It's not the end of the world...that's in 2012

Sunday, December 27, 2009

The chances are slim to none of me getting to 180 by year's end, which is only 5 days away, (woohoo, who else is gonna get wasted?) but I'm not that worried about that. It's been a great year! I'm truly grateful for the chance to share what in the past was a very personal struggle with all of you. I haven't weighed in for the week but I'm confident that before the year's out I'll be 198 or less. May not sound that great but considering I started the year at 238: that's about 40 pounds down (someone check my math).
Will I get there...I have no doubt. I've changed my relationship with food and that's what did me in in the past. It's not perfect and I don't think it ever will be, but it's better. I look at food more like the fuel it is that my powers my days and helps me shape my world.
I like to believe we're all works in progress and until we no longer draw breath we can change what we see on the canvas before us. So to all of my Sparkbuds and you avid reader, I wish the very best in 2010. May we all get closer or completely crush those goals that have eluded us.

Or to put it another way, I put down what grandma picked up.

It doesn't have to be this way, seriously. Good luck!

Hey man, 40 lbs. lost will be awesome! You have made great strides. I know how you feel about missing your goal, because I did the same thing myself and I know that I should have accomplished it, but I will continue, as I am certain that you will and in the end both of us will get to where we want to be. You encouraged me, and I hope to reciprocate. emoticon

you've made such strides! Well done. So exciting that you have found some peace with food. Me, I can really associate with the girl and the tube of Oreos!
There is no time limit on the weight loss. It's always so hard to remember that slow losses are the winning ones.
It's been so nice getting to know you. Enjoy your New Years! See you soon,

Thanks - awesome blog, reminded me to be proud of my nearly "50" in one year - less than 5 lbs per month but I am wearing smaller clothes than I was last year at this time and I feel so much better. Got to get crackin when the new year comes around and get rid of another 40. I can do it, we can do it! Good Luck in 2010. emoticon

Meet the piggy bank for the 21st century.

Wednesday, December 23, 2009

Came across this and thought what a great idea to help modern youngsters get a grasp on the different aspects of how to deal with money. It's over at Money Savvy Generation "http://www.msgen.com/assembled/money_savv
y_pig.html"

From the website:
"One slot piggy banks have been around for....centuries. But the world has changed. Now we have a highly sophisticated financial system, a system whose complexity has outstripped the ability of most adults, many of whom grapple with credit card debt, even bankruptcy.

Personal finance education needs to start young. How? With the same universally loved childhood toy, the piggy bank....but with a 21st century twist! The Money Savvy Pig piggy bank has four chambers, one for each of the four money management choices a child should be taught from the time they are small. They are SAVE, SPEND, DONATE, and INVEST."

I love those. Especially the first one as I constantly have to be munching on something. I've finally learned that if I snack on sunflower seeds all day I tend to not eat as much thoughout the day. I wish someone would hide my silverware lol.
