"Don't Dream It...Be it."

Monday, February 09, 2009

Hey all! Not sure how many of you have seen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," but that was one of lines sung by Frank N. Furter. And even though the source is a little weird it still rings true. I think if you hold a vision of something strongly enough that you start taking actions, no matter how small, towards its end you will eventually bring that vision into your reality. Hope you all have good workouts and a great week.

OMG...What was I thinking?

Sunday, February 01, 2009

Hey all! Spending the weekend in Columbus, OH I decided to go and see "Quantum of Solace." But in the planning Google maps showed it about 5.2 miles by car and I thought "how far if I walked?" 5.1 miles. Hmmm. Save some gas burn some calories. A good idea for the other three seasons but believe me...snow changes everything! It took 2 hours 15 minutes to get there (they showed about 95 minutes travel time). I didn't even time myself on the way back, just glad I made it. 10.2 miles!! Thank God I brought music and some water otherwise it would have been really bad. I'm making a big deal of this but in the "olden times" this kind of distance was probably routine and required. Could cars be making us fatter? I will say I was worried by the distance but when I made it there and was still feeling reasonably good, I knew I'd make it back...if no one hit me and/or my thighs didn't burst into flames. Just kept putting one foot in front of the other and that's the same way I need to be on this journey. There's gonna be some slippin' and sliding but if I hold my course and keep moving forward I will reach my destination. Good luck all and have a safe great injury free week.

This can't be right...the scale reads what? Ok, keep it Clean!

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Well, first I thought I would be doing this more frequently but as with all things I'll have to work on that. I just got a new digital scale a few weeks ago and was looking forward to trying it out. I guess the truth does hur...sometimes. I found out that my old spring scale was reading low (apparently the springs can stretch over time) and the new scale showed me at 238, every freaking time I stepped on it! I miss springy, with him you could do a little shuffle and take the average, a little to the front, leaning, and inch back. But Digi is cold in it's calculation...unwavering. At least I know where I stand and after getting back after it this week I'm down to 236. It's all good, just have to adjust my timeline but no matter the date I will reach my goal!

Hey all! Don't be alarmed if you notice that my nutrion tracker only shows 1500 cals or less on any given day. Since I'm tracking the calories elsewhere and Sparkpeople only gives points for the first five foods I'm only entering a hand full of the things I eat. This is war and I'm not going to lose to self sabotage by ignoring the needs of my body. I calculated my bmr and am eating the calories that I need to maintain an active lifestyle and hope you are too. Peace.

Keep up the good work. As long as you're tracking it somewhere. I do the same thing. I use other software for tracking my food
