WHEN YOU STRUGGLE WITH YOUR EATING OR YOU HAVE WEIGHT GAIN YOU MAY DESCRIBE YOURSELF WITH DAMAGING WORDS SUCH AS FAT, LAZY, FAILURE, OR EVEN SCREW UP.

WHEN MAKING THESE NEGATIVE VIEWS OF YOURSELF YOU WILL MATCH IT BY HOW YOU LIVE.

USE POSITIVE WORDS

TO CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE YOURSELF YOU MAY HAVE CHANGE OR CREATE A DIFFERENT PICTURE OF YOURSELF.

USE DESCRIPTIVE WORDS SUCH AS HOT MAMA, HOT BABE OR POWERWOMEN.

(I'VE SEEN SOME SPARK NAMES AND WONDERED WHY SOME WOULD CALL THEMSELVES THAT NAME? I LOVE MY SPARK NAME CAUSE THAT WHAT I AM. BUT I ALSO CONSIDER MYSELF A HOLY HOTTIE. emoticon

    I catch myself calling myself bad names often when I am dissatisfied in my performance in one area of my life or another. I have been working to change my attitude from, "I'm so stupid,' (or fat, or lazy, or whatever) to "Oh, I goofed that up. I'll do better next time!" It is not easy, but well worth the practice.

I am going to have to try to think of some new names for myself like you suggested. Thanks!

DAY 79 LIVE AS A HEALTHY PERSON

BORED WITH SALAD AND GRILLED CHICKEN?

BEEN DIETING SO LONG YOU WANT MORE VARIETY AND FUN IN YOUR PLAN.

THINKING HEALTHY INSTEAD OF THIN IS MUCH BETTER THAT SAYING YOU WANT TO BE THIN. THIN FOLKS DO NOT NECESSARILY WATCH WHAT THEY EAT OR CARE WHAT THEY EAT.

WHEN TALKING ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS. CHANGE YOUR WORDS TO MATCH YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS.

INSTEAD OF SAYING YOU WANT TO BE THINNER ETC, USE THE WORDS ACTIVE, BALANCED OR STRONG.

CREATE A NEW IMAGE OF HOW YOU'LL LIVE AS A "HEALTH PERSON".

WHAT TO DO ---WHAT TYPE EXERCISES, FOOD AND ATTITUDES TOWARD BEING A HEALTHY PERSON. DO YOU DO?

A LOT TO THINK ABOUT................

A HEALTHIER PERSON WILL SUSTAIN A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE THAN A THIN PERSON.

ENCOURAGING YOUR KIDS TO EAT HEALTHIER... WELL MY OLDER SON (21) HAS MOVED OUT TO HIS OWN LIFE. I MISS HIM EVERY DAY I PRAY FOR HIM DAY AND NIGHT. (AS I DO FOR MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.) I CAME HERE TO SPARK AND GAVE HIM AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TO EAT A FEW YEARS JUST BEFORE HE LEFT. HE SAID I ATE BORING AND NASTY LOL. I WISH I HAD AT NASTY AS HE CALLED IT BEFORE COMING TO SPARK. OH WELL BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. NOW MY SECOND SON STARTED LIFTING WEIGHT A FEW YEARS BACK. HE IS RIPPLED WITH MUSCLES. "CUT" AS I HEARD HIM SAY. LOL! HE EATS TONS OF VEGGIES AND LEAN PROTEIN. HE DRINKS PROTEIN POWDERED DRINKS., OATS, COTTAGE CHEESE AND NUTS. HE MAKES HIS OWN PANCAKES FROM HIS PROTEIN POWDER WITH A LITTLE FLOUR. HE DOES NOT LIKE FRUIT. (((WHAT)))? HE NEVER EATS BREAD. EXCEPT THE OCCASIONAL SUBWAY VEGGIE AND TURKEY SANDWICH. I HAVE SEEN HIM EAT COOKIES, AND CHIPS ON HIS CHEAT DAY. LOL! HUBBIE IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. SO AM I. GOD WILLING WE WILL GET THERE. MY YOUNGER SON IS SPECIAL NEEDS AND HAS FOOD PREFERENCES. THERE IS NO CHANGING THAT. HE WILL PROGRESS AT HIS OWN PACE. OH YEA MY MIDDLE SON CALLED HOW I ATE (HEALTHIER) NASTY TOO BUT HE ENDED UP EATING NASTY WITH ME. emoticon

  nods! my idea of eating like a normal person is not what my normal eaters I know actually eat! LOL... but i'm learning! Spark has helped eh?

my 14 yr old dn has just started lifting... is doing the protein powders, smoothies, and all of a sudden eating for lifting... I do wish we'd done, make that known/realized how much it helps to eat that way.... decades ago... I get excited the more I learn, even though my old ideas call my name too, I feel like i'm caught in the middle and have to keep consciously making the choices... I am hoping it becomes easier! like it seems to be for the normal eaters I know...

