Down to $150/workout

Today I started on my next workout streak. $1 in the jar. $4 to go. It was my second workout of my $300 membership; so it has brought down the average cost of the workout to $150!.

9 March: $2 towards weekly goal of $5. That also brings the average daily cost of my gym membership to $100.

10 March: $3 towards weekly goal of $5. That also brings the average daily cost of my gym membership to $75.

11 March: $4 towards weekly goal of $5...thanks to an extra long boxing session. But, it was outside of the gym.

12 March: off; time to color the naps.

13 March: Last of the week's workout is scheduled today to bring in my $5 and I'll double it. This means I'll have 5 workouts at the gym and my average cost will be $60.

Done. That is 225 for this week!

I finally got back to the gym. I bought a two year memberships for $300 (thanks Costco) But, as I've only done one workout, that workout cost me $300. But, I'm back to rewarding myself with $1 per workout. Soon, I'll have a pot full of cash to spend on something great! I am starting to enjoy tracking my achievements. I get the 'streak' mentality.

Working out with a gym membership has not worked. My membership lapsed and my schedule became more intense. My chores are piling up and I haven't worked out. Today, I had a doctor's visit. Since I had gained five pounds from the last visit a year ago, she advised me to lose weight. Ay Ay, I thought no one had noticed the extra pounds. Well, I know what I have and haven't done. I did lose momentum at the end of last year. I haven't recovered and I need to turn it up again. I will reinstate my membership within the week. That is my new goal....


Two Week Streak

Rewards and streaks have kept me motivated for the last two weeks. I've make $20 in rewards! But, next week I enter a challenging time. I will be taking some classes. One class is a PE class that will only require a couple of hours class time. But, the other class, a music class will require me find time to practice. This combination of commitments will require real planning. I need to schedule how I use my time very carefully. On top of that I need to be even more careful about my food choices as I will have to cut down my workouts from five times a week to four times. I'm already feeling heart palpitations of stress. emoticon

p.s...once we get going the PE classes will count as a workout. Yay.

Two weeks ago I had a stellar week. Last week, I had its counterpart. But, on Friday I found myself at a mall and remembered I had yet to reward myself for the good week. I searched and searched and finally found a silver ring on sale and decided it was a worthy treat. It could not have been a better reward.

The ring has been on my finger since I bought it. I even slept with it. I am usually the type to take all of my jewelery off before bed. This ring is special for me. This ring is good for me because it reminds me of two things: I can and have accomplished goals; and each goal is made up of individual parts. The ring looks like a chain. If any of the links breaks, then the chain would fall apart. This is analogous to the idea that each goal is made up of small steps that lead to a desired destination. Failing at one step, will make it very difficult to get to the finish line.

With new found resolve and a visual reminder on my finger, I am once again seeking another good week. I've decided to be more systematic about my rewards, so I can see them.

For the next week, my goal is to work out at least five days of the week for 45 minutes each session. I will give my self a mini-reward for each successful workout day and then if the week goes well, I will double the reward.

Now that I know a 'visual' helps me, I have decide to put $1 in a glass vase on my vanity for each good workout day. Then, at the end of the week, if I make the weekly goal, I will double what ever I made during the week--that is I will add another $5 to the amount or more if I had a workout more than five times in the week. Then, at the end of the month, I will spend it!

I already have $1 in the vase for Saturday's workout. I plan to add a dollar the following days:
Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.

    I was just checking out your site. I love this idea. i recently made a deal with my MD to give him $1 every day that I ate sugar. Last month he got $3 from me. This month $6 already. I need to stop already. I think that I will put jars next to my bed. I also reward myself with an article of clothing for every pound lost. The ring idea sounds like a good one. I am thinking that I will buy my self a ring when I have lost 25 pounds. I have to buy gold because I can't wear anything else. maybe I will just have an old one inscribed. hmmm. I like it!
