I'm close to losing five pounds! I can't believe it! I've been trying to lose the weight for so long and now I've actually done it and lost a few pounds! It's the exercise - that's the key. The weight wouldn't come off without the exercise.

And I'm loving the exercise. Just got my yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do. (I broke a board with my foot! ) And it just feels so good that I constantly think about class and can't wait to go back.

I'm on my way and excited about the journey!

My First Blog Entry

I'll have a photo taken and will post here. Gotta have the before photo, right?

OK, here's the truth: I've been wanting to lose this excess weight for a very long time. I've been fit most of my life but after the birth of my third child, the weight just stayed on. Shortly after that, when the economy tanked, I was one of the unemployed statistics and my weight really skyrocketed. I thought it would come off naturally, but now, over a year later, I'm still officially overweight and just a few pounds shy of being obese. Yikes! How did THAT happen? How did a formally fit marathon runner become nearly obese?

Last year, I made it a goal to lose the weight. I tried. I started running a few times a week. I started SparkPeople. I was here religiously. But it didn't help.

This year I'm working harder. I'm focused. I've GOT to lose this weight and get back into shape. So here's my first blog post. My first effort. I'm on my way...

    emoticon We're all in this together! When I had my yearly physical and the doctor wrote the word "obese" in my chart, I was mortified. That's what lead me here.

  This is my first blog entry. I have tried all my life to loose weight....up,down,up,down,etc. Even had weight lose surgery back in 2001. Went from 265 to 165, now weigh 215. HELP. I'm an all or nothing gal, will do great for a long time then something derails me and all my progress to date goes out the window. Still have a tiny stomach, just need help to work it and loose this extra weight. Hate myself when I am fat. Hoping that yet another try (with SparkPeople) will put an end to this roller coaster. I am 53 years old. sincerely, debs
