Gorgeous morning.

I woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn't wait to get outside for my jog and walk. I was greeted by the sounds of crickets chirping and birds singing along with a bat flying around the front yard. The morning was cloudy, the sun was trying to peek through the clouds so there was some hot pink color staining the sky. It was beautiful. I just love to get up early and enjoy the morning! For me a focus on exercise as joy is way more motivating than will or determination and if I focus on how much joy I receive from these jogs and walks I will stick with it.

Well, my food journaling and exercise has paid off. I have dropped 3 pounds in a week and half. I am so excited. It hasn't been that hard either. I have been keeping my cals around 1500 and walking for an hour most days. I feel so good about myself. I really have enjoyed my walking workouts and that makes it a lot easier to stick to my plan. I have also been working with the healthy foods that I like to eat and working in a few splurges here and there so that I don't feel totally deprived. I think I can stick to this. Only seven more pounds to go to reach my first min-goal and I hope that I reach it by the end of July.

    Just stay with it you'll be amazed how a pound or two will add up really quick. Keep on keeping on!

Today is Great

I got today started off well with a walk that was ALL uphill for fifteen minutes and then 10 minutes to get back down. By the time I was done my legs were like jello. When I got back home I swept off the walk and porch to cool down. Then I did a half hour yoga video to stretch out my poor jelly legs.

Today has been a high energy day for me and I have been cleaning , doing laundry, and trying to organize our office. There are so many books in there and I need to get rid of a lot of them. I will be listing many on half.com and hope they sell. The others will be donated or put in storage. Organizing is such a struggle for me. I tend to just throw things in piles and then have to clean it all up. I always say that I will keep up with it on a daily basis, but I never do.

My food journaling is going well too. I have a small denim bag that I keep my journal and a calorie counting book along with a pencil. This way I can keep it all together and just grab it when I need it and everything is in one place. At least, this is organized, so far anyway - lol!!

Well, it seems I am restarting AGAIN!!! It is so hard to keep on track in the middle of classes. I'm finally through my summer terms and don't need to be back in school until mid-August. I plan to get back on track and make some progress during my time off. I am looking forward to my daily walks that I have planned. And I am looking forward to challenging myself by adding in some jogging. I think this is going to be a great summer!!!!!

  


New DVD

I treated myself to a new DVD since I am coming up on mid-terms this week. I chose 10 min. solutions slim and sculpt pilates using stretchie band. I plan on doing a segment of it every day after my cardio exercise. Lately, I've been letting my strength and flexibility training go and focusing entirely on cardio. I know that I need to be more well-rounded, but it really is hard to fit all of it into my crazy schedule. I should be able to find 10 min. to do some strength training and with pilates I'll get flexible too. Can't beat it. I'm soooooo looking forward to my workout today so I can try my new video! Anything to keep motivated.....
