Savings Saturday

Saturday, May 22, 2010

Today after my run I decided to make a stop at a local Goodwill for some running gear. I was looking online at running skirts and though cute and fashionable the price was outrageous. I found 7 running skirts that I liked and with summer running they will come in handy.

I also wanted to get a VCR. I was searching for one online and saw some eBay listings for as low as $21 but my mom didn't want me to get a used VCR. I still couldn't see paying almost $70 for a new one and you know I'd have to buy a combo one because they don't sell just VCRs in the stores anymore. Anyways I found one that seemed to work and at a price of only, and even I was wowed, only $4 how could I pass it up. If it didn't work I would feel horrible. Oh and at that price even my mom was okay.

Well that VCR works just fine. It didn't come with a remote, but that's okay my TV has an universal remote and with some searching online for the codes I was able to program it, plus that's one less remote to loose. So WooHoo for a Savings Saturday.

Eating Healthy & Organic

Friday, May 21, 2010

Guess what?! I finally did it. I finally signed up with a local company that delivers fresh and organic foods. After watching Food Inc., it was evident that I needed to make a change in what goes in my mouth.

My first delivery is scheduled for June 1st and I'll be starting the month of right. WooHoo!

Do any of you use a similar type of company?

I could only imagine what you saw in Food, Inc. But, I have used a local company that delivers organic foods before. Just not since I moved from my previous place of residence. I liked their food and their service was excellent. Would have to track them down again soon.

that's awesome. I've been thinking about doing the same thing, but since I only cook for myself, it's not really worth it right now. Perhaps in the future. Still, I try to buy locally as much as I can. =)

A little inspiration is a lot of good

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Today the emoticon is shining so I added and extra emoticon to my calendar. I went pretty much my usual route added a small amount of distance. Took several emoticon breaks so I could level my emoticon rate and then coming to the home stretch I spot another emoticon and I could tell his run was challenging him. Haven't we been there?! We were on one of Cincinnati's bridges connecting OH and KY and he had gotten over the tough part and was head down in OH. He jogged just a little ways and I caught up with him to give him a emoticon emoticon and wouldn't you know I then was inspired myself that I could also do it and a burst of energy kept me going even through the up hills. By now my running friend has move on another direction and I came upon my own personal fan (well he at least deemed himself that). I thought him weird as he rode on his bike waving and hollering at me emoticon but now I'm glad for a little encouragement. Don't worry though there were plenty of other emoticon emoticon emoticon around.

Okay I've had fun with Emoticons so back to work. Thanks for reading!

emoticon Love your emoticons. And I always get a burst of energy and become rearing and ready to blast off somewhere every time I read about someone doing a marathon or just taking time out of their busy schedules to go for a job or power walk. So, keep on doing what you're doing. We're always inspired reading of your accomplishments.

Never Give Up

Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Last month I decided to somewhat switch cell phone carriers. (I say somewhat because I'm still with my carrier however for this plan they use a different dba name). Under the new plan I get more than enough minutes, text msg and data for only $30 a month, but there is a catch. The phone, which has some nice features, has a flaw. I like to personalize my ringtones but couldn't. I tried the web site, tried the phone but kept getting error messages and messages that it doesn't work. I even did an internet search and saw some suggestions but it wasn't clear how to make it work.

Having the phone now for a month I had about given up that I would be stuck with a silly bells and chirping sounds for a ringtone until I did something simple. I did a search on my phone for 'ringtones'. A web site that I remembered when searching for help popped up and I did the test and it worked! Eureka, there is hope yet!

I began to search for a song and found a favorite plus there was a check box that you could click for no cost tones and there was a version of it free. emoticon

I choose 'Download' and was then sent to another screen which finalized the request and would save it to my phone. I press the button to save the ringtone and there it started, but wait, it stopped. It gave me a failed message. emoticon I'd come so far and got my hope up only to have a message of failure pop up. emoticon. What do I do? emoticon

I was so close so I tried again. I did this several times and finally after about 5 or 6 tries the file fully downloaded and I had my song. I was so happy that I did another search and yep I got and error message but not giving up I kept trying and I ended up with two songs. emoticon

I was so happy that I almost blogged about this last night, but I'm glad I waited because it became a life lesson for me and for all who can use this on their healthier journey. The steps to reach our goals on paper are really about as simple as 1-2-3. But living those simple steps can become like a mountain when 'failed' and 'error' messages show up. But folks we can't give up. We have to keep trying until we conquer those messages and save ourselves from an unhealthy lifestyle.

emoticon We can Do It!

Thanks for reading.
