Day 16

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

I think I needed a time out.

I had no real strategy for day 16. I know I ate less than most days and I was exhausted and lethargic.

The night before, I could hear high winds all thru the night and that left me very tired. Not eating
"enough" just compounded the problem.

For dinner I had a grilled cheese sandwich and warmed up leftover oatmeal. Too tired to make a traditional meal.

... but I slept very well at my regular bedtime!

You might need to rest at least one day if not two. Like the others said listen to your body.

Day 15

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Day fifteen's strategy was all about portion control.
My lunch was leftover pasta & sauce. I ate about half of what I used to do.

I knew we were invited next door for dinner. The hosts served the full turkey with all the trimmings because they had been out of town for our Thanksgiving. When I brought my plate to the table, others said, "Oh, take more potatoes." and "Surely you want more gravy than that!".
I didn't go back for any "seconds", so I made a bit of progress, I think.

Yes, I can control myself when I am out for dinner!

Day 14

Monday, October 15, 2012

My strategy was very low key today. I had a lot of housework to do, so I used that as my cardio exercise.

I have decided to stop buying granola bars for my work lunches. They are very convenient, but I can never eat just a single one if there are two to the wrapper.

I will opt for a carrot or something else that takes more effort to snack.

I stopped eating granola bars because of all the sweetness in them. Now, apple slices with a bit of peanut butter, ties me over. -- Lou

Day 13

Saturday, October 13, 2012

The weather looked cool and grey to most people but to me, Saturday was a lovely, peaceful experience.
We drove to the library for a wee book I have been waiting for. (Not many steps done there.) To my surprise, I was taken to The Gorge which is a local waterway in our capital city. The greyish backdrop was perfect to show off the contrasting yellow, red, and copper coloured leaves!
We walked in a damp mist, so it felt like being in an outdoor spa treatment!

I went for a walk in my neighbourhood in the afternoon before the sun went down. I travel that distance once a week but I never used the pedometer before. I got a reading of 3928 steps or 1.61 miles.

After dinner, (on the small plate again!), I put on a coin belt for belly dancing and moved to seven songs. That totalled 30 minutes of free-form eastern dance. I will log that activity and see how many calories that was worth. What a fun exercise for a rain-soaked night!

I will move to the tunes again and get my middle section tightened up 'like days of old'!

I could feel your enjoyment as I read your blog! What a treat! I have a couple of belly dance workout Dvds and put them on top of the player for my next workout! I don'thave a coin belt though! What fun that would be!

Keep up your good work! And keep it fun! emoticon

Day 12

Friday, October 12, 2012

I am able to use my TV cable stations as a music only channel. This morning I used that to my advantage.
Station #401 is Maximum Party and I was dancing around to Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more retro tunes. I chose my 3 lb dumbbells and boogied down for 5 or 6 songs.

I can feel it in the shoulders and biceps. I am looking forward to more dumbbell dance later in the day.

I can feel the cardio increase with just that little start. Give it a try!

Steps at day's end: 4,053 steps
Distance: 1.66 miles
Calorie burn: 114.9
