Preserving my Sexy... 8 week Challenge!

Hey everyone! I have decided to start a 8 week challenge since 2009 is WINDING DOWN! Time moves soooo quickly, and over all I am proud to say that I have kept fitness as a priority and even through my crazy schedule I have done my best to make time for my fitness. NOW it's time to crank it up and reach my goals BEFORE 2009 ends... and for me, the best way to stay focused is to take it one day at a time and set small short term goals!

My challenge includes
(I also am focusing on remaining positive, getting 7-8 hours of sleep at night, drinking 70 oz of H20 and journaling= I want a total body overhaul)

5 days cardio
3 days strength training
1 day yoga
stretch and meditate daily.
(I go into greater detail in my group Gonna Make it Happen)

emoticon I have changed my goals a little because working in the hospital has taught me a few things... being thin is nice and all BUT I believe it is more important for me to be healthy AND strong (at a reduced weight) than to try and force my body to get to 115.[ I see so many sick ppl who are frail and barely hanging on to life, that I know what ever WEIGHT my body is, I want it to be strong and fit AND healthy!!!!! !!! emoticon ] 115 is still my goal and if I can get there and still have muscles and energy to get through 80 hr work weeks GREAT! If I can only get to 125 and have muscle and energy I will be happy there!

For this 8 week challenge my goal is to lose 16 lbs. ( 148 --> 132)

    Thanks!!! :-) Good news ladies~ This challenge has allowed me FOR THE FIRST TIME to not have debilitating cramps during TOM!!! YAY for exercise!

    Thanks girl!! Yes we can do this! Take time to mentally prepare, have you ever tried writing in a journal? It works well... try it out! Oh and for the Yoga... maybe you can just buy a few yoga videos. I had to stop going to the studio because it was too expensive and I didn't have the time. It's much easier, cheaper, faster to buy a video and pop it in and do it when you get some free time. But I guess you don't get a hands on instructor... best of luck choosing... lol ;-)

    What a great challenge!!! I am down to do this too. Starting tomorrow. hmmm I am going to have to get mentally ready. For the rest of 2009 I am planning out my plan of attack with all levels of my life. Its funny that you bring this up I was just thinking that I needed some kind of 6 week Sexy Upgrade to step up my flyness. I too work alot and I fail to like curl my hair or put a little color on my cheeks. LOL I dont want to be like that. I just want to find the balacne of it all. Its great that in spite of being busy that you have been keeping up with your fitness. Its important, even if you think you have been slacking, you havent.
I am looking hard core for a place to go to start practicing yoga. Its hard to find a place with the times and hours I need. So hopefully I can find a new place. We shall see.

One day at a time

Hey guys! Just stopped by with an updatE! :-) I have been remaining focused on school AND getting my exercise in. I have purchased fast food a few times BUT I get the grilled sandwich instead of fried. I will be working from 7 a- 10 p tomorrow so I took the time to make Lunch (tuna fish, wheat crackers, and cantoloupe) AND dinner (spaghetti w/ ground turkey, mixed veggies) so since I made both of them I do not have to buy them and I know they are pretty healthy!

Goals for the next week:
**continue planning meals and bringing my lunch
**waking up early to work out
**Do a few yoga poses every day
**Do a few strength training exercises per day
**pray and write in journal almost every day (or everyday!)
**** MAINTAIN A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AT ALL TIMES :)

going to be busy!

Just letting everyone know that I'm going to be busy for the next... um... year probably. lol. I am working in the hospital starting monday for up to 80 hours a week so I won't have time to get on as much. but I will stay focused on my weight loss and get on when I can!

    Good luck on all you are doing right now. 80 hours is alot, but I am sure the time will go quick and before you know it you will be done. Is this your last leg of your degree plan? I know most tracks have you do your clinical hours last.

Make sure to get lots of rest, eat good to keep up your energy and make sure to wash your hands as often as you can! I know you know all that, but I can't help it- I'm a mom.

Renewme don't worry, I am NOT getting paid to do this. We are medical students, and basically we are paying to do all of this work... with loans! :) So, don't worry... we are all in the same boat!

    I will never understand why some people are asked to work 80 hours a week when others are having their hours cut or are being laid off. I've read several reports of nurses and teachers being out of work because of the economy...what a strange world we live in. Take care of yourself during this busy time...get you rest. emoticon

The Purge

At this very moment I am in the midst of a much needed PURGE! (of clothes!)

The thing is... I have been trying to de-clutter my apartment, life, etc... I feel that you can never truly be free to have peace until you remove the unnecessary things from your life :) I have SOOO many clothes. And while that is not a bad thing, I was sitting here thinking that day in and out I feel as if I have nothing to wear, yet I have clothes in drawers, bags, in the closet, on the floor in bins... etc... And I KNOW it is a blessing to even HAVE this as a problem. But today I decided that even if I do not finish, I will get organized (you have to start somewhere) and I am going through my clothes to give away the things I can. If they are in bins I probably don't use them every day anyway... And maybe this will be the incentive I need to actually buy some clothes that I would feel more comfortable wearing.

The strange thing is I AM NOT A SHOPPER. These clothes are accumulated from years of not getting rid of "out of style" clothes and always being around the same size... I can still wear some clothes that I had in 9th grade (though I wouldn't wear them in public... lol) and I'm 24 now!

I just wanted to write a quick blog to remind us all to take inventory of our lives and be THANKFUL for all the things you DO have even if you don't have everything you want or need. And while you're at it, find something to give away to someone who is in need!

Happy Tuesday. Back to school for me tomorrow! We start working in the hospital and now I have to wear business casual every day... WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD! LOL

    I have to purge some clothes too. I have so many clothes that I can't put them all away- not enough closet and drawer space for it all. One of the reasons I have had a hard time letting the clothes go is because they all still fit me and are in really good condition. Before I went on vacation, I purged a huge trash bag of clothes that I donated to Goodwill.

I am not a shopper either! Hanging in my closet are outfits I used to wear before I had kids- my oldest is almost ten! Kinda proud that it all still fits, but enough is enough!

Who is in control? : jUST DO IT!

I am beginning to realize... that we only can change the things we believe we have control over. So maybe we should look at our opposition as opportunities to grow into the people we need to be. an opportunity to FIND the things we CAN control... the things we CAN change and change them.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed that I am going to work 80 hours a week this year, maybe life would be more enjoyable if I thought of the things I can do to enrich my life in the meanwhile. (ex. doing daily morning exercises... praying at night, finding 5 mins to meditate)


Also I was thinking... maybe the "secret" to success is in doing the things you know you have to do... WHETHER you feel like it or not. Working out at 5:30 a.m. if you know that is the only time you can carve out of your day, studying for a test you don't want to take because you know in the long run you will gain way more than you lost by studying..., maybe Nike was right and we should JUST DO IT!

This weeks affirmation: There are things in my life that I CAN control! I can do what I need to do to achieve my goals.

Thought to ponder: How much quicker could we achieve our goals if we felt that we were truly in control. that our goal was not out of reach....?

We would certainly reach our goals much quicker, if we'd only spend more time "just doing it," instead of worrying that we'll never get it done.
