Walk/Ran my 1st 5k! Does Treadmill Count???

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

This is a marker. I know I've walked more than that but today, purely by accident, I decided to see how long it would take to actually finish those 3.1 miles. When I got on I intended on simply doing 5% incline training with intervals scattered here and there. But like Sigourney Weaver (Ripley) from Aliens when she saw that egg open I snapped and started thinking crazy at 1.5 miles. "Well, I'm already half way there. Let's do this!!" It took me 48 min 18 sec to git r dun. Having since gone over to I figured my pace at 15.35 min/mile. Shoes performed well, feet didn't hurt a bit, but I was more impressed with what I could do when I simply put my foot in my own a$$ and not quit. I'm sure my time will improve as the weight drops and especially if I remember to drop the incline. emoticon It was worth every drop of sweat that trailed behind me when done.

Yea!!! Great job!! I think a 5K on the treadmill counts! I try to do it every day! LOL I do a 17 min/mile at a 4% incline and it takes me a little over an hour (includes warm up and slow down)! So i think it is awesome you did so well on the first one!!!
Keep up the good work!

Quotes of the Day - Margaret Thatcher and Yoda

Tuesday, September 01, 2009

~ You may have to fight a battle more than once to win. ~ Margaret Thatcher

Do, or do not. There is no "try." - Yoda

As long as you're alive, go ahead and check your pulse, you're in the game and you've got a shot. If you throw in the towel at 30 but die at 65 (way too young) what were you doing with all that time? Could've been time spent making the hard choices, doing the not so easy things (like blogging) and adding some joy and years to your life. - me

Read This And Die of a Fart Attack!

Excellent choice! You're passing (pardon the pun) will bring much joy and laughter to those fortunate enough to witness this once in your lifetime event. All that's left is to choose a venue. Some personal favs are: a crowded after lunch elevator, coitus, annual physical/pap smear, Disneyworld, family reunion, intermission of a play/symphony/ etc, yoga class...

Still can't believe I chose Bananas over Peanut M&Ms...

Friday, August 14, 2009

I stared into the vending machine...this can't be right? There sat a 3.27 oounce bag of Peanut M&Ms for only $1.25! Normally for that price you get the 1.74 ounce bag. Twice the deliciousness for half the money. As I stood there, sippin on my freshly reheated coffee, it dawned on me: this is a test! I remembered I still had the two bananas I bought earlier for a whopping .35 cents and figured long term, they were the better deal.

Good job! It would have been a hard choice for me, too, but the good feeling from knowing you passed the test will last much longer than the temporary enjoyment and then guilty feelings you probably would have had from the candy. emoticon

emoticon on making the right choice! I never liked bananas too much but that has been changing. I probably would have made the same choice, but it is definitely progress, and I am sure you felt much better about it at the end of the day.
