Smile more, worry less, You are worth it

Sunday, January 03, 2010

I know it's the season of stress but,.... this is ridiculous.
My sister's Mom-in-law passed 2:00 AM yesterday. My friend Cheryl's Mom-in-law passed in the afternoon. And this morning, at church I heard Jim (mid-50's) had a sudden massive coronary and passed yesterday.

Please people, try to not overdo and stress at this time of year. Tomorrow is coming, your friends and family want you to be here. Your presence is the greatest gift. emoticon

Smile more, worry less, You are worth it.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Bad things always come in threes, eh?

Hopefully everyone will take a deep breath, smile, and remember that the holidays are a time to enjoy being with loved ones, and to be extra young at heart!

You know I read somewhere that it is the USA that has the biggest problem with heartattacks, etc. But we eat some of the same foods as other countries do, since some of our McDonald's are over there. I agree, there is lots of stress.

Sorry for your losses.

No Resolutions!

Thursday, December 31, 2009

Do you make resolutions? I think they are a bad idea.

The word resolution implies perfection. And any changes imply Failure. If you Fail you want to give up.

emoticonWho among us is perfect? Who lives a perfect life? Does nothing unusual ever happen?

The dog never rolls in something, gets sick, bolts after a squirrel? You never get any urgent calls from friends or family? (and have to alter your plans) You only get sick on schedule? Etc,Etc. Resolutions FAIL,…..

Do make Plans and Decisions. Plans and decisions can be modified to suit the circumstances. If you can’t exercise Monday morning because Mom calls and needs to go to the doctor. Then, you exercise Tuesday instead. You didn’t fail, you altered your plan. YOU ROLLED WITH THE PUNCHES! You did great, you are winning.
emoticon

If you don’t stick to plan 100% (we are all human), it has not failed. More important, you haven’t failed, and can continue from where you are at.

Happy New Year!
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Remember plans can start anytime. So, if you don’t start yours January 1st, there are 364 more days in 2010.

The word Resolution doesn't inspire, and I don't use that word, but I do use New Year's day to remind and recommit myself to my Goals. I just try to challenge myself to go a little further/push a little harder towards something. Last year I began adding something to my life, rather trying to give something up. Maybe that's just semantics in the end, but it made me feel better about it, anyway! :) Best of luck to you in the New Year! (love your Snoopys, btw)

I haven't had much luck with New Year Resolutions.

When I set shorter term goals, they're always too ambitious, and I rebel against my own plans, and then I fail.

I've had better luck with longer-range goals like New Decade Resolutions. I rocked my climbing 20s, rolled my settled-down 30s, and I'm going to polish my 40s!

Let's get together on the Team Maps

Wednesday, December 30, 2009

I read another members post yesterday about Team Maps. I had forgotten if I ever knew about them. Anyway..... I love the idea of seeing a map with a general idea of where the members live. So, I posted a request in some of my teams message boards. I'm not sure I hit all my teams, or how often everyone visits the team boards. So...

Join me on our Team Map. Team Maps shows members general locations, useful for finding exercise -support buddies. emoticon It will not show street address.

How? Go to My Tools - Start Page under Start - Account - Email Preferences. Go to Community tab. Edit Community Preferences, Click the Spark Teams link .
In the list of Spark Teams check the box for Show on Team Map

Want to see the Team Map? It can be found at bottom right of Team Page.

Hope to see you on the map soon!

You can zoom in, using + sign, move with your arrow keys, and click on pins, to show spark names. For instance, I zoomed in and picked your marker (first try- emoticon) you are from the Warren, Ohio area. (I go to that area about once a year for a family reunion).

My Spark Teams

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

I am removing myself from some of my Spark Teams. I find that I am more active on some teams than others right now. I hope none of my spark friends are offended. I just hope to concentrate on a smaller number of teams for now. I am trying redefine my focus, so some teams may come and go for a while. Like life, changes are inevitable. The teams may change but, my spark friends are always welcome! You are important to me!

I know what you mean...one can only spread oneself out so much, right?

But hey, I DO appreciate your recent contribution to our message threads @ Laid Off! Hope you'll stick around...! :-)

I also had to do the same. I removed myself from some of the teams I didn't visit or participate it. I called it Team Cleaning.

I had to do the same thing. Some of them are just too big and I feel that I get lost. I am sure I will delete more as the time goes on.

Keeping Christ in Christmas

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

The last few years just haven't seemed quite right to me. But, I always find joy and reminders of my blessings as long as I focus on the CHRIST in Christmas. Doing some inexpensive things for the season focusing on the Christian spirit bring my feelings to light.

Last Sunday I went to a Christmas concert in a local (within the county) Church. I was given the tickets but, tickets asked for nonperishable food item. So, I had a great time, (I took my mom.) helped others, too.

I enjoy helping with the adopt Christmas families at my church, too. It feels so good to contribute to those who need it. And I'm always filled with wonder at the beautiful contributions we get. Many of the used clothes we get are pristine, immaculately cared for. And many times the clothes we get are new, still bearing the tags. One of the best days to help is our distribution day. If you help with it once, you will be inspired to to help with the sorting, folding, labeling, and all the rest. Because the joy and gratitude on the families faces is truly a blessing.

Looking forward to distribution day this Saturday.
