BFL: Week 1: Feeling Down. Beaten but not Broken

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

~*~I want to thank everyone who regularly reads my blogs. You inspire me!~*~

Hey everyone!

I am busy studying but had lots of stuff on my mind so decided to quickly write some of my thoughts down.

Today has been a rough day for me.... I'm tired of feeling fat and out of shape!!! *PMS/TOM doesn't help either! LOL* AHHHHH! I'm tired of talking about it. I'm tired of thinking about it. And I want my hard work to produce results!!! emoticon I guess you've got to REALLY REALLY want to lose weight to have the determination not to give up! I am beginning to feel like no matter what I do, I can not lose the weight. *I know this is not true, but I feel let down that eventhough I am continuing to work hard I am not seeing results.*

I have accepted that this is going to be an up hill and sllooooowww process for me, but I jsut feel like I am being repetitve. I almost want to stop updating all together b/c I feel like I set goals and sometimes reach them/sometimes don't and I'm sure you guys are tired of reading my hopeful wishes. :-{
----------------------------------------
---

So because I am an optimistic to the bone, I am trying to dig DEEEEEP and find something to learn from my lack of progress.

1. I AM realizing that for me I am going to have to watch every morsel of food I eat and stick VERY closely to the plan or I see no results.
2. I can no longer blow it off as one more chip or one fast food meal won't hurt, b/c I obviously need to shock my body into weight loss.
3.I will continue to make smart choices and choose progress over perfection.
4. I am doing my best to incorporate small things like, getting up every hour to walk 5 mins around the library while studying OR leaving food on my plate
5. I WILL NOT GIVE UP. I am sorry if I am repetitive guys :-{ I hope my lack of progress doesn't discourage you! All I know is that I am working hard. I am not seeing results as quickly as I'd like... but I will continue to believe that IF I KEEP PUSHING eventually I will see some results.
6. I need to be realistic with my expectations. I am busy. I have a VERY stresful life for the next 2 years*at least*. So I am pledging to do my best and give my all to the BEST of my abilities... but I can not expect to be perfect 100% of the time.

So this will be my lesson in perserverance. I am going to continue to push. continue to fight for every pound I can lose.

My workout schedule for the Body for Life challenge:
*Goal 1 hr of exercise/ day. Since med school steals ALL of my free time I will at least complete 30 mins of exercise. I am allowing some leeway b/c it is unhealthy to be extreme and nothing in life is all-or-nothing.

Sun- Cardio
Mon- weights + cardio
Tues- Off
Wed- weights + cardio
Thurs- off/fun exercise
fri- weights + cardio
Sat-Cardio

Perseverence is what will get you to taht finish line, so just keep on pushing. I have not moved the scale much in almost a year now, but on the bright side I truly feel like the 25 lbs. I lost are gone forever and ever. So at least that is something! I will keep pushing to reach my goal and so will you!! We can do this! And we will live longer and healthier because we did :-)

One day at a time, one step at a time, one minute at a time if necessary--You'll get to your goal that way.

Great blog--honest and thoughtful. Best wishes to you as you pursue these goals. I'm rooting for you! emoticon

emoticon Good planning and good thinking!
We are all in the same boat.
The success, I believe , is a natural consequence of our determination to continue no matter how we feel. We can not forget our dreams and never give them up. What's the rush anyway?

Weeks 11/12: Recommitment

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

I had a wonderful time on my cruise! It was therapeutic to look over the ship's edge and see clear/BLUE water... I went out of my way not to overeat and tried to choose fruit and veggies most of the time. Now OBVIOUSLY I ate a lot of good food too!! :-) YUM! I think I put on a few pounds on the cruise despite trying not to but I have already started removing them! :-) I will update my weight soon. I have a test Friday and this is a VERY busy week for me!

I'm making this one brief because I have re-committed myself to choosing healthier foods, cardio and strength training!

I started the Body for life Challenge on Sunday 3/15/09
*I am doing my best to stick to the program and WIN the money and body!! :-)
*It is a 12 week program and focuses on lean meats and veggies and making healthy choices! *Actually I am doing the body for life for women challenge.

