Great Strategy! I usually chew gum but I had to slow that down as I started downing the entire pack in less than 2 days smh! emoticon I know get up and move or drink tea. May you have GREAT success in your challenge!

EVER WANT SOMETHING TO EAT BUT YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF WHAT? HEART HUNGER SECOND TYPE OF EMOTIONAL EATING INVOLVES A NON SPECIFIC FOOD CRAVING. YOU JUST START THINKING ABOUT EATING. YOU GO INTO WHAT I CALL IN SEARCH OF MODE-- TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT YOU WANT TO EAT. ANY TIME YOU WANT SOMETHING TO EAT BUT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS THAT IS HEART HUNGER. HEART HUNGER CRAVINGS TYPE FOODS ARE: ICE CREAM, DOUGHNUTS OR PASTA. BUT YOU CAN ALSO CRAVE COMFORT FOODS OR FOODS RELATED TO HAPPY TIMES.

EMPTY EMOTIONS --HEART HUNGER COMES FROM FEELING DEPRESSED, DISCOURAGED OR LONELY, BORED OR RESTLESS. HEART HUNGER CAN BE RELATED TO YOU WANTING ATTENTION OR TO BE APPRECIATED. GAUGE YOURSELF WHEN EXPERIENCING HEART HUNGER "ASK YOURSELF WHAT MAKING ME FEEL EMPTY"? OF ASK YOURSELF "WHAT AM I MISSING OR NEEDING IN MY LIFE"? DIFFICULT SITUATIONS LEFT YOU FEELING TIRED AND DISCOURAGED OR FEELING DEPRESSED ? YOU MAY NEED MEANING IN YOUR LIFE. HEART HUNGER EATING DOES NOTHING FOR YOU AND CAN NOT CHANGE ANYTHING AND THE EMPTINESS WILL STILL BE THERE.

SOME TIMES HEART HUNGER SNEAKS IN ON YOU UNAWARES. THE HABIT OF EATING ICE CREAM RIGHT BEFORE BED, A CINNAMON BUN OR A BROWNIE CAN SEEM TO FILL THE BROKEN SPOTS IN A RELATIONSHIP OR DISAPPOINTMENTS IN LIFE. FOOD DOES NOT FIT A THING.



DAY 59 HEART HUNGER INSTEADS.

CREATE A LIST OF INSTEADS. MAKE THE LIST SOME THING YOU CAN DRAW FROM QUICKLY!!

PRESSURE TYPE EMOTIONS TRY A WARM BATH OR A MASSAGE. GIVE YOURSELF A FOOT MASSAGE (FOR ME) FACIALS AND MANI-PEDI! OH LUV UM! I ALSO LIKE LISTENING TO SPA MUSIC TO UNWIND.

FOR SADNESS OR LONELY TIMES LISTEN TO MUSIC, READING A BOOK, GET A NEW HOBBY OR TAKE A CLASS TO AWAKEN YOUR BRAIN. MAKE SURE THE MUSIC FITS THE MOOD SOMETHING UP BEAT! I SAY SEE A GOOD CLEAN COMEDY. STROKE AN ANIMAL, BUY YOURSELF A GIFT...(YARN FOR ME, OR NEW POLISH, OR NEW BEADS) GET A HUG OR GIVE A HUG, DO GARDENING OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT INVOLVES BEING OUTSIDE IN NATURE. OR LIGHT SOME CANDLES - BUY SOME-LAVENDER SCENTED CANDLES THEY RELAX YOU. OR VANILLA SCENTED ONES. ALONG WITH SOME OF THESE SUGGESTIONS I WILL USE MY DISTRACTIONS LIST.

WHETHER YOU KNOW IT OR NOT --- WITH NON HUNGRY EATING YOUR FOOD CHOICES SERVES AS MIRRORS INDICATING WHAT TYPE OF EMOTIONAL NEED YOU ARE EXPERIENCING.

HEAD HUNGRY DRIVES YOU TO--CHEWY, CRUNCHY LIKE CHIPS, POPCORN, NUTS AND A SPECIFIC CANDY BAR. . IT ALSO STARTS WITH A SPECIFIC FOOD THOUGHT OR CRAVING. IN OTHER WORDS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO EAT. A FOOD THOUGHT COMES TO MIND CHIPS, POPCORN OR A CANDY BAR. FOOD LIKE CHIPS, AND NUTS. FOODS WITH A DENSE CHEWY TEXTURE ALSO HAMBURGERS, PIZZA AND CHOCOLATE ARE IN THIS CATEGORY. THEY HAVE A SMASH IN YOUR MOUTH SENSATION.

