Well it is that time of year again!

Each year I have my head shaven to help raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

St. Baldricks helps raise money for research to find a cure for childhood cancer!

Having lost a 6 year old son to cancer . . . this is a cause so near and dear to my heart!

A Moment To Reflect!

Today I would like to ask a favor.

If you have a candle . . Please light it and take a moment to reflect.

Reflect on all the people in your life. Those that are with you now and those that have gone. Whether they have moved away or you are no longer in contact with. Those that have passed on and those that are just a faded memory of an era gone by.

Reflect on their lives and the contributions they gave to this world and all that they contributed to your life that may have helped in shaping your life for the way it is today.

Though some memories may be more pleasant than others, they all are a part of who we are.

Time is precious and holds a bounty of opportunities for us. For in these moments we have the power to create the most wonderful of happenings that tomorrow we will look back on as moments to reflect on!

Moments with you Joshua will forever be with me. Though Time does attempt to erode the memory as sand wears at the rock. The rock breaks the sand and the sand polishes the stone. Though we have been pommeled, adversity has polished us to show our true Strength.

Together we have etched memories between us that stands the test of Time. The only way they may be lost is if we fail to remember them.

And I will remember you forever!

Light One Candle!

Every year on this day . . I light one candle. I have been doing this since 1995.

Below is a photo of a little boy sitting next to me in front of the waterfalls in Niagara Falls, Canada. His name is Joshua!



Today, Joshua would be 24 years old. He was born November 9th ,1988

He was born healthy and happy and had such a zest for life. He never missed an opportunity to laugh, to smile, to 'slap ya five' and refuse broccoli!

He enjoyed Head Start schooling and also enjoyed Kindergarten! Gym was his favorite class and 'dodge-ball' was his true calling. I think he could have made it an olympic sport!

In March, 1993 Joshua was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, T-cell type.

In the melee of treatment asked him once shortly after he was diagnosed what he thought of his cancer. "I don't like it . . but it's OK!" He never whimpered nor cried about the treatments nor the pain they must have caused his little body.

He always called me a 'wascally wabbit' and he was donned with 'Mr. Wonderful'

Each morning we got up together and started the day with this song:

His attitude was always happy and he was ever looking for the next adventure . . the next laugh and the next moment!

At the end of the day . . we cuddled close and he would play his favorite song:

Most often . . he would be asleep before it ended. On the harder days he would ask to play it a few more times before he fell asleep.

Just a couple weeks before his passing in '94 Josh saw a photo of hot air balloons and said, ' Someday I'm going to ride in one of those!' Sadly, that day never came for him.

Joshua was flown from Iowa City, Iowa to Syracuse NY by Life Flights: pilots that donate their time, plane and fuel to carry terminally ill patients home... free of charge!

Life wonders what you would have become Joshua, but I rest in the comfort and the solace that you were at your best. You took Life as it was and continued to smile . . a living example of acceptance and courage!

So I spend days in thoughts of you . . lost in the wonder of you Mr. Wonderful ! I think of you in your balloon floating all over the earth . . touching lives and inspiring the kindred spirit to share in the One-ness of us all!
