And the Loser is....

Well here we are, one month ago I made a "biggest loser get a free dinner" bet with my daughter.

We were both loser but we did not reach our benchmark 10lbs. Yet I am very pleased to report the scale registered 5lbs less, 2 inches off my chest, 1/2 inch off my waist and 1 inch off my hips.

I love being a loser!! It was fun to have a friendly battle against a common enemy, obesity. I will restart the month beginning today and continue to work down to my goal 10lbs at a time, a very managable number.

My skinny jeans are even loose this morning, YEA Me!!

    This is one area where it good to be a loser !!!!!

We walked this morning in the mall. For me, weekday mornings work best. However, in the fall when I get my cast off, perhaps we can make a walk on a weekend outdoors or something. I know you said you work, I was hoping some others Sparkers would join our walking chat so we could get some Spark team walks going. emoticon
Even so, when it is cooler, we will make a walk that works better with your schedule, if you don't have a regular walk going by then.... Take care. emoticon

Tomorrow is the Day: Weigh in for free dinner

Well, tomorrow is the big weigh in for me and my daughter. Who gets to treat the other for dinner?? We'll see!!

Nervous excited is what I am feeling. Since my daugther and I started that bet, I feel like I have been more focused than ever with my healthy lifestyle choices. I was always a very competitive person back in high school, guess I still am.

Whoever loses the most is the winner but we both win because we are having fun together tackleing those extra pounds as a team!!

Managing the "I don't wanna" zone

I liken not working out with walking through a mine field of other activities that will get in your head a tell you your a failure.

Sunday was not a busy day; I prayed and read God's Holy word (stayed home from worship with sinus headach), did a mild house tidy and took a nap. I love naps!

Anyway, the day was winding down and I had not yet done my workout. I was feeling much better than when I woke up this morning; felt strong and had everything ready to blast those fat cells right off my posterior assets!!

Then, I made the mistake of listening that negative self-talk girl in my head that tells me I don't have to workout if you "don't wanna".

That negative Nelly is such a naughty girl. She has nothing nice to say about anyone even herself. Negavtive Nelly nearly got me to get up and go to my local grocery store to get my fave comfort food: Oreo cookies and Soy milk. As a rule, I don't even walk down the cookie isle in the store. I am just that weak.

So you say, how did you nix Negative Nelly and her negative self talk? I stood up and said out loud: "I excercise because its good for me and makes me feel great." And as I was changing into my comfy workout attire, I caught a glimsp of my emerging Six-pack: I have 2 of that pack I can see and 4 in the cooler just bursting to get out! I did the Golds Gym Boot Camp video then on top of that some cardio and a little yoga/pilates in the mix.

Needless to say, Negative Nelly has been speechless ever since. And to keep the muzzle on her mouth, I wrote down my workout plans and now all hear is the sound of the pounds and inches dropping.

From now on each and everytime that Negative Nelly self-talk chick makes an appearance I will be using a 1,2 punch: tell myself something postive about my lifestyle change and look in my closet where I no longer have size 16 anything any longer. Praise God and Yea Me!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Knee Strengthening Excercises are a huge boost to my workout

With the help of a SparkPeople expert, Certified Personal Trainer Jen Muleller, her suggestion for strengthening the muscles around the knee are a stroke of genius!

Her article "11 Excercises to Help Decrease Knee Pain", has help me tremendously.

I sit at a desk where I work, I get up every hour and move around and walk outside for fresh air. Sometime though, my knees really make hard to choose to move. So I did a SparkPeople search for excercises to relieve knee pain and found Jen's article to be super easy. I can do most of the excercises at my desk.

Thanks for that Jen. I am so happy to be able to continue toward my weight loss goal and continue to enjoy my healthy lifestyle change.

I am at the half way point with my bet set last month July 19th that the one who could lose 10 lbs by the same date next month would treat the other to dinner.

I have so far lost 5 hard fought for but so glad there gone pounds!!!

SparkPeople gives me the edge: suggestions to plan your week of workout, meals, snacks, tips for eating healthy on the run have been a tremendous boost to me.

And the time spent with my daughter is priceless as are the times spent in prayer with GOD thanking Him for providing such great care through others who are experiencing the same struggles I am with weight and esteeming myself better than I do. Thank you so much Father.

Will keep you posted as to the winner, with us both being losers we are both winning the battle against the buldge.
