A New Look and a New Name

Thursday, April 04, 2013

After writing the blog called My Makeover, I decided to revamp my SparkPage because it just seemed like a bummer.

I even decided to change my user name from Fight4NewLife to HappyDOES!
(I was thinking to myself, "Happy is as Happy does.")

I hope you like the look of my new page.

I have decided to make losing weight a PARTY!
It is going to be FUN!

I will make it my goal to find a fun way to move every day and to find colorful food to eat and to make the plate look festive. I will also make it my goal to be more social by calling a friend and getting out in the sunshine and doing things together.

I may not be able to change the fact that right now I am fat, but I certainly don't have to be depressed about it. No! I can be fat and happy!

So I Will! (until I'm not fat anymore) emoticon

Today is my first day of "navigating my way back to myself" and I was so inspired by what I read in your blog. I LOVE your 'HappyDoes' title and immediately understood the meaning. I am so proud of myself for FINALLY getting on the lose-the-fat track. I exercised twice today and logged all my food and wanted to share with you because you are so upbeat -- a great role model for me, who gets discouraged quite easily! Keep up the happy colors and spirits!

My Makeover (*)

Thursday, April 04, 2013

I need a makeover.
More to the point, my LIFE needs a makeover.

I miss the old me...the one who was fun and interesting and full of life.
Being fat has drained the fun and confidence right out of me.

I have decided that I am going to find ways to incorporate FUN into my life and make these things a habit so that I can become the person I want to be.

This morning, I woke up after a very long night of interrupted sleep, feeling extremely tired. I sat on the sofa yawning for a couple of hours and reading on SparkPeople.com until I finally motivated myself enough to get off my bum, turn on one of my favorite upbeat CDs, and dance for 12 minutes, which was equal to about 4 songs. Since I get up several hours before my husband, it gives me the perfect chance to do this every morning.
AND I feel SO much better...

Do I look more fun???

Yeah...I think I do! LOL

So, my quest has begun.

My plan is to come back here as I find more fun things to add to my life and make a list of them that I can choose from whenever I need a boost.

FUN things:

*DANCE every morning (noon, afternoon, evening, night, or anytime...and when i really get brave, add ANYWHERE!)

I learned a lot today

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

I have read and learned a LOT today.
I started a sleep journal and read several articles about sleep and how necessary it is to our overall health and also to weight loss.

Today started off with me feeling exhausted and I have fought sleep all day.
I also felt discouraged this morning but by the time I finished reading everything and now see all that I accomplished on this website today, I actually feel better about myself tonight.

I will be ready for a good night's sleep and to start all over again tomorrow to learn more that will help me in my weight loss journey and lifelong maintenance.

Love is what matters

Tuesday, April 02, 2013

I have been studying 1 Corinthians 13 and trying to memorize it.

I love the way it is written in The Message version of the Bible.
Here it is...

1 Corinthians 13

The Message (MSG)
The Way of Love

13 If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

2 If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing.

3-7 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

8-10 Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

11 When I was an infant at my mother's breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

12 We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

13 But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

There are a many things that empress me in this chapter. Well, hey...the entire chapter ROCKS!...but here are a few:
"...I am bankrupt without love."
"Love never gives up."
"Love cares more for others than for self."
"Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end."

I especially love the way it ends...

"But for right now...we have three things to do...: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love."

And so I am trying to make it the one chapter of the Bible I read every day. I am also planning to paint it on the wall of my foyer and to paint quotes about love and other Bible verses throughout my home that will help to guide me through life because the Bible says to keep the Word before our eyes.

Let love lead.

That's my goal...even in my weight loss.
