Taking a Short Spark Break

This is mainly for all of my SP friends who have been so supportive over the past 10 months. I feel it's only right to let you all know that I am stepping back and taking a break from SP just until my wedding is over and we get things more organized at home.
I have absolutely no intention of stopping my healthy lifestyle journey. Just because I won't be logging in here as regularly doesn't mean that I am letting go of all that I have learned from the site and all of you wonderful people. In addition to the wedding, there are a number of significant changes happening in my work life that are taking up extra time right now and I unfortunately need to put more of my time into these areas for a while.
My regular weekly workouts are still very much a priority for me and preparing healthy meals for myself and my family will continue as well. I know that I will miss my regular contact with each of you and I will be back as soon as I can be. Thank you to each of you for all the support and motivation that have helped to get this far on my healthy journey and I promise I will be back before you know it.

Birthday, Zumba and Wedding Plans

Well yesterday was a great day. I got many well wishes from family, friends and co workers for my birthday, which made me feel very special. My wonderful daughters cooked a delicious supper for me and we ended the meal with a DQ ice cream cake (SO YUMMY!!)
I also went to Curves and had an awesome workout doing Zumba in the circuit. I am really loving this new Curves workout and look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays knowing that it's Zumba days.
And to end the day on a really positive note, DF and I met with our photographer for the wedding and signed a contract with her. Before DF showed up at the coffee shop I had a chance to chat with her about doing a boudoir session as a surprise wedding gift for him and we set some tentative plans for that as well (I quite nervous but also excited about it, I know he'll love it!!)
It was a great start to a fantantic year for me!!

Sore Legs and Running

I've been having some issues with my left knee lately and since Monday's run my calves and shins have been very tight. The tight muscles are not as much of a concern to me as the knee. Usually with in the first 20 minutes on the treadmill the muscles are warmer, limber and feeling OK but the knee pain doesn't ever completely go away. I don't want to stop running because I really love it but I'm getting a bit concerned because even when I'm walking I can feel it. Anyway, I don't run again until Saturday so I'm hoping that this is just my body adjusting to the changes in intervals that we are doing.
I'm giving myself one more run and if the pain doesn't subside I will get it checked out before I end up doing any permanent damage.

    Oh yes, careful with that knee! I am so impressed with anyone who runs on a regular basis- I've never enjoyed running, myself (too many jiggly bits). But I know it's great exercise.

It's definitely more important to take care of YOU so you can continue to make those goals!! So don't push it, ice down the knee, and listen to your body if it's telling you it's in pain.

We can do it!!

Starting to Blog Again

Shortly after I started this journey, I started blogging and found that it was a great way to keep myself accountable. Then July came, holidays came and I stopped blogging. I have continued to have success in my weight loss and have made great strides with improving my fitness, however, I believe thatmy successes and stides would be greater if I would have kept up blogging.

So today I am starting again! Tomorrow is my 46th birthday and I am 30 pounds lighter than I was on my 45th birthday. On July 2nd I will marry the love of my life and start yet another chapter in this journey called life. I am happier than I have been in many years and fully intend to enjoy everyday to the fullest.

My goals for February:
1. Log in to SP everyday - including week ends
2. Exercise 5 days a week
3. Log all my food - good and bad
4. Lose 5 pounds - break through to the 170's and don't look back
5. Enjoy everyday!!

    Welcome back! I definitely find that blogging helps me a lot, especially when I'm going through a rough night and fighting myself.

Good weigh in and a bit of back sliding

Well weigh in day was Wednesday this week, because I weigh at Curves and it's closed Thursday, Friday, Saturday this week because of the Canada Day Holiday. I was very pleasantly surprised that my weight was down 2.4 pounds from last week. That is over 15 pounds total in just 6 weeks!! I also had my measurement done. There were quite a few areas that I didn't lose anything, however I did lose 1.75 inches off my waist and 1 inch off my abdomen. Very happy to see that the inches are coming of in the right areas.
So on to the back sliding part. I have been doing so well with the 30 day shred until this week. I missed 3 days in a row of the shred and I really need to get back on track because I really don't want to go back to being sedentary. Also on the food front, yesterday was Canada Day and we had a huge family bbq last night. Everything looked and smelled so go and I gave in to tempation and over ate.
Today is a new day and my eating is back on track and I have already scheduled a time to get my shred done, so no more excuses!!
