Going to miss my goal deadline.

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

I had company staying at my house for 2 weeks and had to have deserts and eat whatever they ate. One of my guests lost her husband and has lost a lot of weight so I cooked a lot of good food. I don't think she was really eating till she came here to stay. I didn't see those weeks as a time to cut back on calories.

Anyway, I didn't gain any, but I didn't lose any either. It took me another week to get back on track so that's three weeks down the tubes.

I'm disappointed and without getting into details, I'm pretty unhappy right now.

Whatever. Making pinto beans and cornbread for dinner I guess. Going to look around for a corn bread recipe and figure out how many crumbs I get to eat.

Just to add that I'm down 42 pounds, and 8 pounds from my first goal weight which I had my heart set on reaching Dec 1st.

I'm sorry you've had a bad couple of weeks, but seriously - look how much you've accomplished! You've lost 42 pounds AND you gave much needed love and care to someone that really needed to be nurtured. You are awesome! You may miss your December 1st goal by a few pounds but goals are moveable and there's no shame in that. Goals are there to inspire us, not to beat us up when we miss one. Be proud of yourself.

Down 38 Pounds

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

I'm down 10 pounds since my last picture. The dress barely fit last time, but now it fits perfectly. (My before pics are in my gallery here.)

I haven't lost as much weight as I wanted to over the last month. I'm still tracking my food and eating at the low end of what I should. I did start walking this month. I walk 1.7 miles 3 days a week. I've been walking at a 3mph pace according to my ipod app. I'm walking for 33 minutes and it's suppose to burn 195 calories according to my height and weight.

I feel so much lighter on my feet and I'm down to wearing all the clothes I never thought I'd fit into again.

I started at 250 and my first goal is 199 by mid December. I should be able to make it by then. By January I'll have to go buy some clothes as I'll have nothing to fit in. I've been donating everything I shrink out of. I will not be going back to where I was before.

We're looking to go out West in June and I want to bike across the Golden Gate Bridge. I could physically do it now, but I couldn't have done it before I lost the weight. I'm looking forward to it as a reward so to speak. No more food rewards...

4 Bags of clothes gone!

Wednesday, October 02, 2013

I've now gone from a size 24 to a size 20. I've donated 4 bags of clothes I've shrunk out of. Totally amazing. I will never allow myself to gain this much weight again. I'll continue to get rid of everything as it becomes too big for me until I get to my goal weight.

I'll be down to a size 18 in about 4-6 weeks. My goal is a size 14.

I'm so thrilled. Been at this for about 19 weeks.

Right now I'm sitting here in a pair of yoga pants I had many many years ago. They aren't even tight. :) I'll probably get some new pictures next week.

Down 35 pounds...

Friday, September 27, 2013

I'm down 35 pounds now. I just track everything I eat and stay within my calorie range of 1,200-1,500. I tend to average 1,300 calories a day.

Up to this point I haven't exercised at all. When you're classified as morbidly obese, it's a killer on the joints to be bouncing around on them. I could feel my joints protesting just doing normal every day activities. I was also unstable on my feet, like I didn't have good balance. I have fallen 3 times over the last 3 years and the last time my arm broke and I had plates but in to get it put back together. After that I was afraid to even walk to the mailbox.

WELL, I started walking this week. I feel a ton lighter on my feet and my balance is back! I'm so thrilled. I walked 4 days and will walk here in an hour. I walked 1.6 miles in 34 minutes which works out to be 3mph burning around 210 calories. I put on some good strong music and away I went. I calculated the distance and calories burned through an app on my ipod and through an on-line route mapping map designed for runners. Both were pretty close in agreement so I just averaged them together.

I didn't eat my calories back. I've worked so hard at consistently staying around 1,200 - 1,500 calories and just couldn't allow myself an additional 200 calories. I thought I'd buy some large bananas and eat one after I walk each time. That would give me like 100 calories I think. I have to keep a reign on my eating as I never want it to get out of control again. I'm like a child. If you give them an inch, they'll want to go a mile.

I had actually planned on doing water aerobics this fall, but it's out of the way and gas isn't cheap. I'll walk until it gets cold and plan on water aerobics from Jan-March or so.

What else? Oh! I know. I only have 8 pound until I'm at the lowest point that I've been in 8 years. (I have to look back, but it's been 7-8...) I'm excited about that. Only 15 more pounds until my first goal. I started as being morbidly obese, now I'm obese and in 15 pounds I'll be classified as overweight. The next goal will be to be in my ideal weight range which will be 30-40 pounds. By the time I'm done I'll have lost 80-90 pounds. I know I can do this. I honestly feel so much lighter on my feet and I now sit on the ground at times because I know I can get up. :)

And for the record, I still hate exercising. I can tolerate the walking now because I walk with my music blasting in my ears. I walk as fast as I can to get finished 2 laps. My incentive is to get it over with.

Choose healthier foods, cut down on portion sizes and eat plenty of veggies. That's what I try to do consistently. Fruit is a good snack for me, and also I like the cheese sticks that are 50 calories each. I'll even eat potato chips every once in awhile, but I weight out an ounce and put them in a bowl. Now I'll eat about 130 calories in chips, when I "use to" eat 600 calories in chips. I also don't eat them as frequently. Just once a month or so. Truthfully, chips aren't healthy and should be avoided.

Every time I find clothes that I'm shrinking out of, I put them in a bag to be donated. I've donated 1 large bag! I'm not keeping any of my big clothes.

I attribute my weight loss to the SparkPeople food tracker. It doesn't lie. If I eat too much it shows me.

Down 31 pounds

Friday, September 13, 2013

Weighed in this morning and I'm down 31 pounds. So excited. My shorts and capris are all too big now. Next spring I'll get to buy new ones. I'm also feeling much lighter if that is possible. LOL I can get up and down off the ground easier and I have a lot more energy. When I'm down 40 pounds next month I'll post new pictures.
