difficult day

Friday, January 27, 2012

Today just felt difficult, like everything required more effort than it should. Still, it's the weekend now and I have a delicious smelling dinner waiting for me: red potatoes boiled with lemon zest and thyme, beet salad dressed with balsamic and olive oil and a slice of ezekiel bread topped with cottage cheese infused with olive oil, thyme and lemon zest and an oz of smoked salmon. Total calories for such a filling and diverse dish is only 450 Calories. This meal is from the Jamie Olive meals in minutes, which I didn't love at first but the dishes I have tried have turned out great!

Afterwards I am going to enjoy a glass of wine and a cup of herbal tea with a handful of grapes for dessert.

I have started having fruit for dessert - mostly grapes or an asian pear. I am really enjoying it much more than I expected. Particularly, it is sweet so I feel like I had a "dessert" and it's more satisfying than chocolate, where you just want more.

I am also maintaining my 80oz of water every day. It is the end of week four and this feels like its becoming more of a habit and choice than a conscious effort. I am really glad!

I too am at the end of week 4, and it is certainly becoming easier to come up with meals and snack...I just got home from a workshop and it's almost 11pm and I opened the fridge (unplanned snack) but I took out a can of bean medley and added some 15 cal italian dressing - so bean salad and a small dish or cottage cheese.... Your supper sounded super delicious... and so lo-cal...WooHoo!

Keep up the good work....

Great friends

Thursday, January 26, 2012

tonight I attended a board meeting - we were discussing how much we enjoy sharing dinner together, in our homes (we rotate each month). Janet made a DELICIOUS meal: fresh salsa to start, pork tenderloin with roasted parsnip/carrot, asparagus and a salsa-quinoa salad and home made bread pudding for dessert. Spectacular!

I overate at a lunch meeting and it wasn't particularly unhealthy (Greek inspired but I really filled up); I don't feel guilty. It was a delicious meal! I had chicken breast on rice with tzatziki and a small triangle of spanakopita. The baclava & pita chips were a bit too much but that's okay too because I don't eat them regularly.

All my meals this week have been well planned and although I've felt full and eaten regularly, have been below my on the calories and I'm on track with cardio and 80oz of water. All is well.

Fantastic evening

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

What an excellent night - my husband surprised me with a glass of wine at dinner and an evening together. We even booked a holiday weekend getaway! Then I did my workout and joined him to watch Nova. I feel quiet and calm today, with very minimal pain.

Joyful day

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Didn't sleep well last night but what a great day:

- wore my new shirt that I got a great price on
- my pants felt loose
- I said no to a committee invitation
- I had great meals all day and everything was planned
- I had two of my friends write me with recipe successes
- I made a new friend on SP who sent me a goodie (first time for me and ever so glad!)
- I organized all my summer scarves and winter paraphernalia by colour and bought coordinating bins for the front hall closet
- I felt joyful today emoticon

chocolate race

Monday, January 23, 2012

Today was a day where nothing went terribly wrong, but I was slow moving. Lots of talking with people that I don't normally see and that was nice.

Tonight we practiced on the reformer in Pilate's and again it reinforced my decision that this was a good choice for me. Then! when I got home I had an adorable package of sticky notes arrive in the mail for the chocolate race: a larger ginger woman in a green dress and high heels chasing a chocolate bunny yelling "bite me!" Made me smile. Race day is April 28 and I have a goal to beat my best time emoticon

To quote "because life is short, running is hard and chocolate tastes good."
