Daily Motivation Day 17

Friday, February 08, 2013

Yes, I missed a day but that's okay. I had stuff on the go yesterday and I'm here today. Being online doesn't necessarily mean I wasn't able to maintain my goals!

Imagine calling a friend to offer encouragement during her weight-loss journey. This is G - she's lost so much weight, she's giving away clothes. I'm so proud of her. She faithfully gave up bread, eats breakfast and doesn't eat as much take out.

I eat healthy but have an issue with portion control. I simply eat to much for my level of activity. That's what I don't know how to over come.

There is the portion control plate which can be misleading. A nutritionest told me to use my palm to determine the main course (protien.) My palm is two times my wife's palm. I was told that satiation would be based on my palm size. I also realize that its is easier to controll the amount I eat by having green tea prior to the meal and eating a piece of fruit or vegetable 20 minutes before dinner. It takes a while for your body to signal itself that it is not so hungry. Learn to pay attention. It will always be a struggle for me so I attempt to make healthier choices and record what I planned to eat to see how it affects my daily plan.

How do I define my state of health?
- enthusiasm (and courage)
- energy; 2 hours shovelling & walking through snow today was effortless
- clothes fitting; my ski pants & jacket zipped up
- blood levels; I haven't check yet
- outlook; better able to manage stress @ work
- appearance; great hair cut and strong nails
- enjoying workouts; love the opening from yoga
- craving healthy foods; notice the water very much!

Daily Coaching Motivation Day 16

Wednesday, February 06, 2013

For today's visualization exercise, imagine that you are a professional athlete and need to keep your body and mind in peak shape. I heard a motivational speaker on this subject - how he treated his recovery from an injury with the same manner and dedication as he did his training. It was very inspirational.

Daily Coaching Motivation Day 15

Tuesday, February 05, 2013

take 30 seconds to visualize yourself sitting in the middle of an open field, feeling the sunlight shine down on your face. Harness that calm, warm energy to put you on the right track for the day.

Oh how I wish I'd read this in the morning. I was ready for a nap and desperate to go home by 2pm, lol! I did take a few minutes to close my eyes in Viparita Karani (with legs up the filing cabinet) at work and breath until I felt my collar bone open and my shoulders settle back onto the floor. I closed my eyes and enjoyed lying there ... and then REALLY wanted to go home to bed :)

What an excellent comment

A setback is when you slip up, get busy, or become distracted from your goals.
A failure is when you decide your health isn't worth the effort.

What a powerful statement ....

Daily Coaching Motivation Day 15

Monday, February 04, 2013

Imagine that you're out to dinner and you order one of the healthiest options on the menu instead of your usual order. How does it make you feel to have made the healthier choice?

Last week, we ended up at Subway in a rush and I did take the time to read through their poster of healthier fair to make my choice. It was still to much change and I felt ill later that night, but it was the intent that was correct. At a restaurant - grilled chicken on a garden salad with dressing on the side.