DO YOU EVER TRY TO MOTIVATE YOURSELF BY USING CRITICAL OR BY USING NEGATIVE SELF TALK?

WHAT? HOW CAN THIS WORK? ME SPEAKING........

PUNISHING YOURSELF DOESN'T CHANGE YOUR BEHAVIOR.

WHATEVER YOU LABEL YOURSELF AS YOU BECOME. LABELING YOURSELF IN NEGATIVE WAYS DRAGS YOU DOWN EVEN FURTHER. DON'S BELIEVE NEGATIVE VOICES OR WITHIN OR WITHOUT. SO AS A MAN THINKETH SO IS HE. SPEAK KINDLY TO YOURSELF "COME ON YOU CAN DO IT" "YOU'RE WORTH IT". GOES A LONG WAY AND WILL HELP YOU WITH YOUR GOALS AND STAY THE COURSE.

YOUR SIZE OR THE AMOUNT YOU EAT DOESN'T DETERMINE YOUR SELF WORTH. YOU are STILL A GOOD PERSON EVEN IF YOU WOLF DOWN A BAD OF CHIPS OR EAT A BIG PIECE OF CAKE.

START TREATING YOURSELF WITH TENDERNESS AND RESPECT. IF YOU SLIP OR DETOUR ON YOUR GOALS DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP. PICK YOURSELF UP AND TRY AGAIN.

WHEN YOU DON'T FINISH AN ASSIGNMENT AT WORK ETC. SAY TO YOURSELF "MO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY OR DO TO ME, I AM STILL A WORTH WHILE PERSON." SAY IT UNTIL IT BECOMES A PART OF YOU AND YOU BELIEVE IT. BECAUSE IT IS TRUE!!! GOD SAY YOU ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDEROUSLY MADE. DON'T BELIEVE OR LISTEN TO NEGATIVE VOICES OF THOUGHTS FROM THE ENEMY. HE LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAY 76 EMOTIONAL SAFETY

HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF YOUR EMOTIONAL SAFETY?? WHEN YOU FEEL UNSETTLED ANXIOUS AND INSECURE. YOU NEED A WAY TO REGROUP AGAIN.

EMOTIONAL SAFETY GIVES A SENSE OF WELL BEING "GROUNDED"AS WELL AS PROTECTED, STRONGER AND SECURE.

CRATING A SAFE PLACE

PONDER HOW YOU CAN CREATE AN EMOTIONALLY SAFE PLACE IN YOUR LIFE.........A CORNER A ROOM ETC, GATHER SOME OBJECTS THAT HELP YOU FEEL SECURE, POSTERS, CANDLES OR STUFFED ANIMALS. BRIGHTEN IT UP WITH FLOWERS AND PLANTS, ADD SOFT RELAXING MUSIC.

THESE SUGGESTIONS ABOVE WERE FROM LINDA'S BOOK:

AS A PERSON OF FAITH I KNOW I CAM REST IN MY FAITH AND IN CHRIST WHO IS MY STRENGTH, HEART FIXER, MIND REGULATOR MY HIGH TOWER IN TIME OF TROUBLE. HE IS MY ALL AND ALL. HE BRINGS PEACE IN A TIME OF STORM. IF I EVER FEEL UNEASY I WILL REMIND MYSELF THAT I AM NOT ALONE.

I DON'T NECESSARILY HAVE A CORNER. EVERYWHERE I GO MY FAITH IS WITH ME AND I CAN ALWAYS PRAY. Object's CAN'T CARRY ME THUR BUT MY FAITH CAN.

INSTANT EMOTIONAL SAFETY

--A FAVORITE CD, FAV COFFEE CUP DURING A MEETING OR SPECIAL NOTEBOOK TO HOLD ON TO.
AFTER A HARD DAYS WORK EASE INTO YOUR FAV CHAIR AND LISTEN TO YOU FAV CD OR MUSIC.

