MY CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE

I am challenging myself to lose weight by New Year's day. Why not lose weight? Even if I only lose a half a pound, at least I will not have gained.

I did well with the Thanksgiving food and want to continue. Who's with me on this?

Return from Traveling

A quick 9 day trip from home in Florida to Illinois and back left me 2.4 lbs heavier. Some of it of course is from not tracking and poor choices, but also some is water weight from driving/sitting for hours. So today I am wearing my pedometer and will do an aerobic dvd before breakfast. Weight be gone!

Have I Sweat Enough!

It may be official fall, but it's hot here in south central Florida. Today so far I have finished an aerobic DVD, planted, transplanted and pruned landscaping. I think I've sweat enough for one day. Well maybe more this evening. emoticon

Hungry Day

I have been hungry since waking today. It's not emotional or boredom. I did not eat all the food in my tracker yesterday as I was not hungry and it seemed silly to eat it. Now I am paying the price. I shall exercise this afternoon, that usually banished hunger...at least for a little while.

    If you are doing serious walking, then you really should have some nutrient dense food in your tummy. I always make sure that I have eaten before I walk, especially breakfast.

I tried walking before breakfast, and that was a no go.

My husband who ran marathons always ate a good breakfast before doing his Saturday morning runs. That's a word to the wise.

So I eat 3 meals a day, and a good 150 to 200 calorie snack in between meals. I basically try to keep my calories for meals equal, sometimes with the exception of breakfast, which may be more, or maybe lunch may have more calories.

But if I eat about 4 meals & snacks all together that are about 350 calories, then it's about 1400 calories. This is 150 less from the high end of the range of calories which I am allotted, and believe me, I do eat those calories, especially if I am walking for at least an hour a day at a brisk pace. Then sometimes I will do another half hour or another hour.

I just don't over eat but eat consistently throughout the day which works very well for me and keeps my metabolism burning.

My Halloween Challenge

I am beginning a new exercise challenge to last until Halloween. I have joined with friends from my WW message board. Even though I am no longer a WW member I have kept in touch with this board.

We feel Halloween is the beginning of the "heavy" time of the year. You know, the trifecta Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. This should help us stay ahead of the calories.

My personal challenge is to do 1 1/2 hours of exercise a day for 5 days a week, totaling 450 minutes. Also averaging 6,000 steps a day for 7 days. My exercise will include walking, aerobic dvds, strength training with hand weights, yoga and just marching in place if I need to get my steps in.

I am hoping for a Happy Halloween!
