DH's first day back at work

Monday, April 04, 2011

I'm really happy for him, and us. He's excited about this new opportunity and the new company seems like they already appreciate his talents.
(He's an actuary - math/statistics/ computers, etc.)
Paying for COBRA was quite draining, and I'm glad to be offered insurance again!

So, I spent the morning in the basement cleaning and painting, ate some lunch and will now go work out. This is another transition and I hope that my new healthy routine is not affected. It's going so well and I'm enjoying that.

Later, I'm preparing his favorite dinner salad and a nice bottle of wine to celebrate his first day. I'm a very lucky woman.

DH is Wii skiing and I'm smiling

Sunday, April 03, 2011

Like a happy snowball rolling down a hill, I was inspired to reach for better fitness by many people surrounding me. Most of the women in my book club are more fit then they were last year, and so am I.

Wii Fit has been a great activity for me on this journey, and I can use all the of the resources available to me to reach my goal! This has further inspired the people around me to do better as well.

Yipee!!

I bought a Wii for my daughter and granddaughters two years ago. When I tried it I was so impressed that I finally decided to get one for myself even though it took 4 months before my local Walmart had one in stock! I got the Wii Fit at the same time and then bought Wii's for each of my DIL's! I really enjoy mine, especially Walk It Out and the Wii Fit and just bought Zumba although I have a way to go before I am any good at it. It was a good investment as far as I am concerned and all four of us are using them and benefiting from the exercise. I did 50 minutes today concentrating on yoga.

Fete du mayonnaise update

Saturday, April 02, 2011

The party was phenomenal! Our best yet, and many requests to offer it for next year's church auction. (Very flattering.)

Even though my guests each ate their fill of the many dips, spreads, cheeses and sweets we had available, there are leftovers. I'll be measuring and portioning out yummy stuff and having little treats for days. I'm cool with that. This is a marathon, not a sprint.

As a bonus, I now have a super-clean house!

Now I'm off to work out.

I know that I need to figure out how to get organized and clean. I do not see whell and was just told that the cleaner I used last was slowly destroying the finish on multiple pieces of furniture. I am also with a lot of difficulties when it comes to organizing things.

Fete du mayonnaise

Friday, April 01, 2011

Our annual church auction party is tonight. This year, people paid $90 a ticket to come to our house for homemade wine (DH's hobby) and fattening snacks (that would be my territory)

We're calling it the Fete du mayonnaise (French for "celebration of mayonnise") because we used half of a jar of that substance to prep all of the food for the party. Yes, I have fruits and veggies to share and I will be writing down everything I consume.

The really big deal is that I have no dread and guilt flying around my head right now. If I eat it, I write it down. Even if I eat too much and don't lose weight this week, I'm not a bad person. I've always said this in the past, but that was merely lipservice. I honestly have less emotional reaction to food right now.

I'm off to have a great party and to keep on making healthy choices 90-95% of the time.

Bravo. You are most definitely not a bad person. We make choices, some wise - others not. But you have discovered a great tool - being less emotional with regards to food.
Have a wonderful time at your get-together!

Did you know you can eat just half of a doughnut?

Thursday, March 31, 2011

and if you eat small bites, it can last just as long as a whole doughnut.

I savored every tiny bite.

Nice! Isn't that funny how before SP and focus even one wasn't enough, but now satisfaction comes with a few bites! I had half a cupcake just last night and I was fine!

Yup, I am finding that out here lately. I can eat 1/2 a sandwich, 1/2 a container of yogurt. It's amazing what you can do and be satisfied with.

Thanks.