I'll be back later to write more!

**Goal weight 140 -142

**I would like to RE-dedicate myself to yoga AND running.

**I'm running a 10K on March 28 and I know I could run it today if I had to **I just ran 5.5 miles Saturday** BUT I want to improve my mile time AND would like to improve my conditioning before then :-)

WEek 10: Final Countdown!

Tuesday, March 03, 2009

lol. I just like the song! singing- it's the final countdownnnnnnnnn- emoticon
----------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
---------
I am preparing for my cruise! I have been choosing my meals carefully! I am not overdoing it too much because I don't want to be injured and sore ON the cruise! I am prepared to enjoy next week fully!! Hmmmm.... I have 2 weeks left in my 12 week challenge and I havent accomplished what I wanted despite my hard work, so for the next 2-3 weeks I am going to keep working hard, and re-evaluate my habits. Because I think making small consistent changes is going to be vital in my reaching my goals!

Good things= I have lost some weight, I lost inches, I have improved my mood and ability to handle stress!!, I am able to stay alert longer, I am proud of what my body is able to accomplish, and I finally realize that loving myself, where I am, is the fastest way to get to my goal!

* My next few challenges will be for 6 weeks at a time, because I feel that it will be easier to focus on a goal and stay motivated the entire time!

- My plan for the rest of this week and next week. I would like to do
1. yoga daily **even if only 10-30 mins**-now and on the cruise- I have been having trouble quieting my spirit. but I realize the importance of meditation and focusing on myself.
2. Push ups , crunches, lunges, and squats the next 5 days until the cruise.
3. 30 mins of cardio per day on the cruise -shouldn't be hard considering you get to walk around the different countries!

*may seem like a lot, but there is SO much free time on a 7 day cruise and there are sooo many opportunities to stay active! + I am way more confident when I am moving my body and staying active!

----------------------------------------
-----------------
I give myself permission to get my exercise/cardio in however I can!! Yesterday I could not get the motivation to make it to the gym, so after much thought I said... hmmm... I will just dance. So I put on some music and made up my on exercise routine. I kept my heart rate around 120-165/170 bpm. It was much better than if I had 1/2 heartedly done a taebo tape or worked out slowly on a machine. Not to mention, time flies when you are having fun and I did a lot of strength exercises too because it gets tricky making up new moves for 30 mins!
----------------------------------------
-----------------
SOOOO... don't forget the body doesn't care HOW you move it. It doesnt' know the difference b/t turbo jam and taebo, or the treadmill vs. Denise Austin. It knows sweat and hard work. Do what you enjoy!!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon <----- I REALLY do love spark!

Week 9: FINE-aly loving myself thin!!!

Thursday, February 26, 2009

Hey all!

I ran 5 miles today and according to heart rate monitor burned 908 calories. That may or may not be true... but either way I again CHOSE to exercsise and stay active and make time for y fitness!!! I'm off to study for the rest of the day now but I am truly proud of myself for not giving up...

OH AND GUESS WHAT!
I am 148.4!!! YAY! No longer in the 150's and this time I am watching my cals and working out super hard for the next week to get as far away from 150 as possible! lol.

My cruise is in a little more than a week! I would like to be 145 by then. Wish me luck... emoticon But honestly, I've finally figured out that I am going to love me for me RIGHT NOW. If I don't make my goal by the cruise... So what!? Am I really not worthy if my stomach is bigger than I would like it to be? Am I really not going to enjoy my vacation because I'm not at my goal weight *or not even that close really... lol*? NO

NO I AM NOT! I am going to continue to work hard and do my best. I am going to continue to give my all and in the meanwhile I am going to ENJOY MY LIFE as I am Right now! I am fine. God loves me as I am right now. So why should I disrespect Him by disliking me? and though there are things I need to work on I have decided that I deserve the same love and respect I would give anyone else! SO...

Best of luck to you all this week. I'm going to love myself thin! I suggest you do the same!

Oh and they make clothes in all sizes... and I'm pretty sure I'll be looking super sexy on my cruise. Size 10 or not!

Love you all Spark people! Please keep encouraging me! emoticon
