emoticon emoticon I am "almost" lost for words...!!!
I had lost 35+ lbs. and was eating great by mid November. I went in to see my dr. for my yearly blood work expecting nothing other than good ...
I finally found out last week, my cholesterol and triglycerides went through the roof....WHAT??

I'm now on cholesterol medication and will go back in a month to check if it's working. I busted my ass for 6 months to eat properly and lose weight.... I'm totally shocked and so was my dr.

I'm setting up new goals, setting up a low cholesterol menu and shopping list on sparkpeople and see what happens within the month.

Changing my teams to cholesterol, heart and high blood pressure support.

If anyone else has other ideas to help me .... please, please, please do!!!

Thanks, Carol emoticon

My aunt was a tiny little thing and extremely active. She mountain biked and roller bladed regularly. She ate pretty good as well. Her cholesterol was thru the roof. Like ALL IS Amazing said- heredity does you in sometimes.

Just keep at it. You are on the right track! Hang in there!

How frustrating when you were expecting good news! That happened to me, too. And I was on pravastatin. The doctor is sure that I wasn't taking my medication, but I was. I don't know what else to do, either.

It sounds like you are doing everything right! They told my dad that his cholesterol problems were hereditary and that's why he had high cholesterol even though his lifestyle was healthy.

READY......SET.......GO!!!

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Well on top of everything else, I want to start blogging about my progress on my 12 week challenge with the BLC21. I'm proud to be a part of the Steely Sapphire Soldiers and tomorrow the battle starts.

I have put down a goal of losing 15 lbs. but my main, huge, gigantic, superdedooper goal is making a habit of working out! My fellow soldiers have already assigned us our orders and believe me it will be no easy task to complete. But I think this will do it for me! Because of total lack of exercise over the last few months, I should and easily will meet my goal of losing weight because of the workout commitment to my team!

Well off to bed earlier than usual as I hope to be "mall walking" at 7:30 A.M.
Soooooo.... good night and hope to check in with you tomorrow!!
SPARK HUGS emoticon

Yes, this is me exactly! I also have a goal of losing 15 pounds (well, I think in kilos = 7kg!). I've also been so slack on the working out for months. I did most of the fitness test yesterday and cried when I could only hold the wall sit for 35 seconds. My personal best is 4:20!!

That's ok. We're starting from today, and I am so excited to think where we'll both be in 12 weeks if we just stick with it. I commit to working out: For myself, for the Sapphires, for you. Go us!

Carol - I never exercised before BLC. Now I "streak" faithfully! It changed my life view on fitness minutes! I actually have EQ that is used in my house. I've been tracking my miles on my recumbent bicycle and am over 2000!

I love your page! It's Very SAPPHIRE!

Yay!!! I"m so glad you're a Sapphire!!! Blogging about it is such a great tool and plus, I like seeing blogs from the people I actually am teammates with!!! BLC 19 really helped me establish exercise as just a routine part of my day...and BLC 20 cemented that fact to the point I ran a virtual 5K on Thanksgiving, worked out throughout the Christmas break too! You'll do great and find what you need on this team!!! Good luck in the morning to you!!!

You should know by now that challenges/dares are the way that I get motivated. So I challenge you to get at least to 30 fitness minutes this week, preferably split into two or more sessions!

I couldn't comment on your status update as it's set to private.. but it's dark and rainy here too.. One thing about dogs, they don't seem to mind to go out in the rain, so I'll be out for at least 10 minutes.. hopefully more..

Have a great day..and enjoy your week off and enjoy your own time..

I use Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds DVD. The moves are easy and you can do it at home. You will surely work up a sweat! I didn't use the video today, but while I watched my DVR of Top Chef, I did the moves. I can feel the burn in my muscles!

