Walk it Out -- What Fun!

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

If you have a Wii ~ you need to get "Walk it Out". This is one fun game. I have been using it now for about a month and you can walk for an hour before you even realize it. I actually walk/jog on my mini tramp while I play and it is a great work-out. I bought the game on Amazon with free super saver shipping of course LOL. Anyway, the game gives you a "chip" with every step you take. As you walk around "Rhythm island" you can spend your chips by clicking on capsules. These capsules cost anywhere from 5 to 500 chips apiece depending on what is inside. Some capsules contain trees... others are buildings, bridges, cars, music, etc. Two people can actually walk together which is fun with my granddaughter. Anyway, that is my pitch for the day. Anything to keep moving! Have a great week sparkies! Hugs, Rhonda

    Ohh - I have a Wii & Wii Fit.
Love mine also.
Is the actual Game called "Walk it out?"
I'd love something like that!
Thanks for the tip...off to look for it!

Thanks for the review! I second your thoughts. This game is soooo fun! I generally dislike exercise, but have been consistant with the Wii Walk It Out for about 3 weeks now. Living where it rains a lot (it is raining hard now, LOL) makes it important to have a variety of options for exercise. There is a Spark Team focusing on the wii walk it out game too, fyi! Enjoy!

Wonderful Long Week-end at Cape Kiwanda

Monday, June 07, 2010

I had such a fun week-end I just have to tell you all about it. My girlfriend Joyce has a condo at Cape Kiwanda... and her husband had to be out of town... so she asked me to join her for a little beach therapy. We had a ball! The place is first class and the view spectacular. We walked the beach, played miniture golf, swam in the pool, hot tubbed, watched movies, visited a few local sights, hiked some trails, chatted up a storm, ate good food, slept in.... you get the picture LOL. Anyway, thanks Joyce for the great week-end and my turn next in Arizona! Here are a few photos.... view from the unit, hiking trail and the octopus tree!

Wowsa...that is SO beautiful! Love that view and the Octopus tree is just too cool! I'm wondering where this is also. I'm so happy that you got to visit your friend there...there's NOTHING like a good friend to share with...that's why I'm always so ever grateful for my friends...in the flesh and virtual as well! Love, love, LOVE that you are able to blog again. Did you ever find out what went wrong that you couldn't? Good to know for future reference to me...I'd be bummed if I couldn't blog..kinda like not being able to talk...in a virtual way! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Appreciation for the Good Things in Life

Saturday, April 24, 2010

I loved todays Healthy Reflection e-mail "Appreciation for the Good Things in Life". The best things in my day are pretty simple. I love a hot shower in the morning... does anything feel better? I love getting in bed at night when I am tired... does anything feel better? I love the sense of accomplishment after I finish a tough work-out... does anything feel better? I love a warm sunny day when the air smells fresh after mowing the lawn.. does anything get better? I love a full tummy after having my morning oatmeal (DH even warms up my milk!)... does anything feel better? Simple stuff but makes for a pretty nice life.

This rings so true! The simplest things are also what truly matter--nourishment, a roof over our head, self-acceptance and the love and support of others. Thank you for sharing--I always appreciate your insight!

    So true, my friend!
This is what life is made of-
the small things.
It's wonderful to be able to appreciate them.
I drink hot tea every day and yet every single cup - I think 'mmmm... this is so good!'

Your blog is a reminder of the good things in life that are taken for granted. I'm meeting a good friend today and going for a long walk with her. Then we are coming back to have soup, salad, and a glass of wine. It can't get any better! emoticon emoticon

I went back and reread the Healthy Reflection for the day. You are so right...in this hurry, hurry, HURRY world of ours, the simple things are what bring the most pleasure. (Like my cat sleeping on my lap right now...) May the sun shine warm on your face, Rhonda!

Google Chrome instead of Internet Explorer .... Wowsa!

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Have you guys heard of Google Chrome? This is Google's FREE browser application that you can use instead of Internet Explorer. This application was new to me .... but based on Google's good reputation and the other cool products they have that I have used (such as Google Earth) I decided to give it a go. All I can say is Wowsa! Web pages load MUCH faster and the tabbed browsing pages are fast and easy. I recommend that you check it out. I have just started using it but it looks like a winner to me. Here is a link if you want to check it out.

Chrome is ok - I prefer Firefox and disabling all of the ads. It goes zippity quick!

But changing browsers can be fun - that's for sure. IE sucks! :)

I just tried it- def. faster- but couldn't access my 100s of bookmarks, although it said it was switching everything so I had to switch back to mozilla.

I LOVE Chrome! I'd never use any other browser if I had a choice. I especially like that your home page has all of your favorites right there. SparkPeople is #2 on mine - right behind my iGoogle page. If you like Google Chrome you might also want to check out iGoogle - it's a great way to quickly access your blog feeds and other favorite things. I can pop in whenever I have a few minutes and read something inspirational from a Spark friend.

I know it has been awhile since....

Saturday, April 17, 2010

I know it has been awhile since I have posted a blog.... not exactly sure what the heck has been keeping me so busy LOL. I have been cutting down on my spark time and have been having fun reading books and whatnot on my new iPad. That is one fun gadget by the way. Doesn't replace my mini netbook but it does do lots of cool things and talk about fast. The pages, books and applications load like greased lightning!

I know some of you are probably curious about how things have been going with my brother in NYC. He is doing well and the HIV is now almost undetectable. The doctor is pretty much amazed how well he has bounced back. He has cleaned up his lifestyle (no drugs or alcohol) and he is slowly but surely regaining his emotional and physical strength. I am so proud of him and thank you all for the support which has helped me help him. He is so talented and has a great future... I sure don't want to see that wasted. The agency that is now representing him has updated their website with his information so if you would like to take a look I am posting the link. Click on Joel Mendenhall and you will see a link to his celebrity and hair/make-up portfolios. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful week-end and Spark on!

So glad to hear that your brother is doing well. It's such a wonderful thing when talent is NOT wasted! :-) (Like *your* special talent for motivating others to reach their goals and live up to their potential!)

So nice to see you sparking, but understand the need to back away sometimes and focus on other things. I'm so happy all is going so well with your brother. You've been in my thoughts, hoping things were progressing for the positive... You're such a positive force yourself and I'm glad to have crossed paths with you here!
