The Good, The room to improve and the general update

The Good:
I have gotten plenty of sleep and kept up with my daughter this month.
I have not had any incidents of psychosis which is huge!

The Room to Improve:
I only made it to the gym a few times.
I ate just "okay".
I am seriously fighting depression and have been for almost a month.

I have serious vacation"itis" and am looking forward to a few days to myself this week and a trip to Chicago to see athenalisa, my favorite human. I will also get to see my brother and some old friends which should be fun. One more day of work and I'll be free for a whole week!

    you have to acknowledge where you are for any of your progress to make sense or take hold... realizing you have been down for about a month is instrumental in that.. Eating ok, getting to the gym, those are all HUGE parts of taking care of yourself and getting yourself some of that TLC that you need and deserve. I'm glad you've been connecting with your daughter and will have the opportunity to get together with other friends you enjoy!

  Wow! To see the "good" and to know on the "room to improve" you are eating okay and made it to the gym a few times while simultaneously dealing with depression shows me you are a very strong woman! Have a WONDERFUL time on your trip and with your friends and brother.

Well, I've had quite a few challenges this month, here is the main one:

I started taking a new hormone called Symlin.
The good news, it cuts the amount of insulin I need in half.
The bad news, it metabolizes all of my psych meds very quickly and I have hallucinations.

I've been working with my endochrinologist and my psychiatrist to find a solution but so far there doesn't seem to be a happy medium. Chances are I'll have to stop taking the Symlin because the insulin works and the psych meds work, when I don't have it. It was supposed to be easier on my liver and hopefully help with my weight loss efforts. I'll see what the psych has to say next week, but my mental health and my diabetes have to be my priorities. It's just not fair that one effects the other so negatively.

I am still working out a couple of times a week and taking walks around the neighborhood. I'm off to update my fitness minutes soon. I'm just frustrated because I feel like my meds should work together to make me healthy, not work against each other to make me crazy.

I'm still here though and still fighting the good fight. I need to do some tracking and some exercise in the next week.

I start training for a second job on Monday and am hoping that I can handle working both jobs simultaneously. I'll give it a month at least to see how I do.

    I'm sorry your meds are counter-acting each other.. that is not good.. I hope they can find something that will help you without elevating your other problems. Two jobs and hallucinations seems like a heavy load to handle.. I'll be thinking of you in my prayers

    Balancing meds is always fun (NOT). I know exercise is supposed to help (mentally as well as physically) - maybe you can up the intensity of your walks a bit? It may help. I know it lowers my cholesterol. I often walk briskly in place while I would otherwise be standing still - at home, of course, usually while waiting for dinner to cook, the microwave to beep, the coffee to perk, etc. I think even that helps me out a bit!

    Good that you are still fighting the good fight. Sorry that you have to stop Symlin that was helping. Can the dose be reduced so that it does not affect the insulin as well your other meds? Keep exercising and eating well balanced meals as they good for for mental and physical health.

Improving

Hello friends, my mental health is improving slowly but surely. I follow up with the doctor on Monday. I did not make it to the gym this week between my brain and my tooth but the tooth is out, the brain is improving and I have 3 dates scheduled with the gym next week.

Today I am going to try and get some playground time in with my P. It's fun to swing and climb and chase her and it burns more calories than reading books. emoticon

I hope you all have a great weekend. I know I intend to make the most of every minute I have with my family.

Hello friends, here is yesterday's promised blog post. I was going to write it while P was at gymnastics but we drove an hour to get there and found them closed for spring break, so no downtime for me. Anyway, I have been a piss poor teammate the last week and for that I am sorry.

I have had serious mental health struggles which landed me back in the hospital for IV and IM meds, I also have a cracked molar which I can't get removed until Thursday. So I have done some exercise and some healthy eating but mostly I am just working on survival. I have had a med change and will see my doctor again in two weeks and while I am a little nervous about it, I am going to trust him and hope that it is the right choice.

I'll try to be back on track this week, but until the tooth is out I may be kind of quiet. If we don't have a snow day tomorrow I'll head to the gym before work and do some much needed strength training.

Thanks for being patient and supportive, you ladies are amazing.

Sugar Free ---still rocking it!

Jog/Walk 30 miles---halfway there

Workout 4 days a week (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri) ---On track, even snuck in a Tuesday

Eat at the table with no distractions (no tv, no book, no phone, no journal) Great at home, still a struggle during lunches at work.

Journal daily ---Doing great

Read Tarot/Meditate most days---doing great

Save money in emergency fund.
