Weekly weigh in and H4H challenge...

Challenge is an appropriate word to describe the past week. Work continues to be absolutely beyond hectic. I worked 50+ hours last week plus 10 hours this weekend. Hopefully once these reports get finished I can return to a more normal schedule.

I had a weight loss this week... 1.3lbs to be exact. While I am always thankful for a loss, I know it wasn't a result of direct actions on my part this week. I haven't been to the gym in a week. I did get some walking in around downtown Portland, but no regular deliberate exercise to speak of. I also barely ate anything all week due to stress and the workload, only to gorge 3 unhealthy meals this weekend. The events of the past week have given me lots to think about as I move into this week and get back on track. I will not be derailed again...


So my results...

Last week's weight: 239.3 lbs
This week's weight: 238.1 lbs
Weekly loss: 1.3 lbs
Total loss: 18.9 lbs

    I feel your pain since this week for me is shaping up to be similar to yours of last week. Here is to the both of us to stay focused and keep on track. It isn't always easy but the goal is always there...to get healthy and fit. Congratulations on the 1.3lbs. It may not feel like a lot to you but I try to remind myself that any loss is in the right direction. I pray you have an easier week this week.

Hot For Halloween (H4H) Challenge

My name is Rich and I am a 31 year old guy living in Portland, OR. This is my first blog for the Hot For Halloween Challenge. I thought it'd be fun to start with a couple of pics from Halloweens past:





Yes - my big belly in that Boyscout uniform still haunts me to this day HAHA! I have two main reasons why this challenge is important to me:

- Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, but was tarnished last year. Unfortunately, my father was diagnosed with cancer last fall and he had major surgery the weekend of Halloween last year. I am hoping this Halloween allows me to let loose and forget all of the things that my family has been through in the last year with my father's treatments and untimely passing in April.
- I moved across country in July and haven't seen friends back on the East Coast since the move. I have already lost 14lbs since moving to Oregon and want to lose 11 more to make it an even 25lbs. I want the difference in my appearance to be noticeable when I step off that plane in Knoxville, TN on October 29th.

Here are my weight numbers and goals for this challenge:

Start weight (Feb 2011): 257.0 lbs
Current weight: 239.4 lbs
Goal weight loss: 11 lbs
Goal weight at end of challenge: 228.4 lbs

    I like those songs also and have most of them on my ipod. I am the same, I put in my earbuds and off I go on my walks. It is crazy how far 5-6 songs can get me sometimes.

My first Vlog...

It is a day late but here is my first Vlog!! I need to find some good video editing software... any suggestions? Unfortunately I'm stuck on a PC right now... maybe a Mac if I make my weight goal.

    Nice job on the vlog! And very nice, sticking it out during your workout. The left side of my brain often goes into the 'you don't have to finish' and 'now would be a good time to stop' routine but I've learned to ignore it. Sometimes, repeating a mantra keeps that little voice quiet. Sometimes, I just ignore it and my body keeps on going. It happens to all of us though, so kudos on beating yours!

    emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon I'm so proud of you and thx for the shout out now I just need to cut my vids down lol!! SO its funny because on Wednesday I really truly had to push myself thru the workout my energy was gone and all I kept thinking was Dont stop how many times have you Quit and never finish... Dont Quit!! Plus MUSIC is KEY it helps get thru especially on cardio machines if it wasnt for my music jogging on the treadmill would not happen.
Well Cant wait fot your next vlog keep up the great work Enjoy your weekend!!

    The music in the workout keeps me from stopping coupled with the instructor (I'm an at home DVD kinda girl). If I'm walking on my treadmill I get so distracted I have to make myself stop when I start hurting (feet mostly). I think about how amazing I'm going to feel when I'm back to my healthy and skin comfortable weight. I love myself but I'm not as happy with how I look as I want to be so I think about that when I don't want to finish the exercise. Doing nothing helped me get here so if I do the opposite of nothing it will get me away from here. Congrats on your first vlog. Keep sparking!

    not bad! i appreciate that it wasn't incessant rambling for 5+ minutes........i turn those off.
to answer your question, what gets me through a work out is thinking of something completely different. during boot camp i think "your body is gonna be kickin when you are in that 2 piece walkin the beach in a month" then i just keep going with that little fantasy cause, i may not even have a trip planned.......although, i should go..this weekend even......