Hey, wow! sounds great a week off AND do not have to do anything for anybody. I am not work outside the house, but keep books, pay role, and invoices for my husband's small business. I taught school for 23 years and my weight got the best of me, with knees pain day and night. So, now I keep up the business end of my husband's small construction co. He does stone work. He thinks I don't do anything. So I also wait hand and foot on him when he is home. I can't jump too high. (LOL) I can't wait to see your Vblog. Hurry up and get it done!! I know what you mean about not exercising. I hate it. I HURT ALL THE TIME AND DON'T WANT TO REALLY MOVE. I have joined an water aerobics class and it is really easy and it does not make me hurt all over. I even burn MORE calories in that class than I do an low impact exercise class, this is according to my Hear Rate Monitor. I love the HRM because I can see how much calories I am burning when i do exercise or just do anything. You might like to get one and use it. I got my at Wal Mart for around $38.00

FIBROMYALGIA FUNK....very upset!

Sunday, October 21, 2012

It's Sunday.....not happy today! Need a "Spark" emoticon
I'm so sick and tired of being "sick and tired".... My illness (fibromyalgia) is getting the upper hand right now and there is nothing I can do about it emoticon
The pain is becoming worse so I'm thinking a trip back to the doctor (who knows nothing about fibromyalgia) can give me a new and improved medication, that will work better ?? emoticon
Fibromyalgia is a "bad word" as far as I'm concerned. There is not a single doctor out there where I live that will see me (rheumatologists included) or that even care....because..."I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA"... It's like the plague because no one knows anything about it! So in the mean time I suffer, suffer, suffer....etc...!!!
I hate it so damn much and there are days like today that I just can't function and move out of this misery... Damn it!!
I am not a negative person and I hate it when I'm in "this spot"... Hard to get out of it!
It's like a deep dark hole and I can't climb out of it because my hands and arms hurt so much...I just can't do it... emoticon
Gotta go now.... emoticon

I can understand what you are going through. I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist over 20 years ago for FM, and it's been an up and down lifestyle. I retired early due to both FM and osteo and am able to manage both conditions pretty good, through meds and exercise.. for the FM, Lyrica and Amtripyline are working quite well, but I still get those really exhausted kind of days.

Take care and good for you bringing this more in the open.

Sorry to hear that the fibro was acting up. I have fibromyalgia also and right now I feel wiped out. I am taking some meds that are helping for the pain. It helps but, then there are days like this. I understand and pray that you will feel well soon.

I understand - I have fibro also. It does hurt so much, and people without it cannot understand the impact on our bodies. I am on Gabapentin for other medical issues, which helps some days, but not all. There are some good suggestions already made - going gluten free has helped some for me - but even trying these will not make it go away. I still have very bad days. Hang in there - remember that you will have less pain at some point. I have to hold on to that thought on the bad days. Hugs to you - but very gentle ones emoticon

Aww...I'm so sorry. I know what it's like to not feel well and go through things in my body that are very uncomfortable. I really empathize and sympathize with you. I hope you feel better soon and know you're not alone. I don't have the illness you have but as I've seen in your comments, several ppl can relate to exactly what you deal with. I have an aunt who has it and I know she goes through a lot with it. emoticon

I have to be honest and say I do not know what fibromyalgia is but I am going to look it up in the health section. I do know what its like to have a doctor not familiar with your problem and I sympathize with you on that. I truly hope you get to feeling better. It is hard to overcome pain and to strive for health when you're hit with the flu or cold. For me it usually starts with a fun visit with a grandchild or grandchildren and then a phone call from their mom saying the kids are sick. What my daughter is really trying to say is, "your gonna get it too"

Get Well Soon my Spark Friend, you are special

My firomyalgia seem to any some better when I quit eating all dairy, sugar, and white flour. I stay very high with protein in my diet. I drink Whey isolate for protein. i can drink it because they process the milk a different way than they do the Reg, Whey protein powder. I also found mediation really helped. I had to mediate for 30 mins. everyday and had to do this for about two weeks before I felt a difference. You may all ready be doing these things. B vits. are good too.