HEAD HUNGRY IS USUALLY CONNECTED TO PRESSURE TYPE EMOTIONS, ANGER, FRUSTRATION OR RESENTMENT. IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN WHEN YOU TRY AND AVOID FEELINGS OF GRIEF OR PAINFUL EMOTIONS. REASONS FOR HEAD HUNGRY INCLUDE STRESS, DEADLINES, OR OTHER PEOPLE.

WHEN YOU ARE HAVING A CRAVING FOR SOMETHING CHEWY OR CRUNCHY ASK YOURSELF "WHAT DO I REALLY WANT TO CHEW ON?" TRY TO FIGURE WHAT IS IRRITATING, BOTHERING OR STRESSING YOU OUT AT THE MOMENT. IT MAY BE THE KIDS, MONEY, FRIENDS, PROJECT DEADLINES. OR A DIFFICULT JOB.

WHEN THE SOURCES OF HEAD HUNGRY IS FOUND ASK YOURSELF "WILL EATING CHANGE THIS ISSUE"? "CAN IT HELP WITH THESE PROBLEMS"? EATING MAY SEEM TO HELP THE PROBLEM BUT AFTER EATING THE FOOD THE SITUATION REMAINS. EATING IS A BAND-AID THAT POSTPONES WHAT YOU REALLY NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO COPE WITH LIVE ISSUES.



DAY 57 HEAD HUNGRY OF INSTEADS

SOLUTIONS THAT KEEP YOU FROM HEADING TO THE CUPBOARD OR REFRIGERATOR DURING HEAD HUNGRY..TRY SOME INSTEADS

(FOR ME) ANGRY --TALK IT OUT BETWEEN THE OFFENDER OR WRITE ABOUT IT ON PAPER THE BURN IT..TO RELEASE IT FROM YOU.

ASK FOR SUPPORT FROM A VERY SUPPORTIVE TEAM.

TAKE DEEP BREATHS ---YES WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THAT THEY WORK...BUT THEY DO!

(FOR ME) RELY ON MY FAITH..TAKE IT TO GOD.

(I WOULD ALSO REFER TO MY DISTRACTION LIST)

BUT THE BOOK HAD OTHER SUGGESTIONS LIKE SCREAM AT YOUR STEERING WHEEL.

    I enjoyed this Blog. It will help me think about WHY I'm having cravings, and what to do when I'm having them. I usually just eat whatever comes to mind, or if I can't, I just wait ( sometimes even days) and then I'll pig-out on it! This get out of control sometimes and can ruin my healthy eating plan for long periods of time,

    I call is MOUTH HUNGER. I have taken the food and chewed it and SPIT IT OUT rather than swallowed it and have it in my body. The craving will pass in about 10 minutes of doing that.

YOU MAY NOT HAVE STARTED OUT BEING AN EMOTIONAL EATER. FOOD BEGIN TO SHOW UP EVERY WHERE SOON IT DID NOT MATTER IF YOU WERE HUNGRY OR NOT YOU ATE ANYWAY.

ON BIRTHDAYS THE CANDLES WERE BLOWN OUT AND EVERYBODY HAD CHOCOLATE CAKE, ENCOURAGED TO CLEAN YOUR PLATE WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD., YOU FELL AND MOM CAME WITH A COOKIE TO HELP THE BOO BOO AND THE PAIN MAGICALLY STOP! LOL!

EATING IS ONE OF THE MOST COMMON WAYS PEOPLE COPE WITH PROBLEMS AND STRUGGLES IN LIFE. YOU LEARNED THAT WHENEVER YOU HAVE A TOUGH TIME, FOOD ALWAYS MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER.

