Does cleaning out my closet ....

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Does cleaning out my closet qualify as cardio? emoticon It took me most of the morning to go through what was hanging and hanging around my (main) closet. I took the time to try things on and was pleasantly surprised by some of the results. Shirts and capris that were too tight or unwearable last season are now fitting comfortably. I've got a good start on a "Sally-Ann" bag to go out the door and looking forward to looking more like the late, great me this season.

The problem is I have another closet of clothes to go through and various buckets of things stored away - seasonal clothes or previously too small. This is going to take awhile but once I am done, hopefully I will know what I have and where I have to add pieces. It is a tiring task though, probably not classed as 'cardio' but a necessary exercise to get through. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Maybe not cardio but certainly mentally exhausting, at least for me. emoticon

I'm not a good organizer and get emotionally attached to too much STUFF.
I think teaming up with someone helps me make better decisions on what to let go.
And decluttering feels so good after it is gone. emoticon

Wonderful that you got your closet cleaned out. Depends on how much hustling and heavy lifting you did, I guess! Good for you! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well, did it get your heart rate up? I know mine gets up every time I LOOK at my closet.

I've been thinking of cleaning out my girls' closet. It's been closed and full of stuff that we haven't touched literally since before they were born... and my oldest is 6! I think if I haven't used that stuff in 6 years, it's time to CLEAR IT OUT!

May not be cardio but it sure is exercise squirming in and out of clothes that may or may not fit
Best wishes as you continue to sort and find more clothes that fit
One closet/day at a time

Sounds like a good thing to do since you probably still have some of that snow left hanging around. BTW, love the picture. I will be doing the same thing in my closet in the near future. Until I know what fits this year I don't have a clue what to add for Spring shopping. Hopefully not a lot since I have sizes ranging from 10 thru 14. LOl emoticon Hurry
Spring!

A change of scene .. not for the better!

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

We drove home yesterday from our urban retreat in Vancouver. We left this

and this

This morning we woke up to this:

and this:

Not exactly inviting to get outside for a walk. My own bed feels wonderful but it is still snowing outside and I do not feel like a happy camper.

Not sure about the old adage "there's no place like home" this morning .....

I see what you mean. We had 1 1/2 inches when we woke up on Monday morning. I stayed in all day, but, the snow melted, except in shady places, by late afternoon. Played golf today and will play again tomorrow . The temperature tomorrow is supposed to go to 72. Come on down!

Oh, how I'd love that. Here in Georgia, we really don't get snow much at all. Haven't had any this year, and probably won't get it. We had it twice last year.

Oh the south. ;)

Valentine's from a child's perspective ..

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Happy Valentine's Day to all. It is the day of Love with a capital "L" and it started early here today at 5:30 a.m. We are at the grandchildren's house and yesterday was a day of activity creating special Valentines and Mom was baking up a storm: cookies and pink rice krispie squares to send to school, and special sugar cookies baked for a special decorating activity on Valentine's Day. There were gifts from Gramma and Grampa and decorations put up to set the stage for tonight's party. The girls' best friends and their Mom are coming for dinner tonight and the two gals fairly danced out the door to school loaded up with their Valentines to give out - with Hershey kisses attached lovingly to each card - and a specially decorated sugar cookie for their teacher. It is truly wonderful to see the world through the eyes of our 6 and 9 yr old gals. It really is a Day of Love and wonder and cause for celebration. emoticon

My heart is heavy today ...

Sunday, February 12, 2012

It's been a rough day. I got the news via email earlier today that my dear friend, who is a year younger than I am, passed away in the wee hours of the morning. She was a former golfing buddy and workmate. My heart is heavy as she was such a brave girl who fought her breast cancer with courage and dignity over the last 10 years. Her spirit shone bright all these years and now is extinguished.

Then this evening we had another call that a dear friend of ours passed this afternoon after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was 78 and was like the original earth mother.

These dear friends will be held close in memory and may their passing serve as a reminder to all of us that life is fleeting. Don't put off the important things; live for today and be the best that you can be right NOW. Live for today for tomorrow is not promised.

Blessings to all!

It's a good day .... for taking a walk .. or two

Friday, February 10, 2012

Arrived last evening to see the grandgals on Vancouver Island and it was partytime. There was cake and there were presents for grandma and grandpa. Luckily I had picked the 2 gals - ages 6 and 9 - up collector stones from the ferry with Chinese writings (good luck and prosperity); this morning I threw on my coat and walked with them to the bus stop. I've done the dishes and gone for a 40 minute walk. I feel invigorated and am looking forward to meeting the school bus at 3 o'clock.

These are my gals and they help keep me young. Lots of activity in this household.

They are beautiful and so are you! Sounds like you and the gals are having a ball. They are at a grand age. My grands are almost grown at 13 and 15 (both boys). Enjoy them while you can. emoticon

Nice blog. Your two gals are adorable! Is it easier to keep up with them than when you were heavier? HOpe you enjoy your day and weekend.
