September Goals...

I'm being proactive and prepping myself for the month of September. Below are my goals and rewards if I make it.

- September weight loss goal: 6lbs (1.5lbs per week = 234lbs by September 30)
- Log 500 fitness minutes in the month of September (I really want that 500 fitness minutes trophy)
- Weight train 3 times a week

That's it. I'm making it very simple and easy to follow. If I meet these three goals by September 30th then I get the following rewards:

- Yoga: I get to sign up for yoga classes. I need to research to find a good beginner's studio here in Portland.
- Glasses: I get to buy new eyeglasses. I've been wanting new frames for a while now. If I make my goal, I get to buy new frames.
- Fall Wardrobe: $50 for every pound that I lose in September towards a new fall wardrobe.

I'm super pumped for all that September has to offer. I'm lacing up my tennis shoes, stocking the pantry with healthy snacks, and getting my move on!

This week's results are in...

So I have decided to change my weigh-in date from Wednesdays to Sundays. I think this will help hold me accountable on Fridays and Saturdays, which have been my most challenging days in terms of getting my exercise in and eating right. I'm not having huge problems staying on plan, but the potential is there. Knowing I have to weigh in on Sunday morning will hold me accountable and surely be a motivator.

As part of this new strategy, I'm happy to report that I weighed in this morning at 241.4lbs. That represents a weight loss of 1.8lbs since my weigh-in on Wednesday. CRAZY right?? I definitely was not expecting such a large number only 4 days since my last weigh-in. I'm super stoked and with every ounce lost, I become even more motivated. My monthly goal was to be at 240 by the end of August - and that goal is definitely still achievable. That's my goal for this week. 1.4lbs to bring me down to 240. Here's to a week of working it out!

I'm going to start doing a summary on my weekly weigh-in posts. Here is the first:

Starting Weight: 257.0
Last Week's Weight: 243.2
This Week's Weight: 241.4
Weekly Weight Loss: -1.8 lbs
Total Weight Loss: -15.6 lbs

This Week's Goal: -1.4lbs = 240lbs

Weekly weigh-in.... Goal met!!!

Today was my weekly weigh-in. Last week I weighed 244.7lbs. My goal for this week was to lose 1.5lbs which would put me at 243.2. I totally nailed it on the head - the scale this forming fluttered back 243.2. Ensuring I hit the gym for at least 30 minutes the last three days contributed to this success, along with watching my calorie intake. As I said in my previous blog, I'm going to strive to have a 30 minute-a-day workout streak for the next 7 days.

Beyond thrilled with my results and know I'm on the right path. I'm down 13.8 lbs since I reignited my spark and feel a marked change in my energy and endurance. This week's goal is another 1.5lbs which would put me at 241.7 this time next week. Here's to motivation!

What have you done today to make you feel proud?

So excuse my foul mouth, but today was a ___________ day. I will let you fill in the blank. I was at the office from 7:30am - 10:30pm working on a deadline. Did I mention I had to fire one of my staff members today? Granted she had every opportunity and more lives than a cat, but in this economy it is still unnerving having to terminate someone. I sincerely hope she uses this as a catalyst to find something she enjoys and motivation to grow professionally.

So after all of those _________ activities, what did I do today to make myself proud? I walked into the apartment at 10:45pm and promptly put on my gym clothes and relieved the day's tensions on the elliptical. 30 minutes of music and sweat and endorphins and I'm suddenly in a much better mood. 3 day streak of getting my workouts in - let's see if I can make it 7 days.

Just thought I'd share. Make sure to ask yourself this question at the end of each day -"what have I done today to make myself proud?"

Saturday update...

I do my weigh-ins on Wednesdays, so I am going to strive to do a "mid-weight-week" check-in blog each Saturday. I think this will help hold me accountable so I won't think I can slide by a few days and get sidetracked from my plan on the weekends. Case in point - the last 3 days I have not been a very good Sparker. While I've kept my calorie intake under control, I definitely have not been making the best food choices and have not been eating a consistent 3 meals like I should. I really need to go to the grocery store and stock up on things so I won't feel tempted to stop by the food carts on my way home. I typically make decent choices at the food carts, but I really need to limit that to twice a week and cook at home.

Eating aside, I suppose I am most disappointed in the fact that today was my first day back in the gym in 3 days. I had committed to get in at least 30 minutes of cardio each day. With work being oh so crazy right now, hitting the couch at the end of the day has been much more tempting than hitting the gym. I am going to take the advice of LINDAJ0621 though and use the gym as a mechanism to destress. So here's to 30 minutes of cardio for the rest of the week until my weigh-in on Wednesday. If I want to lose that 1.5lbs this week I'm going to have to work!!!

I did get 45 minutes in on the elliptical this afternoon and it felt GREAT! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    emoticon Congrats on the 45mins and at least you know what the issues are so now you just got to fix them. So keep moving and making the right decision to go to the gym relieve stress then go home and relax with a shower first of course lol then to the couch!!
