It's good to get dirty!

Thursday, May 15, 2008

I finally got our veggie garden planted last week and can hardly wait for all the lovely fresh veggies! I grow Organic if at all possible. I hate using any chemicals and only do as a last resort. I had to use a bit of sevin dust on my beans last year. I've still got a row about 4-5 ft long with room to plant and am hoping to find some Japanese Eggplant or something that doesn't require a lot of room to grow. So far we have Potatoes, Big Boy and Roma tomato, Carnival Mix Bell Peppers, Jalepenos, Green Beans, Sweet Corn and Cantelope. I have radish and green onion seeds and they can go in last after the corn and beans sprout. I make the most out of ever inch of my garden space. I was stunned and pleased at how many calories I burned during the 2 hrs I spent gardening. emoticon

Update: I love gardening because it's so rewarding. Not only do I get to enjoy the fresh produce and flowers but I can also say "I did this".

Arthritis sucks!

Between the problems that I've been having with my hands and not being able to have my boob fixed immediately I've been a bit discouraged about everything and (gasp) even feeling a bit sorry for myself... I'm hoping the meds will help but I am doubtful. I've had a problem for several months now with a capsule constriction on my R breast. I had bi-lateral breast reconstruction with sub-muscular implants years ago and when I went for the 5 year check-up last year (a little late) there was a problem so I had to have the original reconstruction removed and it was replaced on top on the muscle this time. That was all well and fine but I developed a constriction (too tight scar tissue) on the R breast that I think was caused from lifting heavy items before I had healed completely. So... here we go again... I just want to get past it but there always seems to be something that drags it on in my life.

Since the scar tissue is too tight it makes that boob hard. It's like having a softball in there. I've had to adjust how I sleep and I'm very conscious if I hug someone. If I lift anything too heavy with that arm or too many reps it feels like it gets even tighter for a while. Most of the time it's OK.

I'm imagining boob constriction and not liking the sound of it at all. Does it stop you from moving the ways you want? A real bummer...

Thanks Kim! I'm feeling a lot better already. I was having a lot of pain in my hands the other day and was just frustrated and needed to vent. Thanks for your support. emoticon

My First Blog

Monday, March 03, 2008

Well I guess I'm commiting to doing this after a couple weeks of playing around.
A friend from another site turned me on to SparkPeople and I'm happy to be here! (thanks Kim!)
I'm learning my way around slowly. I haven't spent too much time here yet as I've been busy trying to remodel our bathrooms and kitchen.
I need to figure out how to get a goodie for a friend!

You can go to your friends site and beside the goodie box it's say give so and so a goodies you click on that and it opens a box that displays all the goodies. You pay with the goodies with your spark points. I love giving gifts.

Love the kitty blog picture! It did take me a few days of playing around to get the hang of it, but now it is much easier. Especailly the food logging, which was painfully slow to begin. I'm sure you must be able to get fitness points for remodeling somehow. It must count..... great to see you here!
