Great workout!

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Yesterday was my first full workout on my Total Gym machine, and what a workout it was!!! It was very time effective, gave great range of motion, and because you can move directly from one exercise to the next, it was even good cardio. Today I'm feeling muscles I had forgotten I had. HA A little stiff, but it feels good.
I think I'm hooked on this machine. I can hardly wait for tomorrow to do it again.
Anybody want to buy a used Bowflex? LOL

New strength workout

Sunday, February 14, 2010

I just finished planning a new strength workout using a Total Gym that I recently purchased (for $10.00 at a secondhand store!!!). I tried a few exercises last week, and found that I get an incredible work out. So I have planned complete sessions 3 days a week for upper body using it. To have time each morning, I do lower body work 3 days a week, on alternate days. Also, cardio every day. That way nothing is neglected.
I can hardly wait for Modnay morning so I can put my new plan into action!

Smaller clothes

Saturday, February 13, 2010

I had to break down and buy more new clothes yesterday. New shirts and pants for work and a new pair of jeans. When I started in May, my shirts were 20-211/2 and pants were 48 waste. The new ones are: Shirts,17 and the pants 38!!! Quite a change in 9 months.
I am getting more and more compliments and positive comments all the time too. I just thank them for noticing and wait for them to ask what I'm doing. Then they can't shut me up, when I start telling them about Sparkpeople!!!!!! I'm having a GREAT time.

Broke my first exercise machine

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Yesterday I wore out (broke) my first piece of exercise equipment. I was doing my normal pre-lunch ride on my stationary bike when one of the cranks broke right off at the axel. Talk about a shock!!!
Actually, it is one of those small peddle machines that can be used either on the floor with a chair for legs (like a recumbant bike) on on a table top for the arms and upper body.
What was I to do? Right after work, I went out and got a new one, took it home, put it together, and got in my ride before dinner. So I didn't miss any time of cardio at all. Felt good about that.
Even though I wasn't happy about having to get a new machine, I did get a strange feeling of satisfaction out of wearing it out by actually using it!

A powerful little prayer

Saturday, February 06, 2010

I have never been what I would call a "religious" person, although I do have my own strong beliefs. Saying that, I will add that I never thought I would be relating a life changing experience that God has given me. But it happened.

Not long ago, a friend gave me a very little book titled "The Prayer of Jabez". The entire book explains a one sentence prayer by Jabez, a less than notable character in the Bible. Simply put the prayer asks God to bless him, give him what he wants, expand his territory, and keep him from evil things. It all sounded very selfish to me at first until I put that together with other passages which say the God is just waiting for us to ask, and it will be given.

I now start each day with that prayer(not just reciting the words but really PRAYING it). In the last week my territory has started to enlarge. By that I mean my personal contacts with people who need help seem to just happen to come into my life. I can't believe that it is totally by accident that they are guided to me.

One quick example: A lady in the town I live is in need of a prosthetic eye. She has no insurance and can not afford to pay the entire costs involved. Some one she knows in a town on the other side of the state suggested she contact her local Lions Club (I am the president of the club here). She called and as we were talking, we realized that we actually know each other. Needless to say I will do all I can to help her. I took her the form our club needs to evaluate requests for assistance and went one step further (which she does not know about yet). Since I work at an eye clinic, I have some contacts that most others don't. I made some calls and now have other people in the eyecare profession looking for more sources of help for her.

I am excited beyond words how God works when we ask sincerely!!! Now I'm just waiting and looking for my next opportunity to expand my territory and let God work through me.

Oh My... I can't believe it, I've been praying Jabez's prayer (not every day to be true) for some weeks, and incredibly you've done the same.....I'm sure results will come.... emoticon
