN 15 min. = 3PTS. per project
R = Revitalize yourself with at least 16 servings of veggies = 1PT. per serving
E = Explore NINJA CAMP, find the secret phrase, and sparkmail it to Courtnay (FRISKY120276) = 10PTS.

It's Monday...

Id like to say the start of a new week but I consider Thursday the start of my week as Wednesday is my weigh in day. Make sense?

The plan today is to spend a couple hours working out... get some laundry done and make a nice dinner. Oh gotta go vote today as our federal election is today and I need to hit costco as well.... and if I can find another 20 minutes in there I need to give my bathroom a top to bottom fast clean.

WOWO! emoticon I CAN DO IT!

I am also starting the Spring Bootcamp today.... and working on getting 45 points worth of challenge in for my BLC16 Ninja team....

I CAN DO IT! Right?


I try to practice "the Secret" and "the Power" in my daily life.

I like the message that these readings give....

I have both books on my Ipod and I listen to them as frequently as I can. When I am feeling grumpy. When I do strength training at the gym, on my cardio cool downs and stretching... in the car when I am alone. (my family thinks they are hokey)

I like to LISTEN to these books rather than read them because I feel that the message is embedded deeper into my brain.

Practice being a positive influence in your own life! YOU DESERVE IT!

    I really enjoyed reading your blog. I like the message that those readings are saying as well, especially the one about not expecting others to behave the way that you want, so you can be happy. I think that one is hard to do, and it is is great reminder that we alone control our own happiness and it is our choice. Thanks for sharing these.
