Obstacles

Wednesday, October 10, 2007

I don't know why I'm having so much trouble getting kick started on eating right and getting some exercise. I've done it before with success and this time I have support. My only obstacle is myself, I have time, my hubby will support me, life is not stressful. Once I set my mind to something there isn't much that can stop me, I just can't get my mind set in the right place.

I haven't had any desire for years to get started. Then the idea started just growing on me and I finally started one day. It was that simple. Maybe some short term goals would help? I am looking at this differently too for the fist time ever - I want this to be a lifestyle change for me...not just another diet!! Maybe that is what got me started!! You can so do this Jeannie!

Try to just start with one small step, like an apple today, or the water. Just keep coming back, the support pays off.

It is always easier to remain status quo instead of taking a leap of faith and aiming for a goal. You have 2 choices. Do you want things to remain status quo, or do you want to be healthier/fitter? Really, you have already made this choice since you have already joined sp :-) You can start slowly--you don't have to be wonder woman or anything. Just start with really small goals like walking for 10 minutes a day, or not drinking soday, etc.

Usually when I have trouble starting, it's because I have this perceived benefit to staying just as I am, something I know I'll have to "give up" in order to get back on the right track.

Usually? It's bowls of ice cream: 'If I start eating right and exercising then I have to stop eating all of my ice cream and it's a huge comfort and I don't want to do it WAH!'

Once I've pinned the thing down, I can bargain with myself and either use it as a reward or limit the thing: ice cream no more than once a week and then use the smallest bowl in the cabinet.

I know that you can do it!
