Mentally Tired

Thursday, April 09, 2009

Most people whose job involves a lot of physical activity will scoff at the idea that those of us with sedentary jobs would be tired at the end of the day. Just as those who experience any type of stree should know, your mental can affect your physical. The point to this is..this week is the busiest of the month at work. At the end of the day I just don't want to think or move. This situation really blows any attempt at a healthy diet (due to eating out) and any thought of working out.

I used to be in a business where you were on your feet and moving all of the time, and then once or twice a year they would put us in training meetings and by the end of each day I would feel like I was about to fall over with exhaustion. Believe it or not, energy begets energy... we sit all day we get tired, we move all day we do pretty good... so sorry you had a stressful week. I hope Easter brings you some much needed rest and next week you can start fresh! emoticonSondra

That happens sometimes. Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and have at it again next week. I'm sure you'll get back on track soon!

I understand what you mean. I think that mental exertion and emotional stress can be much more exhausting the physical work.

I completely understand what you're talking about. All I do is sit at my job, and I spend a lot of my time bored and surfing the web, and it still wears me out. I've found a quick nap in the afternoon (20-30 mins) helps, but you can't always do that. Good luck! At least tomorrow's Friday!

Taste a Pear

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

I don't know how long it has been since I have eaten a real pear. This morning for breakfast I had a fresh pear. It was delicious! When fruit is that good, I usually don't want any junk food. Have you had a pear lately? emoticon

Hungry

Monday, April 06, 2009

I don't know what is going on with me but yesterday and today I'm just hungry! I eat normally and I am drinking water, but I have this feeling in my stomach where I want more. My stomach was even growling before lunch.

Also another thing to think about is make sure you are eating all your calories within your range. Eating more frequently 6 small portions. If you are still hungry Eat a salad with some FF dressing to help with hunger. Good luck. Hugs!

Are you working out more? Because i have found that after I have a great workout I am usually more hungry. Try to space out your meals and snacks so that you are eating every 2/1/2 to 3 hrs. And drink water in between that might help.

Maybe you need to split your three meals into six smaller meals? That might help some.

Are you exercising a lot more than normal? That is when i am really hungry.. or maybe it really isn't hunger, maybe it is boredom? Good luck getting it under control... are you sleeping okay? hormones ok? Things to think about.. take care... emoticonSondra

Special Occassions

Thursday, April 02, 2009

Yesterday was my son's birthday - he was 15. Although we did not go out to the restaurant we originally planned to, we did go out to eat. The choices probably weren't the best, but there were vegetables. But, of course we had birthday cake too! Then, today, I went to a lunch lecture at a local church that some of us in the office attend weekly and the food is always delicious. The menu wasn't that unhealthy, but it wasn't great either. I chose the salad with vinegrette instead of ranch and left a portion of the meat and potatoes - didn't eat it all, but ate the veggies. If only I could have resisted the pecan pie!

Hey, you tried.... you were conscious of what was going in your mouth and that is a big turning point for most of us... don't kick yourself for it, pat yourself on the back for being aware... emoticonSondra

Great job of trying to eat healthy. Everyone has to slip a bit for special occasions. We are human. Good job on keeping up the great work.

Did you have a good time? Thats all that matters today. You can jump right back on track. You already made some great choices with the veggies and passing on the ranch! Way to go! Keep up the great work! emoticon
