Today was my great niece funeral. I choose not to go. It is so hard to see a two year old buried. I just couldnít do it. I didnít want to see them close the casket in her face or put her in the ground. I didnít want to take a chance on my depression going to a place that medication canít pull me out of. So I didnít go. Now if I can just not emotionally eat when I do go around the family because it will be food galore.

    Sorry to hear that your niece died, itís hard to lose some one, I lost my father to cancer a few years back. I only had one thing to get me threw the lord. I know at such a time as this there are few words that can comfort; the only thing I can leave you with is one of the verses that have helped me get through. God is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalms 34-18. God is always there never will he leave never will he forsake you. He is a father and he understands what you are going through. Wishing you better days ahead and love and comfort to you.

Bag Lunches

Iíve been packing my own lunch. My goal is to save money, and stay focused on my weight loss. Problem is I donít always know what to pack. I usually have half of a turkey sandwich on wheat bread and a salad, (fat free dressing), along with other snacks like green grapes, cheese stick and nature valley bar. Well today it occurred to me to not pack a sandwich next week but to cut up some turkey or chicken breast in the salad and leave the bread totally out. Thatís a plan. I also want to cut back on those cheese sticks not sure what Iím going to replace them with yet. What are your thoughts?

    I love baby carrots, sliced apples, sliced cucumber and such for snacking while at work when I'm eating healthy. I used to do leftovers too like make a lasanga on Sunday and eat it throughout the week. Lunch can be more than a sandwhich. I love cheesesticks too. You could do a bowl of cottage cheese topped with cantelope for your serving of calcium. It's healthy and fulfills that need for milk.

  Soups are a good go to meal as well. Nix the cheese sticks and substitute them with celery or carrot sticks. They are healthy and less calories. emoticon and emoticon as you are saving emoticon and calories! emoticon emoticon emoticon

    I might be stating the obvious but, pack your protein separate for quick assembly at lunchtime. Just the thought of fresh food helps me to stay the course.

    I think yogurt is definitely a good replacement for the cheese stick. I like the the new dannon greek yogurt blends that are only 80 calories.

  I usually pack a lunch also. Last week I started bringing in Green Giant Microwavable Veggie sides. I have been trying to get more veggies into my day. I have found some great side dishes that are filling, low in calories and help me get in those 5 servings a day. I would love to have a salad but i have to be careful with lettuce, so I try to skip that while at work. I also love my cheese sticks. At least 1 cheese stick is a controlled portion? Your idea of cutting up the turkey/chicken on the salad is a good one.

    I have also been bringing lunch to work for the past two weeks to help my hubby with glucose levels so I'm cooking almost daily! Today I brought a sandwich. I'd recomment tuna/chicken salad as an option, maybe egg salad. I've been batch cooking meals like chili, ground turkey with brown rice casserole.. pulled many of my recipes from spark! good luck!!

It's my turn to do better

Wow, I just canít believe that it has been since 2012 since I last wrote. My weight loss is still an issue but I havenít given up. Recently I went to the doctor and found out that over a three month period I gained six pounds back. That didnít settle well with me. I figure now I can work on losing at least two pounds a month since I know I can gain itÖ.now can I lose that much a month. I know it is possible it should be a drop in the bucket so to speak. Oh and did I fail to mention that my butter loving self had high cholesterol? SMH! I am going to do better.

Today I skipped...

It was a beautiful St. Patrick Day
No snow
No Rain
No Wind just sunshine. I skipped and skipped and skipped, the laundry, the floors, and any other routine that I usually do on Sunday. What I did do was go to the park and walk. My back hurt so badly but I would not give up. I did stop a few times to stretch but I kept going until I made it all the way around.
A friend told me that he was proud of me for not giving up then I realized, you know what, you should feel proud of yourself because the pain was intense but you didn't quit. Today I am proud of myself.

This one is for me
I thought to myself on yesterday "gurl" spark people works if you work it. Now just because you haven't been working it doesn't mean it doesn't work. It works. Let's take a tiny step today. Reach out to someone, anyone, so I did in my own way. I went to blogs and pages and read stories and sent out a cup of coffee. I may not have been motivated in the end but I sure was encouraged. Encouraged enough that I sat down and did more than read today, I wrote myself a quick little blog. I'm sparking one way or another. Oh and I am cooking a recipe tonight from SP
