Worn out --- not again!

I am so exhausted. Everyone in my household has been sick. That's part of the 'joy' of having grandkids living here and returning to school. They left for their house this morning for a weekend with daddy who isn't able to move here until March due to his practice contract (neurologist). Anyway, we have four days and nights without the little ones so I'm hoping I can get some things done that need doing. But, I also hope we can get healthy here as there is a move in our future in about 4 weeks. I must spend time each day sorting and discarding. I'm glad there is so much to co that is so physical. I know this is good for me on so many levels. But, still it is hard, very hard. I look forward to the weekend when my husband will be here to help. I think we can accomplish a lot if we just determine to do so. Yes, I'm worn out...again! But, I do see the light at the end of the tunnel and am thankful for every moment of extra movement this allows me to do. Have a great day everyone!

    How familiar is that refrain!? Feel a bit better, work really hard, get really exhausted, rest a bit, feel a bit better, work a bit harder get even more exhausted.

That's not to say that there's not a vast amount of stuff to do.

Maintaining balance when the ground keeps changing beneath us is no easy feat.

Figuring out the difference between being tired and being EXHAUSTED and what it takes to get back from each of those states, is a very difficult proposition. emoticon

I second the motion for rest! emoticon

One step forward...

I got to spend a couple of hours tending two of my grandchildren emoticon this morning while my daughter took the oldest one off to the first day of school emoticon and then went for her regular run. emoticon She is always on the move. I remember a time when I could be much more like her. Now, with the multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia dictating some of my life, emoticon I am most thankful that I can still play with the little ones. Since they moved in about two weeks ago it does seem like I have a little more ability to move more. emoticon Add to that the push to start discarding lots and packing up some things for our upcoming move emoticon and I see myself on a pretty healthy track. One change that has not been positive is the acute and complete fatigue that overwhelms me several times each day now. emoticon I think it is the ms telling me to slow a bit. I just remembered the medication I used to take to be able to drive to and from work years ago and found I still had some. So, took some provigil this morning and am eager to see if that will thwart the fatigue episodes. I hate to have to take time out from an other wise fun and productive day. emoticon I'd much rather keep putting one foot in front of another emoticonand take that one step forward each day emoticon....maybe more that one step forward today! emoticon emoticon emoticon Hooray.     Hi there! Hope your energy level goes up and your pain level goes down! Keep up that good attitude!

I was in Park City all weekend celebrating the finalization of our grandson's adoption. I'm headed back down there tomorrow so I can babysit him on Wednesday and Thursday. His big sisters start back to school on Thursday. How fun to get to be a part of all that ... hope my energy holds out!

Birthday Goals

I don't remember when I last set goals to accomplish by my birthday so thought to myself early this morning...there's no time like today! So here's my hope for that magic date - 10/5:
1. Walk a 5K
2. Find a condo to downsize into
3. Lose 5 more pounds
4. Finish clearing out debris from all my closets and cupboards: Debris = clothes I don't/can't wear, expired foods, duplicate appliances and tools and such, useless papers, books I won't use again, etc. etc. etc.
5. Finish one of my crochet projects or my granddaughter's Christmas stocking
6. Start packing to move

If I can hit these marks I will feel pretty successful! emoticon

    Wonderful goals....sounds like you are simplifying your life and what greater goals can there be than that?? Walking that 5K race is a great goal also...I am so proud of your accomplishments. When is your birthday??? How long have you given yourself to accomplish all these goals or do you have a time limit set??? Just wondering!!! So awesome!!

Grandkids Diet Plan

So, here I am about to collapse. emoticon Step wise I've done quite a few, but have a few more to do before the day is out. I tended the three little ones - 7 yrs, 5 yrs, and 8 mos. for over three hours. My ears are ringing and my knees are weak. But the exercise is certainly piling up. There are the deep knee bends up and down with the baby. emoticon There are the various press positions emoticon...also with the baby. There's the vacuuming moves to try and keep small stuff up...also for the baby. Then there's the constant running emoticonback and forth for snacks for the big ones, the wrestling...also with the big ones and the various other games they and I managed to think up. One of the constant games is picking up the toys. I'm the best at that one. Then there's the getting as much as possible out...the kids are the best at that. Next time I hope to play coloring and reading. I wonder if they will go for that??? Meanwhile, I'm sure being challenged in every way with this new Grandkids Diet Plan. emoticon Cheers and hugs! emoticon

    I understand what you are talking about and it does wear you out, but it is so much fun to be with your grandchildren. My daughter is leaving her 3 littl boys with us for the weekend, so she and her husband can have a little beach vacation. The oldest is 6 and the twins are 3, very active little boys! Nana will have lots of activities ready to do and I am putting up our Walmart swimming pool and I bought a lot of stuff on sale to play with in the pool. I may get in with them! I am sure I will be totally worn out and hurting, but it is worth it to be with them and have fun! You might want to try playing with Play Doh when the baby naps, the older kids would love it! We make all kinds of things, Pizza, Pies, snowmen, birds nest, snake etc. It is a lot of fun! Enjoy, but try to take good care of yourself too. Hugs, Nancy

Never a dull moment

Now-a-days there's never a dull moment at my house. With our daughter and her three little ones always on the move I use all I have to keep going. Though fatigue can become overwhelming and I must retreat to rest a bit, for the most part I'm keeping up pretty well. We've also been looking for a condo to downsize to and let the kids have the house for a few years. We've found what I think could be just perfect for us. It's a little smaller than I'd hoped, but the location is great for my DH's commute and for me to really enjoy some big city living. We made an offer, but we must wait and see what happens. It is such an exciting time. My diet is suffering a little these days --- not the calories, but the content. Fortunately one of my grandsons loves smoothies and both the boys love to help make them almost every morning. What a delightful way to start the day. After that, things get pretty crazy. Like I said, Never a dull moment here. I'm loving ever bit of insanity, every hug and kiss, every "I love you". How could I ever ask for more?! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    Got to love those nutrition packed smoothies. I used to make them for breakfast and the kids would say to their friends I am feeding them ice cream for breakfast.

    I can totally relate to you about the fatigue. I am really struggling with it also. I guess it has alot to do with the fibro-I don;t really want to diagnose myself with chronic fatigue syndrome but I sure do have a lot of fatigue that I have to deal with-so much so that it interrupts my life. Even getting extra sleep doesn't work-it seems the more I sleep the more I want to sleep. Not sure what the answer it. We have to figure this out. Enjoy the little ones while you can and conserve your energy for your precious ones.
