Such a NSV for me

I am so proud- turned down an ice cream at costco and mcflurry at mcdonalds when we stopped at walmart this eve with dd. I thought about it and said the ice cream was habit and I wasn't hungry and knew I didnt have enough pts, and got hubby to check the rolo mcflurry and was 500 and thought naw I can have a hot choc at home, save $ and cals. So am enjoying my hot choc.

I also walked the dog today, then went on dd elliptical for two 5min intervals. I am going to do a 15 mins joyinky later as long as my knee isn't hurting. We were in walmart and it went crack and then it and my back hurt so will see in a bit.

Okay off to have my hot choc and maybe read.

    I read this to find out what NSV. Read your blog and still don't know. That aside----You did great on your eating. You are a wonder to go out with and shop. You will make sure I don't over load on my eating.

Dull monday but a great start to the day

Sure there is no sun out, but I can create my own. I took the dog out for a walk and met up with an old walking dog friend who is out earlier than I am nowdays. I was up early cos have dr apt this am and wanted to get our walk in. Was great to catch up and have a chat.
Did a silly thing this am, I rarely get on the scale more than once a week if that. Well weighed in sat for the 5% challenge and thought hey do it this am cos going to dr etc. and I am up! I wasn't impressed but then thought, good grief girl it is the start of day 3, day 1 I was over in cals, and yea I am walking more,and moving more but not that much till I find out from dr and physio about the brace. So give myself a pat on the back for what I have done, even if the scale hasn't acknowledged it!!
I have to go to dr this am and then we are going to dads and dds. I may run over a tiny pr of booties mil knitted for eva as forgot to give them to them yesterday. Thomas was funny, I went over for a min last night to drop something off, and he was laying in hallway getting his bum changed looks up says hi ya! then sounded like howya doin but not sure, so I said I am well how are you, he just smiled LOL anna just laughed what do you think he said!
Got this in my email today and thought it was great motivation and so pretty as her painting/drawings are:

So keep on doing what I am doing, walking more, walking with joyinky every day! lol eating healthier and less and just thinking positive. I also try hard to get in at least 15 mins of yoga or meditation rest every day. Oh must sign up for back care yoga today for tomorrow. I imagine she is back and my knee is still sore but I can pad it or do variations.

Okay best go brush my teeth, won't want to breath on the dr! lol and get ready to start this day.... make it a great day and you won't be dissapointed in your choicees!

Editing to say dr apt was fine, go back in feb for refills and notes on spec apt in Jan. Said walk when you are able, do what you know you can do and you do realize there is only so much I can help you with... take tylenol or your morphine if needed. I know you wont overtake either so just take care, don't fret over your house stuff and have a good xmas. good you are trying to lose wt, won't harp on you cos you know what to do and yes it is hard when you are told not to move too much.
So was pleased with him, and he with me. Now off to get the rest of the day underway. I am hungry, but not sure what I want, immediately go for toast but know that is reflex. I think some greek yogurt with blueberries. had cereal with banana but that didnt fill me this am. add some walnuts to the yogurt and flax.
there solved that, if still "hungry" when I am done that's what I will have.

    Wow awesome, sometimes I still feel hungry after I have eaten so I wait 15mins then I drink one glass water, then after 15mins if I am still hungry I will have a piece of fruit. I am so enjoying our friendship. Glad the doctors went well, have a great day

    Cindy, You are doing so much better than when we first met! You are making lifestyle changes and holding on to the things that work for you; walking, yoga, tracking. Slow and steady wins the race. Hope you get good news at the Dr. today.

Sunday sunday instead of monday monday

Sunny and was nice early this am, took dog for walk, was 30 mins. Got some other stuff done, and now we have been discussing staying in this house and cost to make it feasible for dad vs buying new, buying old. omg the tax on new housing is nuts 15% of it all easilly is over 40-50 thousand. geesh.
So then we start looking at houses, okay but not alot new from before and we have to go buy dads xmas present and then go to dd to put the trim around her window.
Ds and family are out getting a tree, that will be fun this year. Anna can bundle Eva against her and Chris and Thomas can run around getting a tree lol ha.
We are going to get one soon too. Oh just remembered have to remind hubby as he said to, bring up the snow tires and put in back of car. if we see a place in our travels that isn't busy, then we will stop and get them put on.
Okay gotta get moving along. food great so far, water not so much.... will put it all together in one package yet!!

    So many options to consider with the house. What a relief it will be for you when it's finally decided. It was lovely here too. Had my dog client today, so poor DeeOhGee didn't get as long of a walk as she prefers.

Such fun Saturday

Well we went to the craft fair where I met 3 of my old workmates had a short chat and then on our way. Found my best friend and neighbour who is the organizer so she was too busy for a chat but promised i would get out before xmas.
Walked all over the school looking at diff displays from 10:30 till 3 or so. not fast walking but didnt' stop. Then we went for lunch as 2 of us were getting hungry. I had fries and a chicken wrap that as fairly dry so not much mayo - fine. but having that did put me over for the day but that's okay. Progress not perfection and I stayed away from the fudge table, didn't even stop but hubby did buy some peanut brittle, no thanks so fine.

Got a gift for mil, a reversible purse, just a tapestry material I and sister in law think she will like it. then sil bought her a really nice sweater that I saw and said gee think of you but also your mum so she said yea and chose that. I got myself a pr of earrings from the guy I alwys buy a pair from and a necklace. so did okay.

I saw some homemade cards there and they are selling for $5 a card!!! dd and hubby both saying mum yours are as good. but I can't imagine selling a card for $5 I know hallmark is still in biz. but gee. anyway......... something to think of.

Have a message from library saying a book is due tomorrow and haven't finished it yet. so want to get that done this eve. May have a bath and then hop in bed and read. but if I am in bed too long my back hurts so will see.

Think for now I may go do some yoga, must remember to change my mins on my cats challenge if I do that, have to re add a page. lol

    I have a friend who started a small home business with her homemade cards -- and eventually she was able to quit, and then to hire some employees. She scaled the business up or down, as she needed, so she could spend more time with her kids when they needed her.

Think about it!!

Mums oatmeal date cookies

I have had a few people wanting the recipe, it is just a reg. oatmeal cookie recipie, and you roll it out to about 1/4 inch cos you use two baked cookies for 1 cookie. you cook the dates in some water about 1/4 to 1/3 cup depending on amt of dates and cook on med then low heat till soft. Let cool. Once cookies are baked and cool just put some dates between them. I do not add anything to the dates although mum always added sugar and lemon b ut dad hasn't mentioned them tasting diff.

Oatmeal cookies with date filling
1 cup of margarine ( original recipe was shortening)
1 cup brown sugar
mix till fluffy then add
1/2 cup milk
mix these 3 together well
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups oats
mix well I find I always need more flour to roll these out so they don't stick to counter
Roll thin but not too thin about 1/4 inch or so. I also take a bit of the dough at a time so it won't get tough from adding flour and rolling it.
Bake 350 for 10 mins

1 pkg of dates or more if want lots of filling Make sure they are pitted
1/4 -1/2 cup water
put in saucepan and cook over med heat for few mins till softens then low or even simmer just till soft. Let cool.

then take 2 cookies put dates between them and ENJOY 1 with a cup of tea.... and I dare you to eat just one!! I will be watching you only 1. lol
