So yesterday I pissed and moaned about my disappointment and vowed to start over after the long weekend. Well, I'm getting an early start. I won't actually start until Tuesday, but this is the foundation I'll be starting with. Get the 2 x 4's ready to smack me into shape if I need it.

Have a Fantastic Weekend!


Short term Ė one month:
Lose a pound a week for a month
Stay smoke free for a month

Mid term 3 Ė 6 months:
Lose a pound a week for 3 - 4 months
Stay smoke free for 3 - 6 months
Pay off small credit card

Long term Ė 1 year:
Keep weight off/manageable
Go to Fiji for 5th Anniversary

Reasons for Goals:
Be a role model for Alicia
Be healthy
Feel sexy

140 Ė pedicure
135 Ė massage
130 Ė new clothes
Fiji with James!

Feel like Quitting

I feel like quitting. So, 2 weeks into my new goals and instead of being down 2 lbs, Iím up 2.5. So now instead of having to lose 3 more lbs to reach my July goal, Iíve got 7 to go. Itís extremely depressing. And itís not muscle either. Iíve gained a half inch in the bust, waist and hips for a total of 1.5 inches. Whatís wrong with my body? Doesnít it get that Iím eating right (except for some bad choices last weekend) and exercising twice every day this week? James says to not beat myself up over it because Iím going to start a new ďdietĒ next week and I just bought a food scale and portion containers so I can measure EXACTLY what Iím eating. I just feel like a complete failure. And Iím trying so hard. So after this holiday weekend itís back to stage one. Gonna write down my goals and reasons for them, and reward myself each week for making the goals. I have to start tracking EVERYTHING I eat and see where Iím going wrong.

Sorry for venting but I just had to get it out there or I wonít really do it. Iíll need your help and support to be accountable. Donít be afraid to kick my azzz!

    We are here for you to vent to, to share your success with as well as the rough patches along the way. I have been sweating up a storm in the garden and doing stuff that isn't getting me closer to my goal. So, like you, working on a new program - cuz I REFUSE to finish out year 49 in this shape!

c'mon girl - you can do this! If i were a betting person, my $$$ would be on YOU!

    I am glad you are sharing your feelings about quiting. I am quiting when I sit down with a half gallon of slow churned dreyers and eat till I cant anymore. Till that next moment when you get back up, shake off, and hit the prgram again. Go through your spark points and use as many tools as you can, that should help.

    You are right that you are not gaining muscle BUT your muscles are retaining water!
If you are exercising twice a day you need to make sure you fuel that exercise and get plenty of fluids also.

    hey, came across this blog entry...Don't let a little setback like 1.5 inches matter so much. Maybe try seeing it as a learning tool instead of beating your self up!
It does help to vent, but try to ...Keep it on the POSITIVE!

Disappointed and Discouraged, but Determined.

So, today was my weigh in and I thought I was doing pretty good this week. Got lots of exercise in and Iíve been making healthier eating choices but alas, Cybil is a raging bitch. Hate her. Iím up a pound. Instead of making my goal of a pound a week, now Iím up a pound. Hello!!! I when I said my goal was a pound a week, I meant DOWN a pound, not up! GEEZ Ė gotta spell things out donít we! Well, Iím taking this with as much good humor as I can. Guess Iíll just have to step it up and lose, yes LOSE Cybil, 2 lbs this week. As Iím reading this, my internet radio is playing Journey, Donít Stop Believing. Think itís trying to tell me something?

    oh Journey...they really have great timing don't they! :) But seriously, I can understand why you feel discouraged and disappointed but try not to focus so much on the scale. a pound or two either way can represent so many different fluctuations and doesn't necessarily represent your progress. Instead try to notice if you feel better - do you have more energy? do you feel more in shape and healthier? are your clothes fitting any differently? if you really need a quantitative measure, why not try measurements and/or clothes-fitting test instead? But the best way to measure is really just how much better you're feeling with the healthy changes your making! You're doing amazingly so just keep sticking with it!!

2 Small Victories

So it's been a slow week and I don't really have anything to report. Still getting over my cold but wanted to post my 2 small victories:

* yesterday was my first entire day without a single cigarette
* got on the treadmill this morning and increased my time by 5 minutes

Baby steps.

Why canít I get here more often?

I know I know, Iím slacking in the blogging department. Iíve just been busy at work and I was sick last weekend. I have been reading my Spark Book and trying to get some exercise in after being sick. Not easy but I did mange yesterday and today. Yesterday my daughter walked at her high school graduation. There was a time we were worried sheíd finish at all. But she pulled it out in the end and finished a month early and now has a job. Amazing!

So things are plugging along and Iím trying to get back in the swing of things. The quitting smoking is going ok with only sneaking in one or two a day instead of ĺ of a pack a day. Baby steps.

    Baby steps is the way to go! Glad to see you're still around. Congrats on your daughter's graduation and job! As for quitting smoking that's next on my agenda. I haven't had the balls to do it while I'm losing weight, so I applaud you.
