Slacking off this summer...

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

As the weather warmed up I became too relaxed with regards to food tracking and eating in general. In the last several weeks I have been binge eating due to stress. I am going to try to ease myself back into tracking daily. I am expanding my daily calorie range to a high of 2000 so that I can just get used to tracking again, but still feel successful at the end of the day by reaching my calorie goals. Once I'm back int the groove then I will work on portion control etc.

Missed you all!!!

A New Day

Monday, May 09, 2011

Wow...its already the second week in May! I am thankful for spring because I love getting outside. It really helps me want to be fit and keep moving. So much daylight left after I'm done work for the day...love it!

As far as what I'm eating and weight loss I have been maintaining. But even though my weight hasn't been going down, I am still making good choices for the most part. I just need to be a bit more consistent and things will starting moving down again.

My dear sweet Mom came to visit for the weekend and we tend to make poor decisions when any two members of our family our together. We had lots of healthy meals but made our biggest mistake when we put all the 'sweets and desserts' out on the table after Saturday night dinner. We both kept grazing until we had to get up and put them away. Even the children were making better choices...they were eating clementine tangerines while my Mom and I were having cookies and candy.

So we talked about it the next day and agreed that when we are together we will not bring all the desserts to the table as has always been our tradition after big meals. It will be everyone serve themselves and get back up if you want seconds. That will make it much easier for us to portion control because we wont be tempted by what's sitting under our noses.

Little steps add up to good lifestyle changes! :)

Oh this is an excellent idea! You and your mom had a real and open conversation and together you are making a wonderful lifestyle change. I am so proud of your children they catch on quick to lifestyles don't they? Keep on making those small steps girlie and you will do just fine!

Hugs,

Kristin

EXCELLENT solution...........and don't forget to freeze individual servings of the leftovers so when company comes you can defrost individual servings and "dress it up" with low-fat pressurized whipped cream. Saves on waste, and on waist, ya know?

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
When selecting the candy to bring home for the Easter Baskets I made sure to choose candy that the kids and dh like and that wasn't one of my favorites. There will be lots of healthy vegetable choices with the meal. Hoping for a nice day so we can get outside and walk!

Happy Easter Spark friends! :)

Ate too much...yuck

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I went to lunch with co-workers and had a small salad and a cup of soup. It really wasn't enough. I started tearing into snacks afterwords like there was no tomorrow! Candy, nuts, 4 Biscotti! They were in the car for a trip I'm taking. I am so full and so bummed at my choices. If I'd had the grilled chicken sandwich on whole wheat I wouldn't have left the restaurant hungry and looking to binge. I didn't choose it because it came with delicious homemade chips. I hope I learned my lesson! Next time get enough satisfying food before I hop into a car full of snacks!

I like this blog, because I can relate all to well. I think we all have minutes like these. If you read my last blog you know what I mean by that. The great thing is you learned right away to nourish your body..and as for the chips...you can always toss them out, although it is a hard concept for me to learn..tossing out food.

Good luck to you,

Kristin

I think the chicken sandwich on wheat and maybe some kind of veggies would work better. I know I need fiber and protein to help me feel full or I can do the same thing. emoticon emoticon

Be hard on yourself but not to much that you let it ruin your day or your progress. You learned your lesson and that's great. If you went to a restaurant most places will let you substitute those chips for something more healthier like a small salad or some fruit. And if they don't pour a ton of salsa, pepper and salt over them so you dont over indulge.

Hot Yoga!

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

I've done it three times now...loving it! I've tried two of the three types offered. Each class, when it really gets going, I think to myself 'not sure if I can make it the whole class'. My arms and neck get pretty tired with some of the poses. And I'm making very slow progress with the balance poses. I was pretty sore the next day after the first two vinyasa classes but last night I did the bikram style and I feel great today! My joints and muscles are not achy. It really feels like a good workout and a good stretch all in one.

Very glad to have found this yoga studio!

I'm glad you're loving it! I find I'm more sore after the Vinyasa classes, but I think that's because we use our arms more, and my arms are definitely the weakest part of my body.

Balancing is HARD. It takes a lot of practice, and you need to celebrate the little victories. Even if you balance and extra 3 seconds, it's still an improvement!

Hope to see you again! I'm going to try to get to the hour class on Thursday at noon.
