Walking at Lake Havasu

Monday, August 10, 2009

There are many nice trails and walkways near the water at Lake Havasu. One starts near the site of an old military airport. Following that for a mile or so, you can cross the street to look at Site 6 where the public can launch their boats at no charge. It was once the area where military sea planes landed during WWII.

Continuing on the trail, you can look across the lake to Havasu Landing, a casino on the California side of the lake. To get there, you can board the Dream Catcher. The round trip is just $1, and there are coupons in the local paper for free rides.

After circling the island, you can walk down to the beach.

Following along the beach path, you can see the famous London Bridge.

Sorry ORIGAMIFREAK, the swap meet is closed down for the summer.

Hmm. How many miles is it around the island? Looks like it would be about 6 miles. That could be an interesting paddle...

Photo Tour of Lake Havasu City, AZ

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

If you haven't visited Lake Havasu in the past few years, you will be surprised how good looking and interesting it is becoming. Last year, an outdoor mall opened with many nice stores like Dillards, J. C. Penney, Michaels, PetSmart, Super Walmart, and many more.

The lake is the chief draw, of course. Here you will find the London Bridge which was purchased and imported in 1972 by Robert McCulloch, the owner of the chainsaw company of long ago.

The lake is approximately 40 miles long and 5 miles wide.

Coming soon will be more photos of the lake and the surrounding community.

Great job, Linda! That is definitely NOT the sleepy little burg I remember. The only thing unchanged is the bridge! Looking forward to more.
