My Halloween Challenge

I am beginning a new exercise challenge to last until Halloween. I have joined with friends from my WW message board. Even though I am no longer a WW member I have kept in touch with this board.

We feel Halloween is the beginning of the "heavy" time of the year. You know, the trifecta Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. This should help us stay ahead of the calories.

My personal challenge is to do 1 1/2 hours of exercise a day for 5 days a week, totaling 450 minutes. Also averaging 6,000 steps a day for 7 days. My exercise will include walking, aerobic dvds, strength training with hand weights, yoga and just marching in place if I need to get my steps in.

I am hoping for a Happy Halloween!

No Snacks!

Today I will begin a period of no snacks, only 3 squares a day. I used to subscribe to the idea that 5 or 6 small meals was best but for me it led to grazing all day. This new plan may last a week or two until I feel in better control. I hope it lasts today. I plan to stay busy. Wish me strength.

    Yes, you can do it.

What works for me is eating like 2 maybe 3 meals a day, with good snacks in between. I can finally tell when I am hungry so I don't put it off; and if I am craving something sweet, I eat a piece of fruit.

Back in the 160s

Lost 1.1# this week and finally I am back in the 160s where I was several months ago. I am pleased even if the weight is 169.8 it's headed in the right direction.

What a struggle

I am struggling to lose the 9 lb I gained over the last several months. I know, I know that's not a lot but I lose very slowly. For several weeks now I have stayed within my calorie allowance and exercised regularly with walking, aerobic walking, ankle weight exercises and upper body strength workout. Last week I lost 2.9 lb (which is HUGE for me) and this week I gained .4. I was expecting a little more loss but was disappointed.

    It's great to catch yourself before the gain becomes too large.
I have found I can make up for a two-week indulgence with a 3-fast week!

Today's a blessing

Yesterday I was in a funk; most likely because I'd eaten a lot of sugar the evening before. My body was not happy with me.

Today is a blessing. The air is fairly cool; at least not hot yet. Sunny with a soft breeze and quiet except for the birds singing. I enjoyed my walk outdoors again.
