HMM.... so is this the secret?

Maybe this was the secret ALL ALONG. Do it whether you feel like doing it or not. I was watching the #DNC and decided that I could watch Bill Clinton JUST as well from my spin bike. Thanks to the DNC and my spin bike I burned 550 unexpected calories!

Just like that!

OH, and I stayed within my calories again today! :-) I'm on a role. GOing to focus more on my eating than workouts (because I know I love those and will get them in most days just for how they make me feel. I think the battle will be in my food choices.)

They are trying to make Obama out to be such a failed President yet I read this list the other day how the Republicans in the Congress have blocked every issue he has wanted to pass and how they have done it to get re-elected but it has hurt the American people so much these last 4 years. Experiment: Tired, sleepy, and don't want to work out.

Today was a GOOD day, If I do say so myself.

I slept ~ 8 hours woke up and decided to do a QUICK morning workout. I did 17 mins and burned 170 cals. Did 10 mins on treadmill 7 on the spin bike (in my home gym-that I love dearly) and then quickly showered and got ready for work.

At work, I saw lots of patients but remained in good spirits and energy. I had the mental wherewithal to remember tasks that needed to be done AND got them done on time. :) And EVEN finished my day at 5 pm... which is a rarity as a doctor in residency.

And then my experiment began. I had dance class at 6:30. I LOVE this dance class. The issue is, after work I am EXHAUSTED. No matter how great the day is, it takes a LOT of energy to go through the day and empathetically listen and solve the problems of others. A big part of me wanted to just skip dance. I mean, I had already done an am workout, and while brief... it was EFFECTIVE.

So, I openly challenged myself: Go to the dance class. Go eventhough you don't want to go (and eventhough you know you have an amazing time every time you go.) Go even while tired. Go while there is no place I'd rather be than in my BED. Just GO. Get it done and see how you feel. [ SN: I have to tell you I cheated a bit, I know for a fact that I ALWAYS feel better after working out] I wanted to prove to myself that I love working out so much that even on a horribly exhausting day when my bed is begging me to come home, I will still feel better and more full of energy after a workout.


DRUM ROLL PLEASE:



MY EXPERIMENT WAS A SUCCESS! I absolutely am FULL OF ENERGY. My mind is clear. My stress from work is gone. I feel happy and hopeful. I still get to go to bed in 3 hours but now I may actually get something done instead of dragging about moping that work is gonna be here in the am before I know it. ;)


Note to self: Workout whether you want to or not. Workout because you KNOW you love it and you always feel better after you do. :)

BONUS: I burned 1325 calories... in ADDITION to my am cals! :-D

    LOL!! Yep I'm one of "those"! lol but I still skip my morning workouts sometimes... and that's how I KNOW that it makes a big difference in my moods (for ME). Everyone is different but at the least I'm starting the day off with a few extra cals burned and potentially eaten!

    I had to "just do it" this morning, repeating that phrase before I started. Once I began, I had to chant, "I can do this." I tried to stop early, but my DH wouldn't let me. God bless my dear husband. I'm so glad I walked my full 2 miles. I feel terrific about it. I would have felt very bad if I had quit at 1 1/2 miles.

So.. today is a FAT DAY for me.

I didn't realize it until a few hours ago. But I feel fat today... and I especially feel fat for tomorrow. lol. I know that makes no sense but basically I'm seeing an old friend tomorrow. And by old friend, I mean my college sweetheart who I haven't seen since 2007. TOM is here and I'm so bloated. I know if it was a week before or a week later I'd be feeling fine. I mean, I'm working out just about every day,Trying to eat better, drinking water and yet I realize... no matter how great I look tomorrow, I WON'T be the same size I was in college! :( I'm still at least 20 lbs heavier on a GOOD day and today is a BAD day. SIGH.

How is it that though I am trying every day, there still happen to be events when I'm feeling HUGE at the last minute. Oh well. I've got to make the best of it. Maybe I'll wake up feeling magically thinner tomorrow or at least less bloated. He's seen pictures of me and I feel like I look nice but I guess TOM has me feeling a bit off today.

    Thank you all for the support. TOM= my time of the month . He is gone and im less bloated and emotional! The reunion was great and he was just as handsome as i remembered. He happened to think i looked amazing and had no complaints! :-)

    When I have days like that, I really try to make healthier choices. I focus on eating TONS of veggies, and drinking lots of water... it helps counteract the feeling a bit, and leaves me feeling a bit better than if I overdosed on all the things I know will leave me even more bloated than I already do!

Accountability buddy/Diet coach?

Hy guys,

I'm looking for an accountability buddy for the next 6 weeks (or longer ). I'm doing the beck diet solution and we are supposed to have someone to check in with. I am super busy most days so I won't be writing constantly or bother you with every food decision :) LOL. I think it's just supposed to be someone whom I feel accountable to and of course, I would return the favor.

Just putting it out there. Hope someone is interested! :-D

I'm 5'1 Ultimate goal 120, Acceptable MID-range goal = 140. I'd like to lose ~ 8 lbs a month Until December 2012

    I am looking for exactly the same thing. I would love an accountability buddy who will check in every day with me.

I would like to track 2 goals:

- Did I exercise at least 30 min today?
- Did I eat 1600-1800 calories with a good balance of fat/carbs/protein?

If not, why not?
What are possible solutions to my reason(s)?
How can I do better tomorrow?

That's it. Anyone interested?

    YAY! Thanks Ladies! Fair warning today is not going to be the most superb day! I am eating fried fish, mac and cheese, and string beans/cabbage. And I'm loving it. But I will try to stay within my caloric goals! +/- workout!

    Nope you don't have to be doing the diet OR dieting at all! :-) Just have to be open to me seeing " MAN, I ate the whole kitchen today!!!" Or, "What do you think I could have done differently today, I only ate 1000 cals" emoticon which is QUITE unlikely! LOL

I'm going to try to keep my goals on the FOREFRONT of my mind which potentially could be difficult because I am so busy!

My FAVORITEST Saturday so far! Pics!

Yes I know Favoritest is not a word.

But... Guess what guys!!!?!?!

I bought my treadmill today! I got a T10.0 Livestrong Treadmill. It has an ipod player with speakers, goes up to 12 mph and 12% incline and a fan and other cool gizmos. I can even get preplanned workouts online and stuff! haha I'm super excited!



It took maybe 1.5 hours to build. My first workout on it burned 700+ calories and I am so glad I bought this treadmill!


You guys, get ready for some amazing calorie burn! I don't even have to go all the way to the gym anymore. I'll still go for my dance class, weights, and maybe Zumba.

Oh and I made the most amazing Taco Salad yesterday and today! YUM!

    hey! YEP I still love the treadmill... in fact, I am going to get on it tonight :) It has really made life easier and it makes it possible to workout whenever I feel like it even if it's cold or rainy or whatever outside.
