Beautiful fall day

Saturday, November 03, 2012

We walked to enjoy this glorious day. I didn't have energy to go as far as I would have liked, but it felt wonderful to be in the fresh air and sunshine. Tomorrow we will go farther. I'm sure of it! Awesome!

Resting from a couple procedures

Friday, November 02, 2012

Had upper and lower endoscopies this morning. Three polyps removed...hooray for prevention. Also still have some gastritis and also had to have esophagus stretched again. It feels good to swallow, but no solid food until tomorrow. After only clear liquids yesterday, i will be so ready for some morning steel cut oats and berries. I can almost tast it now......yum!

I hope you are feeling tip top soon.

My husband had a polyp removed and it saved his life. He is going great now.

He was blessed to not have further treatment, after they took out a small section. emoticon

I agree! Bad as the "prevention" is, the diseases they prevent are SO much worse. (i have also had both procedures.)

Mother Nature speaks up!

Monday, October 29, 2012

Mother nature is on a rampage on the east coast of the United States as Sandy rears her angry head. I pray for all in her path. May all find their way to safety and recover well. My heart breaks for everyone in harm's way! emoticon

I DO HAVE TWO FRIENDS IN THE PATH AND I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM THEM TODAY. THEY WERE ABOUT TO LOSE POWER WHEN I LAST HEARD FROM THEM YESTERDAY. THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE SAFE BEING 20 MILES INLAND. I GUESS THEY WAS WRONG. SO THEY DID NOT EVACUATE BUT THEIR TOWN WAS NOT TOLD TO EITHER. I DON'T THINK EVEN THE WEATHER SERVICE KNOWS WHAT WILL HAPPEN FOR SURE. THEY CAN PREDICT, BUT MOTHER NATURE HAS A MIND OF HER OWN.

Back on track

Sunday, October 28, 2012

After time caring for 98 year old very negative, always and forever, mom, it was great to be home again. Helped with birthday/ costume party for grandson and his brother and sister on Friday. Twenty-five kids, many totally wild and refused to do what they were asked to do...made for an exhausting afternoon. I had that many when my kids were young, but I actually knew most of the kids and their parents. My dodd knew few of them...those she did know we're terrific and even the girls she did not know we're fine. But, those boys! My ears continued to ring for more than 24 hours after.
So, now that those two items are behind me I am ready to get back on track. I gained two pounds while caring for Mom so getting rid of those is my first priority. To that end I took a nice walk with dh yesterday and again this morning. Now I am off to the gym. It feels good to be back on track. emoticon

What a time you had and know you are glad to be back home to peace, quiet and contentment
Know caring for your mother could not be easy task but you will never regret the time spent when she is gone find the good and let go of the not so good my mother lived to 95+ and I was not her favorite daughter but was the one she called when she wanted or needed something at time I resented it but made peace with that feeling before she went to her heavenly reward it is a thankless task
The children's party seemed out of hand glad you were able to help kids today have little respect for others and it begins and ends with their parents
Take care of yourself now one day at a time

Women are tougher to take care of than men are! I swear to try not to be mean or nasty if I end up being taken care of!!! Now you have time for you!

My experience with elder care is that the women are more cranky and less appreciative than the gentlemen. I think men are more used to being taken care of.
25 kids is way too many for a fun party!!!
5-10 is plenty!
Take care of yourself, Barbara.

Tough times

Monday, October 01, 2012

Just discovered that my Mom's care giver has stollen a lot of money while overdrawing her checking account. An investigation has begun, but mom wants to keep her because she needs the job. Such a mess. I think she understands why we have to make some changes, but at age 98 change is even harder than a few years ago. Plus, she's almost completely blind now and hearing about gone. It breaks my heart. I wish I lived closer. I must go to her and do some interviewing, training and take care of what I can. Meanwhile, I spent 8 hours at the hospital today while a very dear friend had very extensive cancer surgery. When the surgeon spoke with her daughter and I it was not good news. She may have another 4-5 years. He removed many large rumors, but there are thousands of small ones with great blood supply direct from aorta. Heartbreaking. It's like the Lord wants me to have plenty to share with Him outside of my own little world. And these two things are just additions to an already almost overwhelming amount of concerns. What will tomorrow bring?

It seems at times we are tried to the very end of the amount we can bear . We are with you in spiri emoticon t and hope that all ends well for all those in need .
the caregiver should be ashamed of the deeds that where done . I can see how your mom would not want to change things . I am elderly and do not like to change anything either . Hope that it all works out . Your friend can only be made comfortable and hope that they do not suffer long . praying for all .
