That has been my motto for the last couple years. When I started this weight loss journey I had very little in the way of a support system. I had to come to the realization that if it was going to happen it was going to be my responsibility. I had to take charge!
Well this story has a happy ending! This past week I hit the 50 pound weight loss mark! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am about that. I will not say it was easy. In fact I had to make the stark realization that the older you get the harder it is! It was actually like chipping cement! It took 10 months to make it to 33 pounds. It would be .8 pounds¡K. .6 pounds etc. my biggest weekly weight loss was 1.3 pounds! It was frustrating when someone would come in with a 5 pound weight loss. I had to choose to not become discouraged. I had to tell myself that at least I was still losing. I had set my lifetime goal at 33 pounds. When I hit that I took a while to gather my wits about me and just maintain. After a year of maintenance mode I was ready to hit it again. When I started back into it this time however, I had a new super duper secret weapon in my arsenal. I had discovered the joy of walking 10,000 steps. (YES there IS a team for that!) º With this new discovery I have had to change my thinking about being older making it harder to lose weight. My NEW realization leans more towards ¡§weight loss WITHOUT EXERCISE is like chipping cement!!! Please let me add the disclaimer that this was NOT a scientific study and no lab rats were harmed. It¡¦s just pure and simple weight loss without exercise is a very hard row to hoe! I LOVE my new found secret weapon because it has not only helped speed up my weight loss but I have found it to help my mental attitude and clear the cobwebs and refresh my spirit and soul! I find myself parking in the farthest parking spot or walking back to the copier in the back of the office just knowing that little pedometer is steadily clicking away! Once again I confess I am not a professional. All I can do is tell you what has worked for me. I LOVE my new found love affair with walking and NOW I¡¦m just seeing weight loss as the cherry on top!