I GO ENJOY PRAISE MUSIC WHEN I NEED UPLIFTING. BUT THE MUSIC DOES NOT REPLACE MY BELIEF OR FAITH IT SPEAKS OF MY FAITH. I ENJOY A RELAXING SHOWER AND LOVE MY FAV BLANKET WHEN I AM SICK BUT IT DOES NOT REPLACE WHO HOLDS MY FAITH. I KNOW THE LORD HEALS NOW JUST LIKE HE DID 100'S OF YEARS AGO.


DAY 77 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS WITH LIND SPANGLE

THE HEALING POWER OF RITUALS

ANOTHER WAS TO BUILD EMOTIONALLY SAFETY IS TO INCLUDE RITUALS OR HABITS.

RITUALS ARE SPECIFIC PATTERNS OR ACTIVITIES THAT HELP TO RELAX OR RE-ENERGIZE. RITUALS CAN HELP YOU FEEL SAFE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE THOUGHT UP. THEY ARE CONSTANT.

HEALING RITUALS

THINK ABOUT HOW MANY OF THEN ARE SURROUNDED BY FOOD. REPLACE SOME WITH HEALTHIER PATTERNS IN STRESSFUL TIMES WHEN YOU WANT RELIEF OF STRESS, CALM DOWN AND HEAL YOUR EMOTIONAL NEEDS.
IF YOU REACH FOR THE CUPBOARD OR REFRIG AFTER A STRESSFUL DAY OF WORK ETC. MANAGE A BETTER WAY.


AFTER I GET MY YOUNGER SON OFF TO SCHOOL I ALWAYS HAVE A CUP(S) GREEN TEA WHILE READING MY BIBLE. IT IS WHERE MY STRENGTH COMES FROM. DURING THE SUMMER I'LL HAVE TO COME UP WITH WAYS TO DO THIS SUMMER. EITHER GET UP EARLIER ETC. I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS A RITUAL BUT IT IS A PART OF WHO I AM AND MY LIFE.

MORE SUGGESTION FROM LINDA SPANGLE:

1. SIT QUIETLY --LISTEN TO FAV MUSIC.
2. READ A FEW PAGES FROM A SPECIAL BOOK LIKE THE BIBLE, NOVEL OR POETRY.
3. LIGHT CANDLES AND MEDITATE(MY CASE PRAY) FOR A WHILE BEFORE DINNER.
4. HAVE A CUP OF TEAM OR COFFEE ALONG WITH A HEALTHY SNACK.
5. Listen TO QUIET MUSIC AT NIGHT WHILE YOU DRIFT TO SLEEP OR WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING TAKE YOUR FAV PHOTOS MY YOUR FAMILY AND PLACE THEM NEAR THE NIGHTSTAND. OR YOU COULD TAKE YOUR FAV BUBBLE BATH OR PACKET FAV TEA.

Day 71 ITS TOO HARD.

YES IT IS HARD FOR MOST FOLKS TO STAY WITH THEIR PLAN TO HEALTHIER EATING AND EXERCISING. NO ONE IS ABOVE HAD BAD DAYS, STRESS AND FATIGUE IT CAN BE TOUGH.

THERE'S NO GOOD REASON TO GIVE UP! INSTEAD LEARN HOW TO PRESS THUR THE TOUGH TIMES WITHOUT ALLOWING THEM TO GET YOU OFF TRACK.

I CAN DO HARD THINGS! GIVING BIRTH IS HARD, WORKING ON A JOB, AND HOUSE WORK ETC. IS HARD.

WHEN TOUGH TIMES COME SAY "OF COURSE IT IS HARD BUT I'VE DONE A LOT OF DIFFICULT THINGS IN LIFE, THIS ISN'T ANY DIFFERENT. I KNOW I CAN DO HARD THINGS!!!"

BE WILLING TO DO THE WORK. THERE ARE NO EASY WAYS TO LOSE WEIGHT. IT TAKES GREAT EFFORT. PLANNING AND TRACKING YOUR MEALS, AND WATCHING OUT FOR TEMPTATIONS. MAKING TOUGH DECISIONS, TACKLING CHALLENGES AND MANAGE PEOPLE OR SITUATIONS THAT FEEL EXTREMELY DIFFICULT IS HARD. BUT WE DO IT.

IF YOU'LL BE COURAGEOUS, STAY FOCUSED THUR THE HARD PARTS YOUR GOALS WILL BE MET.