THE LINK BETWEEN FOOD AND EMOTIONS...
IF YOU ALWAYS REACH FOR SOMETHING TO EAT WHEN YOU DON'T LIKE HOW YOU FEEL. YOU'LL CREATE A LINK BETWEEN FOOD AND YOUR EMOTIONAL NEEDS. FOR A WHILE IT SEEMS TO WORK BUT AT SOME POINT OVER EATING NUMBS YOUR FEELINGS. YOU CAN STOP NOTICING WHAT IS MISSING IN YOUR LIFE. FOOD PROVIDES A SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE WAY TO ESCAPE FROM REALITY.

FOOD AS THE CONSOLATION PRIZE. ITS BETTER THAT NOTHING BUT NOT AS GOOD AS BEING LOVED, APPRECIATED OR COMFORTED.

WHAT YOU ACTUALLY WANT. DAYS GO BY WHERE YOU'D GIVE ANYTHING FOR SOMEONE TO HOLD YOU AND OFFER A ENCOURAGING WORD. YOU WANT SOMEBODY TO CARE THAT YOUR CAR HAS BROKEN DOWN 4 TIMES THIS MONTH, YOU WISH LIFE WERE DIFFERENT --MORE MONEY, MORE LOVE OR MORE FUN. WHEN YOU DON'T GET THESE THINGS ITS EASY TO LOOK FOR FOOD TO TAKE ITS PLACE. BEFORE REACHING FOR THAT BAG OF CHIPS---AND YOU KNOW YOU ARE NOT HUNGRY. ASK YOURSELF "WHAT DO YOU REALLY NEED OR WANT"? Think ABOUT HOW YOU ADDRESS YOUR NEEDS IN SOME OTHER WAYS INSTEAD OF EXPECTING FOOD TO TAKE CARE OF

DAY 54 EATING TO FEEL BETTER.

I WILL EAT TO FEEL BETTER. THOSE WORDS SLIP OUT OF OUR MOUTHS SO EASY............ WHEN YOU'RE BORED, STRESSED AND PHYSICALLY ILL FOOD COMES TO MIND. FOOD TENDS TO PROVIDES AN APPEALING CURE FOR EVERYTHING---FROM A COLD OR THE FLU TO EXHAUSTION AFTER A LONG DAY.

SOMETIMES YOU REALLY DO NEED FOOD. IF YOU'RE TIRED BECAUSE YOUR BODY NEED FUEL, EATING WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER. BUT HAVING AN ENERGY DROP MAY NOT ALWAYS MEAN IT IS TIME TO EAT.

TRY AND GAUGE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR FUEL NEEDS (PHYSICAL HUNGER) AND WANTING AN EMOTIONAL FIX (HEAD HUNGER).

WHY RE YOU TIRED?? BEFORE REACHING FOR GOOD THINK ABOUT WHAT COULD BE MAKING YOU TIRED? IF YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN OR DE-STRESS TRY SOME DEEP BREATHING. EXERCISE IS A BETTER OPTION OVER EATING. TAKE A BREAK FROM YOUR TASKS YOUR WORKING ON.

RECOGNIZE WHEN YOU NEED TO REST. DON'T REACH FOR FOOD, THEN GO TO BED. TAKE A NAP OR CLOSE YOUR EYES FOR A FEW MINUTES. TRY SIPPING HOT TEA OR DIET DRINK ALLOW YOUR BODY TO RELAX. MUSIC CAN PROVIDE A WAY TO RE-ENERGIZE. MATCH YOUR ENERGY TO THE DESIRED MUSIC YOU WANT TO HEAR. (FOR ME) IT IS RELAXING SPA MUSIC IF A WANT TO UNWIND.

BREAK THE HABIT OF REACHING FOR FOOD WHEN TIRED. DO SOMETHING ELSE FIRST AND SEE IF THAT TAKES CARE OF THE PROBLEM.

NON FOOD METHODS TO BOOST ENERGY.

EXERCISE REVIVES. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH WATER DEHYDRATION CAN ADD TO YOUR TIREDNESS.

GET SOME REST. TAKE A NAP. GO TO BED EARLIER. FORCE YOURSELF TO GO TO REST WHEN YOU NEED IT.

DISTRACT YOURSELF. GO SHOPPING, START A CRAFT, READ A BOOK. WHEN YOU KEEP BUSY YOU MAY FIND THAT YOUR TIREDNESS LIFTS WITHOUT FOOD.

WATCHING TV OR PLAYING COMPUTER GAMES CAN MAKE YOU FEEL DULL RATHER THAN REVIVED.
