feeling uncomfortable

Monday, January 30, 2012

I don't know what's wrong but I feel almost ill today, just nervous as can be. It's a heavy feeling in my chest and a sick feeling that something's missing

feeling nervous

Sunday, January 29, 2012

I have anxiety this afternoon, although I don't know why. I had a productive day but I have this sickening feeling that I'm running out of time, but I don't know for what. I cleaned my bathrooms, went for a walk with my hubby, planned-shopped for and cooked meals for this week. All I have left is my strength training and maybe a bath?!

However dinner was delicious. Beer can chicken with roasted root vegetables, sauteed mushrooms and an onion-garlic-beer based gravy. For an $8 chicken, we'll get at least 8 meals out of it (4 dinners for two: Sunday through Wednesday this week. Two of the chicken and veg and then adding the shredded chicken bits to Chef Meg's Pad Thai, instead of tofu). I scheduled the recipe to post on my blog for this week: food.brookeandsteve.ca/

Thanks so much TERRIJDY. Not yet but I'm going to go for a workout so I can celebrate having met all my goals for today.

The modified recipe sounds like it will be good...looking forward to your post!
Did you find peace? Sometimes we just need to give ourselves a pep talk to get past the negativity the anxiety attacks cause. Don't you find it usually isn't anything?
Hope you find things better soon.... emoticon

So many things

Saturday, January 28, 2012

There is such a great list and it starts with ticking off almost all my streaks today:

- restarted the 5k your way program today
- rewarded 4 weeks of spark streaks with a new pair of running shoes
- had lunch with a dear friend and celebrated her good news together
- had some "alone time" today while my sweetheart was away visiting his Dad
- sorted through my office and did a reorg with my new IKEA bookcase (that I assembled myself)
- ate delicious meals and felt full all day; met my water goals early in the day
- feeling well today and full of joy!

difficult day

Friday, January 27, 2012

Today just felt difficult, like everything required more effort than it should. Still, it's the weekend now and I have a delicious smelling dinner waiting for me: red potatoes boiled with lemon zest and thyme, beet salad dressed with balsamic and olive oil and a slice of ezekiel bread topped with cottage cheese infused with olive oil, thyme and lemon zest and an oz of smoked salmon. Total calories for such a filling and diverse dish is only 450 Calories. This meal is from the Jamie Olive meals in minutes, which I didn't love at first but the dishes I have tried have turned out great!

Afterwards I am going to enjoy a glass of wine and a cup of herbal tea with a handful of grapes for dessert.

I have started having fruit for dessert - mostly grapes or an asian pear. I am really enjoying it much more than I expected. Particularly, it is sweet so I feel like I had a "dessert" and it's more satisfying than chocolate, where you just want more.

I am also maintaining my 80oz of water every day. It is the end of week four and this feels like its becoming more of a habit and choice than a conscious effort. I am really glad!

I too am at the end of week 4, and it is certainly becoming easier to come up with meals and snack...I just got home from a workshop and it's almost 11pm and I opened the fridge (unplanned snack) but I took out a can of bean medley and added some 15 cal italian dressing - so bean salad and a small dish or cottage cheese.... Your supper sounded super delicious... and so lo-cal...WooHoo!

Keep up the good work....

Great friends

Thursday, January 26, 2012

tonight I attended a board meeting - we were discussing how much we enjoy sharing dinner together, in our homes (we rotate each month). Janet made a DELICIOUS meal: fresh salsa to start, pork tenderloin with roasted parsnip/carrot, asparagus and a salsa-quinoa salad and home made bread pudding for dessert. Spectacular!

I overate at a lunch meeting and it wasn't particularly unhealthy (Greek inspired but I really filled up); I don't feel guilty. It was a delicious meal! I had chicken breast on rice with tzatziki and a small triangle of spanakopita. The baclava & pita chips were a bit too much but that's okay too because I don't eat them regularly.

All my meals this week have been well planned and although I've felt full and eaten regularly, have been below my on the calories and I'm on track with cardio and 80oz of water. All is well.
